I did a very silly thing. I left my MP Grimlock a little to close to the fire and paid a terrible price.

No - to be honest its not thst bad. Just his left wing / neck section has warped out of shape a bit with the heat. When he is in Dino mode it is most obvious as the panels wont click together now because the heat shrunk it a little.

I have some modelling experience and I was thinking about maybe just flattening the surfaces as much as possible then cutting a small piece of plastic to just cover the damage, attaching it, adding a new larger autobot symbol and gold paint then dividing it down the middle. Hopefully it will look like Grimlock just has an extra plate of armour on his neck section.

Though I have made a lot of scale models in my time I have never tried my hand at doing anything major to a transformer though. Certainly not one as complex and valuable as MP Grimmy. I just thought I would try and get a few opinions from some of you people who know about doing this kind of thing beforehand.

Does my repair sound okay? I can't replace him but I want to be able to put him back into T-Rex mode without him having to look ruined by the obvious scars of my carelessness! lol

P.s - I actually did the same thing to Cybertron Metroplex too - I thought I had learned my lesson but apparently not. :-/

I don't know for sure, but if the deformation is minor and was caused by heat, some controlled heat applied (like with a hair dryer) may allow you to return it (close) to his original shape. Maybe try heating it up then forcing the 2 pieces together?

If that won't work, Aves Apoxie Sculpt may do the trick. Sand down the offending areas then fill them back in and finesse it into shape with sculpting tools (or small exacto blade and a screwdriver in a pinch). Apoxie sculpt sands well too after curing so you can make minor adjustments then to ensure a good fit. Of course, you'll then have to do some paint work to make everything match after all's done.
