Video games, video games and more video games
Posted by no-one Mon Jul 27, 2015 7:54 pm
Anyways, if you haven't noticed yet. I like video games. I especially like video games about robits and I extra especially like robutts that turn in to stuff. I'm going post a little video about a game I just learned existed this weekend.
Anyway, if that's not a problem, let's continue. The game is called GALAK-Z. From what I've read the game is a roguelike retro inspired 2-D shooter. I ignored it until I read the word mech on the PS Blog. I'm not a big fan of the roguelike genre, but it may work for me in a space shooter format. I believe the game is coming to PS4 and Windows. Check out the video, check the 20 something links I dropped. See what cha think.
While I'm on a game kick. I named dropped Journey over on Donny's page yesterday. I figured I'd give that game a shout out as well. I played that game around 2 years ago on the PS3 and they just ported to the PS4. I easily finished it 15+ times (not as impressive as it may sound) then and I finished it 3 more times this weekend. I really love this game. The title is very indicative of the experience you will have. It's a beautiful, short, sweet 2 hour... well, journey. I would highly recommend it. And seeing that I am feeling all you tubey:
If I can indulge myself once more and give one last shout out (hey the title does say "random musings"). This game has been my most anticipated game since they announced it at the end of 2013. They game in question is called No Man's Sky. IF I'm getting a little TL;DR, I will save you the time of following that link and give you the best nutshell description I can from memory. It's a sci-fi space exploration game set in an infinite procedurally generated universe. There is no story, no hand holding tutorial; just the freedom to explore the universe at your own pace. From what I understand, you can explore, mine, trade, get into space dog fights, log planets and their fauna and flora. So basically, just pure game play *cough* Diablo 3 *cough*. Without further ado; I present the most recent gameplay video:
It probably goes without saying that I've got a whole stack of hype train tickets for this one. Now all I need is the pre-order to go live. I hope I didn't bore ya too much with my other hobby, but I really wanted to share GALAK-Z with my robuddies.
Thanks for stopping by.

Galak-Z looks like a fun little blast 'em up. I like the toon shaded style and the character design is great.
Journey looks AMAZING. The art direction is beautiful. Is it a mostly puzzle solving? Is it the same story every time you play?
IT reminds me of a great book, by the same name even, that I read my oldest. I say read lightly because it's all pictures no words. So every time I tell her the story, it's different, and better. Next time you're at a book store look for Journey, and the follow up, Quest by Aaron Becker.
No Man's sky - My first thought was, GREAT! A game that has no ending!
At least tell us when you get that game, so we know where you are for the next 17 years.
Cool games! Thanks for sharing.

Hear, hear; time is indeed in short supply these days. I'm glad I was able to get a little game time in this weekend. I was also able to fire up a new to me game STYX, but it's not worth writing about.donny & cobs wrote:I can haz more time?
I never thought of it as a puzzle game, but yes; it's environmental puzzle solving light. Always the same story, but it is possible to have a slightly different experience each play. You can get paired randomly with other players at the same spot as you. There is no in game chat and no way to even know who you are playing with until the credits roll. The only in game communication is the player character's chirp.Cobotron wrote:Journey looks AMAZING. The art direction is beautiful. Is it a mostly puzzle solving? I'll keep an eye out for those, thanks.Journey, and the follow up, Quest by Aaron Becker.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. I should just post AFK once No Man's Sky shows up.At least tell us when you get that game, so we know where you are for the next 17 years.
You're welcome. Galak-Z is what I really wanted to share, but couldn't figure out the best delivery method. Everything else is just my obsession oozing out on the page.donny & cobs wrote:Thanks for sharing.
Unfortunately, most of these are exclusives. Journey is a PS exclusive and I don't see it crossing over (I think sony owns it). Galak-Z and No Man's Sky are slated for PC release as well. So it's possible those may show up on Xbox 1 at some point in the future.donny1975 wrote:these all look like interesting titles.
