But if all the Transformers were asexual war machines that - by coincidence - had all the attributes of females, would you feel the same way? That they would wouldn't have to explain anything until a
male robot showed? Imagine the exact same scenario, but with the gender roles reversed...
Of course, then nobody would like the Transformers, because everyone would associate them as being girls, even if they were just asexual war machines, because Transformers is aimed primarily at boys, that's the reality.
I think people are overanalyzing this Arcee/female robots thing. Female 'bots are only difficult to explain
if you try to explain them in the first place. If you just put Arcee there and don't mention her "female gender", I think less people would raise a fuss than if you actually tried to explain it.
It's like the Force in Star Wars, for the original trilogy, they never really explained what it was, where it came from etc. Then in Episode I when the try to explain it via the "medichlorian" things, then all of a sudden it just didn't work and felt stupid...
Alot of the women I talked to who have seen Transformers seem to bring up the same thing, something along the lines of "wasn't there a girl Transformer? It would have been neat to see her in there..."
