Well, what were you expecting, a drill gun? They said they were going to give us 5 new heads, so unless you're willing to skip the combiner head, one of them was always going to have a normal head![]()
Besides, there's not much precedent (like, none at all actually to my knowledge) of them doing any re-tooling besides heads, so Ramhorns drill would be a first.
In the past, Fun Pub has retooled new wings for BotCon 2007 Thrust, and a new neck piece for BotCon 2014 Scorponok. But other than those, it's mostly been new heads.

You do know that in the cartoon it was their bodies that glowed red when the meeting began, right? We see them enter the room colored gray, and when they each turn on a red light on the table, their bodies physically glow red upon their touching the table lights. The lights on the table aren't illuminating the three as we see the bright overhead white light shine directly on Ram Horn and Sea Clamp, revealing them to still be red when exposed to that much brighter light than the little lights on the table. In short, the three are Color Changers.Delta Magnus wrote:So first they mistake the red light illuminating the Council as their actual colours (as opposed to, you know, colouring them like the actual toys). I buy that, trust has/tak to have thought ahead on the technobots;
But, yeah, no real precedent for new parts aside from heads;
Should really reign in those expectations

Let us not forget that there are several toys that are just straight repaints. They cannot afford to do full on retools. Last year Packrat was a straight redeco as was Oilmaster without his shell.

Exactly, the point is: there are no re-toolings, reign in your expectations

But this one repaint still does look very good though. Love the paint on the wings

This is the first time in a while that I've seen someone praise a combiner for having a coherent color scheme. That Victorion does is among the many complaints people have about her deco.gothsaurus wrote:Actually, I think these guys having the same red color scheme may be what wins me over. That's been a huge complaint with combiners, box sets, etc. They don't look like an integrated, coherent design.
But these three red guys will display really really well together. I hope they do more unified color schemes in the future... Hasbro and Takara included.

Mine's less of a prediction but more of a preference: Hot Spot. For five reasons.Bed Bugs wrote:So what's your prediction for Sea Clamp?

"Sih-kay-duh-con" (as in "cicada + con").DeadCaL wrote:Exactly how do you pronounce Cicadacon?
Kikadacon?, Kisadacon? Sisadacon? Sikadacon?

Skydive's wings are more akin to those of MW Skywarp/Thundercracker. Perhaps Air Raid or Firefly would have fit better for MW Megatron/Megaplex.Henry921 wrote:Wow. This guy would've made a great Machine Wars Megatron.
Maybe something for the Subscription Service in the future...

Not unless this is another pre-beast set like 2006 was. No beast modes for the show characters.Bed Bugs wrote:I still think it's not a coincidence that David Kaye is coming to Botcon this year and that prototype of FOC Grimlock with the Beast Wars Megatron hasn't been released.
Totally going to be in one of the Souvenir Sets. I guarantee it. It'll sport the Transmetal Paint Job too, just like Tarantulas.

And if it's a story about the Council, don't expect to see Megatron either. He was beneath them. A lowlife criminal thug, far from a politician.
