Just a thought but as I understand it the seed changes everything it touches once deployed into Transformium or whatever it's called, perhaps the Dinobots are regular Dinosaurs who were caught in the explosion and turned into robots.

That's what I thought at first when I was seeing the beginning of the movie that what could be the Dinobot's origins but they never delved into that.

Speaking of Dinobots I think I forgot another connection of AOE to Animated. They both don't have the Dinobots talk at all with the exception of Grimlock in Animated of course.

I liked it. When it had dumb stuff, it was definitely stupid. But the good stuff about it was great.

SPOILERS AHEAD

some of the highlights:
-Lockdown was awesome, totally becoming of the character. Man oh MAN do I wish he was in it more.
-Kelsey Grammar was also really good. Very evil in his ways.
-The CIA Death Squad was effectively sinister for their brief screen time.

Some things I didn't care for:
-Not enough Dinobot action. I really wish they hadn't hyped them up so much for their minuscule amount of screen time.
-Prime is definitely a little nutty in this movie. I mean, granted many of his friends have been killed by people he was protecting, but still; the Autobots operated like the Wreckers, which would've been cool to see if it was the actual Wreckers.
-This was a LOOOOOOOOONG ASS movie. If they had cut out the Dinobots, it coukd have been solved a lot quicker.
Back at it again!

Yes, I thought this too. I imagine a Prometheus like idea, where creators come onto worlds and breath new life into them. In this case, the creators want to create transformer-like life and come to earth and test it out to make transformers with the life found there. In this case, its the dinobots. They get created 65 million years ago and become these legendary heroic knights of which Optimus is the latest member of the order (he never fought with them though).

I am sure many dinosaurs became transformers but only these few lasted and thus became legends. Some dinosaurs also simply just died from the experimentation and were locked in metallic forms. Others didnt and died eventually of simple extinction since the rest had either perished or been recruited, hence why we do also have normal fossils.

Optimus spoke of an event happening 65 million years ago and referred to the dinobots as legends. I am simply going off on those small bits of dialogue and extrapolating.

Also, to those that say it is a different Optimus, Peter Cullen has said (in the Larry David comiccon interview) that he always plays Optimus the same way. Obviously, he doesnt make up the lines, but as far as he is concerned, the Optimus character he portrays is the same in all series.

Actually, it was stated in the film that the Creators planet-hopped and used the Seeds to harvest the material needed to forge Cybertronians.

At least, I'm very certain that's what was said.

Went and seen it yesterday morning/afternoon. In my opinion, I thought it was pretty good (I especially liked Hound's character. Total win right there). The only issues I had were the lack of any real involvement with Galvatron and the Dinobots, ESPECIALLY the Dinobots. Had they been revealed an hour before the end, and given speaking roles, I would've been far more pumped.

Now I need to get figures of Hound, the on-screen Dinobots, Lockdown, and (if he's ever made into a Deluxe) Stinger.

I went in expecting not a heck of a lot - except a three hour arse numbing.

Pros for me: Seemed like less potty humour, less unnessessary arse and booby shots, the lead girl could act better than Fox and didn't have creepy thumbs. The big name stars did a good job, I didn't feel like they were "phoning it in". Lockdown was awesome, I actually found myself rooting for him over every other Transformer in the film. I was impressed with the Dinobots, and really loved their robot modes - but only in visual form, I was really hoping [but not at all expecting] for 80s comic Grimlock, the guy with the brain and a crown. Even surly pre-season 4 Grimmy would have been a welcome improvement.

LOVED the Kremzeek easter egg!

Cons: The FXs seemed a bit lackluster at time, the diaglouge was horrendous, lazy character developement. I wanted to see more of Drift. The plot was recycled, the themes the same, the editting choppy, huge areas of the film could have been left on the cutting room floor without significant impact. I can really do without the sterotypical black woman. Prime needs to dial down the homicial/robocidal behaviour. Galvatron was under utilised.

Now, I didn't go in expecting an award winning performance, fantastic script, new plots, or material taken from the source material and shown great respect and care. I went in expecting bad humour, bad editing, giant robots pounding each other and explosions.

I certainly think it was better than the last two, which isn't all that hard to do, not better than the first. I didn't hate it, but I felt a little let down. I think people who loved the last three will adore this, people who are raging G1 purists like myself, not so much.

But its the length that really annoyed me. Near on three hours, too long. Detracts a lot.

I'd give it a 5/10. Passable.

I really wish they'd get a different director, but this movie makes too much money for them to drop Bay. I wish he'd go on to something else of his own will. I want to see what someone else woudl do with this. It really couldn't get any worse at this stage.
Something memorable here.

Been there, done that and... I have mixed feelings. Technically, it's great improvement over abominations that ROTF and DOTM where, but it's still not good enough, clearly not good enough to redeem Michael Bay...

It's a good thning that they decide to return to smaller cast: Now each character have more time on his own, so they are better portrayed. I really liked Hound and Galvatron. And Crosshairs & Drift where not bad either, even if they weren't that prominent. Sadly, thanks new desings, there is no real connection between vechicale & robot mode, witch could be justifable in case of Galvatron & Stinger, but again the way they transform is just silly.

I like how Optimus haven't so much luck in this, this time universe isn't working for him. Both Lockdown and Galvatron seems to be too much for him in direct combat. And there is now no cosmic playthings to help him, just him and enemy. Of course he got help from Bee and humans, but I chose this over what we got in ROTF and DOTM every day.

Also I must admit: Ehren Kruger achieve the impossible: he redeemed Megatro. I like his Gambit in this movie and how he got his body (They have got the metal from his old body anyway) back. Also he give Prime a good fight, proving to be a challenge for entire Prime's squad. I only don't like that he didn't get a single kill, witch is just silly. They should seriously let him kill some Bot, just to show that he permanentnly is a threat. Also, I don't understand why he didn't encounter Autobots in Hong Pong personally. He proves that he can fight with few Autobots, and now he is much harder to kill. Then why just walking around and complaining that Autobots ruined everything?

However, Kruger failed in one thing: I don't know why, but many lines in this movie seems to be annoying, sensless, or too epic. Mostly Galvatron lines, "Why should meet again Prime, because I was reborn" I wonder what was a purpose of the second line, plus, since Megatron was active by this years, why he said that he was "reborn"? Also I'm dissapointed that they did'nt kill Prime - his demise in this one would be nice conclusion. His coma in neat death state for years is all we could get.

Characters where enjoyable, bot on Cybertronian and human sides. Also there is a lot more Transformers scenes in this one than in the others. Also, I really start to feel Cybertronians personalities, witch is why I go for transformers movie in the first place. Action scenes where toned done, and more enjoyable because of that.

All in all, it wasn't a bad movie: The question is, why he couldn't get something like this years ago? After previous total failers it is nice to something, that could at least re-watchable. The main problem with this movie is that this is a sequel of a 3 movies, from witch only the first one was decent. I have a fun of watching Age of Extinction, but still: Godzilla, Edge of Tommorow or new Captain America are just better.

...Are... are you me?

Well, what you said plus what the hell those stuck-up critics have to whine about? It's like complaining that a Big-Mac is not Haute-Cuisine. It's big, it's greassy, it's bad, but man that is SO GOOOOOOOD! AoE is better than DotM, way better than RotF for two reasons. Way more robot screen time and the ammount of slapstick "comedy" have been mercifully reduced to mere seasoning as it should be.

On the highway when Galvatron 1st attacks and Optimus transforms and gets hurled over the overpass, he crashes through a tractor-trailer with a black cab and gray trailer. The front end has a big "M" on the front.
I noticed that semi-trailer truck as well, but it wasn't a refernece to Motormaster. It was the same type of cabover they used for Prime's evasion mode in the movie, which also had an "M" (stands for "Marmon.") :)

I just realise something that could explain some plot holes...

Many people were suprised that there is no Mirage/Dino in this movie. There is even no explain why can't see a record of him beign hunted down and killed...

During chase after the Autobots, we can see that Galvatron is transorming, changig the carriageway and destroying some civilan cars. My theory is that this red card that was sliced in half was indeed a Mirage/Dino.

Autobot warrior was hiding, and he changed his alt mode to more "low profile". He receieved Optimus Prime signal and was on his way. He was knowing where they go and that they are attacked by Galvatron. He was ready to help other Autobots, yet was suprised and killed before he even had a chance to Transform...

This could explain why there is no other scenes with Mirage and why Galvatron decide to ignore Human commands, almost blowing up his cover. He detected hinding Autobot, since he don't want fight few Autobots in direct combat.

what i think made me feel in pure bliss for this movie is the fact that megatron returned in the form of galvatron. and hearing frank welker's voice sealed the deal for me. his first lines "then i have no fear" or something, using the prime megatron voice.

having frank and peter reprise their rolls is so great.
which makes me have hopes for starscream to return as thundercracker or skywarp, maybe even cyclonus.

and ohhh how i shuddered when galv' yelled out. "I AM GALAVATRON!" just like the first film where megs cried out "i am megatron!" definitely love the fact galvatron tricked those damn humans.

Well gentlemen without giving advances only film I liked .... loved it, is not the best in the world but I give 10 points 7 because no lack of reason fails .... I give many ideas appeared in the movie, but on notably they applaud the renewed mind of Michel Bay .... agreed their exaggerated loss of feeling in the story and organize delas ridiculous .... despite criticisms I saw and read, I loved .. next purchase .. bluray mandatory for me ...... as a last point, in the end just tell you a prediction on this movie ..... I'm sure the Transformers fanbase divided

I belive that Hasbro wouldn't alloud anybody to just kill off Optimus Prime or Megatron for real in the middle of the series. They both are not only characters, they are trademarks. It's very unlikely that either Optimus or Galvatron would die permanently, or semi permanently again in Transformers 5.

having frank and peter reprise their rolls is so great.

Ressurection of character 2 movies after his death would be kinda odd. Also, why ressurect only him? For me, death in Bayformers is cheap enough already.

and ohhh how i shuddered when galv' yelled out. "I AM GALAVATRON!" just like the first film where megs cried out "i am megatron!" definitely love the fact galvatron tricked those damn humans.
If he only could get at least 1 tiny kill in this movie, I would be pleased.

However, it is nice that this time not only Megatron was able to get out alive, but also he wasn't wounded. By Bayformers standards, it is something unexpected. Even more, now he had acces to Lockdown's resorces, so he isn't in bad position. It would be so sweet if they let him win finaly in TF 5...

I am tired of trying to convince myself that these movies are good.

I'm a huge Transformers fan and an avid watcher of cinema, I even have sort of a soft spot for DOTM. AOE however, failed as a Transformers story and as a film in general. It payed little respect to the mythos, or characters. It worries me that so many in this thread are happily supporting this cinematic travesty.

Michael Bay will not make the Transformers movie that we all desperately crave if we keep supporting his shabby brand of film making.

All the reviews I've seen pretty much confirm what I suspected: It's going to be every bit as crappy as every other Michael Bay film. I'm voting with my dollars, and refuse to see it, or TMNT, until I can do so for free on DVD at the library or Redbox. I only hope enough other fans of both franchises do the same to prevent more of these abominations posing as movies.

I don't see what makes something like The Avengers better than AOE in the critic's eyes. The Avengers had an even shittier story, one dimensional characters you knew would live in the end, even more over the top humor that didn't even have anything to do with the rest of the movie, and the action didn't even start until 20 minutes before the end of the movie, and everything before those final 20 minutes is boring as all hell. Even that last 20 minutes was basically a ripoff of DOTM's last hour. I'm sick of people talking **** about this movie, when they praise things that are even worse than what they give this movie crap for.

i feel the movie overall is a huge improvement in Bay's movie career. probably his best since Armageddon. Lots of good story, powerfull emotion, and actual character development on more autobots then just bumblebee. there is though one issue with it; it feels hollow or incomplete.

I feel this is due to the 3 villan story arcs; Galvatron, the humans, and lockdown. granted, they are well written, and actually build upon one another, which is excelent, but theres too much in too short of a time, and each one of them is built up like they are the main villan, leaving a gap in the movies closure.

I feel that if the story was done in one of two ways, the movie would feel more complete, while leaving a solid platform for the third movie.

1: Lock down doesnt come back, Galvatron reveals his big master plan for the seed, the new decepticons are too powerful for the autobots alone, they rez the dinobots to take them out (seriously, for a bunch of robots that are practically t1000 liquid metal, they seemed waaaaay to easy to beat) movie ends with lockdown realizing prime is gone, swearing vengeance, maybe even show him talking to the creators, without actually showing the creators, thus setting the stage for all out war in the next movie

or 2: leave out galvatron all together, just focus on the human lockdown alliance, leave the rest of the movie as is, then at the end, show that galvatron was sentient, megatron reborn, and had been behind it all. reveal that the humans had built a brand new army for him, and set the stage for an all out war with the nearly indestructible decepticons for the next movie.

the over all premise would still remain the same, there would be a full feeling of closure, and a stage setting for the next flick.
