Galvatron was awesome in his own right. I loved how he fooled the humans and how he made Stanley Tucci's character real mad at him.

He didn't need to. I think the writers are going to make Galvatron a lot smarter and strategic. That alone will make for a more impressive villain.

I would have put it down to the writer trying to mash too much in together and Galvatron getting pushed to the background to be brought to the forefront in a later movie.

He was anything but strategic other than tricking the humans into building him a new body.

Galvatron was pretty cool though he really needed his own movie to shine, instead of having to share with Lockdown and all the humans hunting/"recycling" Autobots.

In all honesty, Galvtron could be omitted from this movie and little would be lost (and it might've made the movie less super long).

I honestly liked Galvatrons plot in the movie. I would've hate it if he was omitted from the movie. The problem with these movies is that everybody wants too much of everything. That's why it ended up being a long movie. Some wanted more Galvatron and Dinobot plot and if that had happen some would want more human plot. Like I said it doesn't matter which director takes over we will still bitch about something not going our way.

All I can think of is that I paid money to watch flying pink clouds of oxo cubes.

I really wanted to like this movie. But it's just terrible. The acting was good. Everything else was bad. The story was a jumbled-up incomprehensible mess.

Im pretty sure what we say doesn't matter. If it did the movies would'nt have anymore blatant inconsistencies.

I have some many questions about the movie...

I wanted to know more about the Dinobots, why did they even exist in the first place? What was all that about with the sword and the knights etc Why have they suddenly gone on about the makers, when we know they came from Cybertron? Why was lockdown taunting Optimus about the ship what was it originally? When did Optimus suddenly learn how to leave orbit in normal mode. Why was it when Galvatron was fighting he could shift at will yet we see Stinger and all other human made transformers go down like the old decepticons?

There's probably a lot more but those are what came to mind at first.

Optimism is always good. Surprisingly, I still have mine, despite the 3 sequels being less than stellar. (They all have pluses and minuses, some more than others.) I really think the writer (and it IS just 1 writer, Ehren Kruger) has a great opportunity with Galvatron. It was established that he has been reborn, which pretty much wipes the slate clean. He has a new body, no spark, and thus no fear, as he himself stated. So it would be a perfect time for him to show off in the next movie, and become a great villain, very unstoppable and fearsome, perhaps somewhat like Megatron was in the 1st film. He couldn't be stopped by anything other than the All Spark. Galvatron doesn't have this problem, since he has no spark. So I hope this awesome opportunity to make a truly fearful character doesn't get wasted.

Postby No Death for Prowl » Mon Jul 07, 2014 11:57 am

So I saw AOE the other day, mostly out of a sense of obligation more than anything. I even convinced my wife to go see an other movie while I watched this one.

There's no point in bemoaning what these movies are - we all know what to expect now 4 movies into the franchise. Some fans may plead for a new director or reboot of the franchise, but I really do not believe there is a great movie lurking underneath this material. After all, we're talking about chunks of metal whose sole purpose is to destroy each other. Bay's approach is likely the only one that ultimately makes much sense.

However, I did seem to notice a bit of a lack of enthusiasm in the direction of this movie. For all their other failings, ROTF and DoTM at least had some adrenaline-pumping moments; those movies knew they were not to be taken seriously and didn't bother doing so. In a way, I find the Transformers franchise to be Bay's response to nauseatingly self-conscious action movie of today which desperately seeks to find meaning and validation to its hero and his story. Transformers were a way for Bay to say that action movies CAN exist just for the sake of action and sheer entertainment. While Transformers may not be good, it certainly was unique considering the current landscape.

Yet AOE seems like even Bay has realized he can only take that approach so far and now wants to test the audience on how much they can endure, as if to ask "How much of this do you want?"

I didn't find much of what occurred on-screen to be very memorable, but the overall tone of paranoia and anger was curious. Bay has flipped the mythos of the Transformers to turn the Autobots into a highly efficient killing force who are willing to kill humans and even each other for the sake of their own self-interests. When Hound(the best new Autobot) kills a creature just for being too damn ugly, I came to realize that the distinction between the Autobots and Decepticons is barely perceptible anymore.

I feel the franchise should have stopped(at least for a few years) after DoTM, but it's a cash cow that will continue to be milked until it becomes sour.

I finally got to see T4 and it was super sweet! Better than the other 3 by far. It cut out a lot of the annoying human stuff and Marky Mark was better as the lead human, plus the chick was good looking and the bad CIA guys were evil, thats enough for me. The transformers themselves actually got to talk some and had character. I saw it on a big screen in 3D and the fighting looked great. Basically 2.5 hours of giant robots fighting, thats what I wanted. I don't bother/worry about reviews or take what all the supposed Transformer fans complain about. I loved the movie and I am a G1 guy, could it have been better? Yes, I would have changed a couple small things but it blew away the first three. One thing that would have made a better movie is if they made it IDW MtMtE the movie, but that isn't happening lol.

I really don't understand all the hate that has been directed at Michael Bay, even from the very beginning of the movieverse Transformers. He has, to quite a large extent given the hardcore G1 fans what they wanted (and I am taking all the movies, not just AOE). Good examples include:

1) A more kick ass Prime (he kinda got kicked around by Megs in the first one, so what does he do in the second one...he kicks three Decepticon's in the tailpipe no less, before getting stabbed in the back by Megs).
2) Gave us characters we requested for: Jazz, Ironhide and Ratchet (even though he killed them off,)Shockwave (we got him in DOTM), Laserbeak and Ravage (both made appearances in DOTM and ROTF), Dinobots (we got them, even though they did not talk and were on screen for a limited time...but still they are the Dinobots and they are super awesome)and Hound.
3) Dug up some legends (The Fallen and the hinted Quintessons in AOE).
4) Gave us the Matrix of Leadership.
5) Homage to G1 (Evasion Mode Prime's G1 truck mode, and as someone also mentioned Lockdown's gun mode which closely resembled Galvatron's cannon mode in G1).
6) Getting rid of female exploitation and stupid racial and toilet humor (less in AOE).
7) Giving us a believable hero (Mark Warlberg in AOE).

Overall though I think AOE is the best one yet. Good storyline, great action scenes, fleshed out Transformers, more Transformers less humans and most importantly showing us a different side of Optimus Prime (jaded and disillusioned, he has to be reminded why he fought for us humans in the first place). Granted that it was out of character for him to keep saying kill this and kill that, would you act that way if you were stabbed in the back so many times, and have your close friends hunted down, torn apart and melted down (I almost wished they did not do that to poor old Ratchet...but we needed Prime to really get pissed off)?

Like the rest I do have some gripes (Movie is wayyyy too long and could have been shortened! More Galvatron (but then again he is setting him up for the next in the series)), but overall I think this movie is a vast improvement over the first three....can't wait to see what we get next....

I think it's a good movie for 3D but I preferred it in 2D because I got sick off of the 3D. I'm not quite sure why I'm seeing it in 3D again tomorrow though.

I saw it in all formats. 3D IMAX was the best. Regular 3D was second best. And the basic version is awesome. I will watch this at least 5 times as I crave to see it because I think about how cool Lockdown and his ship of horrors is. The most enjoyable movie experience for me this year since Captain America TWS.
