Listen, toots. Roast beef is served with yorkshire puddings and carrot and parsnip. Not with bread. And if it is, as a direct result of roasting too much beef earlier, it's done with mayo. Lots of mayo.

Well, you can put roast beef leftovers in a sandwich, or you can get it sliced. You don't need stupid little puddings or other foo foo to have a good meal. You just need meat, a decent seasoning or condiment, some cheese, maybe some veggies if you are so inclined, and a nice cold soda to wash it all down.....with maybe some Cheetos...mmmm, Cheetos.

You're telling me, with my Italian heritage, to have Cheetos with a roast?! You're dead to me. I have no Moonbase!

Cheetos with a roast beef SANDWICH!!! I had a roast last night, with mashed potatoes and green beans. Would've had rolls if I had gotten to the store. And baby, I was born in Italy. I have that part of me alive and well, at least when it comes to pasta.

And what's wrong with Cheetos?

I can't speak for the nation, but I just had mushroom risotto. Day before? Spaghetti with homemade marinara sauce. Day before? Roast beef, doaphinoise potatoes and some carrot and parsnip. Day before? I think I had a pot noodle.

Are you cooking all of that?

We pretty much eat any kind of "ethnic" food here, plus our own brand of food, like the infamous Cheetos. I've had Chinese and Mexican food in the last two days. I hate to cook, but my Grammy and I whipped up a good homemade dinner last night. I'm fine with stuff out of the box, though. For good meals, I head over to my Dad's and stepmom's place.

Nobody ever bothered to teach me to cook a good meal. And with two kids that become ravished by 4pm, I don't have the time or desire to spend half the day preparing dinner. I do like baking desserts, though. I made tiramisu once. Takes a bit of work and was quite proud of the result.

You guys actually eat kangaroos? Pugh. See, we only eat certain types of meat here: beef, poultry, pork, fish, and sometimes buffalo. We aren't really into exotic foods all that much. Well, maybe some hunters eat deer and bear sometimes, but not the general public.

And Irish people that don't like potatoes? Isn't that like an Irish that doesn't like beer?

No. See, beer is good. It's not a flavourless mush invented by the English so they could take our grain and rape our womenfolk.

And Emu's. That's emu's, not emo's, we just shoot them and use 'em for shark bait or use them to train the many dangerous species we have. 8)

Also roo meat rules, succulent, juicy, sort of like rabbit without the stringiness. Once you've had marsupial you'll never want to go back.

That I'd like to try. I love Gator, but it is more than a little fatty, and I would expect Crocodile is a bit leaner.

And don't let Mb2 make us look too boring. Calamari, ostrich, and frog are all on the American palate.

Calamari - unpredictable; the worst I've ever had was on a beach in Florida, the best I've ever had was here in Boulder at a burger place called The Sink.

Ostrich - lean alternative to beef, but doesn't have enough fat to make a good burger. Better if it's just mixed with beef or bison - keeps the beef flavor but makes it a bit healthier.

Frog - wasn't impressed. Don't bother.

And of course, there's the ever popular Rocky Mountain Oysters. Never had the nerve to try them, but a lot of Americans love them. Missouri was always having testicle festivals. Almost as popular as Oktoberfest.
Check out my books, Titanomachies and Divine Retribution, on my blog!
