The blue and white cassettebot rose on the tips of his boots to peer over the table the various mechs had gathered around to gain a better view of the data Ultra Magnus presented. He tuned out most of the discussion the armored commander was relaying over those summoned in the room, instead patching himself back through to the satellite feed of the least static-filled ESPN channel he could tap into from orbit. He turned the volume down low enough to where he could still listen in to the Earthen program without being caught off guard by anyone who should try and address him.

"...Eject will serve as our counter electronics expert, which goes without saying."

The mentioning of his name made the smaller Autobot turn down the volume of the play-by-play review even further before looking up towards Ultra Magnus with slight disbelief. They had just returned from the battle with the Fallen and were being shipped off towards their next assignment. Eject was hoping he could have at least sat down for a cycle or so and catch up on the events he had missed while dealing with the possessed Hot Rod, but there's no rest for the wicked it seems.

"Well I'm game for this! How we planning on sneaking in? Holomatter avatars, stealth paint, some new cloaking tech Wheeljack cooked up?"

Sandstorm was tingling more and more with every step he took, easily keeping pace with Springer's obvious enthusiasm. Springer, and the Wreckers in general, would always be where the action was. And that kept Sandstorm's pumps and pistons going at top speed. Just where he liked it.

Shuttle Longevity

It wasn't long at all before Sandstorm found himself within the confines of another ship. And just that quickly, they were on their way.

"So we're testing new weapons systems. Did Magnus give any word on what we'll be testing them on?"

Outside the Bounce Chamber

Ironhide and Pipes arrived at the chamber.

"So what do ya think?" Ironhide asked. "Wanta go to Earth?"

"To where? Autobot City?" Pipes asked back. "Ain' things the same down there?"

"I don' know. That's why I suggested us goin'."

"So the Decepticons are done? I mean, they're beat? We don' gotta worry about them no more?"

"Shorty, we always gotta worry about the Cons." Ironhide said, then tilted his head. "Where else can the chamber go?"

"I ain' sure. Maybe there's someone 'round here we can ask." Pipes replied and looked around for someone.

Med Bay

A pair of medical drones entered the facility, pushing a hover gurney in front of them. On the metallic slab lay the restrained and unconscious form of Hot Rod, having been sedated after his recent awakening and outburst over on the Ark-22. Babbling on about a ship and needing to find someone and that their salvation depended on it was more than enough to warrant further sedation and ultimately a transfer to where all of the medical officers were currently stationed.

Hot Rod’s condition was such that bouncing was not a viable option. Therefore, the med drones transferred their patient between ships via a small shuttle craft since neither the Ark-22 nor the Guardian were docked with one another. It made the trip a bit longer, but thankfully the sedatives held and the cavalier had not woken up again. Now on board the Protectobot medical frigate, Hot Rod would receive the care he desperately needed, both physically and mentally.

Once the hover gurney was secured onto the top of a cylinder-shaped base that ascended from the floor, one of the med drones hooked Hot Rod up to an energon IV while the other made its way over to where Axle stood. Tapping the field medic on the arm, the small droid let out a series of beeps, indicating that a new patient had arrived.

“…can get rid of me that fast, old friend. ‘Was’…Ha! You’re gonna see me ‘till the end of my life not...”

Hazy voices. Optimus could hear them, but he couldn’t move. Couldn’t online his optics. They remained dark, grey, and lifeless. Something…was familiar about it. Ratchet. Yes. His old friend. Always there to put him back together. Optimus wanted to reach out. To call his friend’s name. But he was stricken with paralysis. Why?

”…Get him to his feet!”

Blue optics burst back online as Prime was unceremoniously hefted to his feet. Shackles of energy binding his arms to his sides.

“Why heelllllloooo there. Goood morning.”

“Be silent, you idiot.”

A silver warlord with crimson optics sat on a throne. Next to him, an aerial servant with an all too familiar overconfident grin.

Darkness seeped back into his vision.

”Take him to…”

"...Prime up and to the med bay! Scoop, you and I are gonna grab Bucket-head here!"

He was lying flat on his back for some reason. Optimus attempted to rise, groaning with the sheer effort it took to even lift his head.

“W-Where…?” Optimus managed.

"W-What is this...treachery?!"

Megatron. Treachery?

“W..What…?”

- :BOT: -

As the disorientation of the bounce cleared, Blaster rushed over to Ratchet and Prime. His optics went a little wide as Prime uttered an audible groan and began to move. From behind him, he could hear Megatron stirring. What for the love of Primus were these two made out of? How they could even keep going in the states they were in was baffling. Still, Megatron shouldn’t be an issue for Jazz and Scoop the way he was now.

“Ratchet, just tell me how I can help,” Blaster said, looking to the CMO for instructions.

Main Science Lab

First Aid slowly settled down into his chair but his optics remained fixated on the tiny archivist and his Conjunx Endura. It would seem to the doctor that Chromedone and Rewind saw fit that the smaller mech was well enough to leave the med bay.

First Aid sighed lowly as he shook his head gently. He could hear Axle and Ratchet now.

“Uh…” Rewind stuttered, taken aback by the sudden entrance of First Aid.

The Protectobot looked quickly from Rewind to Chromedome who had begun to offer an explanation.

"Okay, I was the one who pulled Rewind from his slab. He seemed well enough to get back into the fray of things that I just got too excited to see him okay. If Axle has an issue with this, don't let him punish Rewind for it, it was my fault..."

After a moment of silence First Aid placed his chin in his hand and rumbled lowly. “No, no. That’s alright…” he raised his head and looked both squarely in the optics. “But…” Before he could finish Rewind quickly cut in.

“Wait a second! Domey!”

And just as the archivist finished Jetfire spoke up.

"With all due respect, First Aid, as long as Rewind sits there and observe as is his main function than I don't see why he would have to leave. If he does have problems, you as well as a few of us here could help out even if we need to run and get some supplies."

“I feel alright, Aid. Really,” Rewind said, “Don’t be too hard on Domey.”

“Okay!” He looked to Jetfire and nodded. “That’s fine. Now…” First Aid looked back at the two mechs. “Rewind, if you have any problems, any at all, you let me know. I don’t want you slipping into unconsciousness or worse.” He then focused solely on Chromedome. “I’m sending a message to Axle letting him know that Rewind left with me. He won’t be as teed off with me as he would be with you.”

He ran his hand down the length of his face as he groaned out, “Please don’t do this again, okay?”

"Skids, First Aid, I hope you two have had a chance to study the medical reports on these six. Perhaps you can offer some... theories as to why they were capable of this procedure."

Shortly after the little incident First Aid’s attention was drawn to Ironfist. After a moment he accessed the data on his pad concerning the Monstructor Six. He took half a breem to study and absorb the information before he looked back up.

“From the looks of things the six of them aren’t unlike the rest of us. But…” He expanded his view of the schematics on his screen. “...there could be several reasons why they were all compatible for this process. They could range from CNA similarities, whether they are certain strands or entire chains, to even the compatibility of their protoforms.”

First Aid looked back up. “Of course there’s a chance there’s absolutely nothing that makes them worthy candidates and they were able to come together by sheer luck.” He shrugged before placing his pad on the table.

Bounce Chamber

As the bright light dissolved around them Ratchet gripped Optimus just a little tighter. The disorientating effect of the orbital bounce was sure to cause havoc with the already injured Autobot leader.

“Hold on, Orion. We’ll have you back at the Med Bay soon.” Ratchet shifted in closer, “Here, lean on me.”

“Ratchet, just tell me how I can help,” Blaster said, looking to the CMO for instructions.

The CMO let out an annoyed grunt. “You want something to do…take some of his weight off of me.” He jostled a bit to get a better hold. “He’s a lot heavier than he looks.” Once Ratchet was steady he raised his free hand and patted Prime on the shoulder, at the same time he began running several scans.

Blaster,” Ratchet lowered his voice, “We have got to get him to the Med Bay right now.” He took a quick glance over his shoulder. “Does Magnus have a plan for…that?” The CMO gestured to the unconscious form of Megatron.

“You want something to do…take some of his weight off of me.”

Blaster smiled and knelt down to take some of Optimus’s weight off of the CMO. He grunted with the effort.

“He’s a lot heavier than he looks.”

“You’re not kidding,” Blaster muttered, rising to his feet as Ratchet did. He adjust his grip on Prime slightly as they stood. The CCO looked at Prime with a worried expression on his usually calm and cheerful faceplate. Prime’s feet shuffled weakly under him as the Autobot leader muttered confused questions.

“Blaster,” Ratchet lowered his voice, “We have got to get him to the Med Bay right now.”

Blaster nodded. “Right.”

“Does Magnus have a plan for…that?”

“I don’t know,” Blaster said, “Best place for him…might be a secure section of the medical bay if you’ve got it. Something with a lot of restraints.” The chief communications officer shook his head. “We’ve gotta worry about Prime right now. I’ll let Magnus know the situation, but for the time being, Jazz and Scoop, you guys have it handled, right?”

Blaster opened up a comm line to Ultra Magnus even as he began to move toward the medical bay.

>>”Ultra Magnus, Blaster here. We’ve got him. We’ve got Prime. We’re taking him to the medical bay right now. He’s in bad shape. We also picked up…You’re not going to believe this. We picked up Megatron too. He’s in the same shape as Prime, and we’ve got him in stasis cuffs. Do you have…any ideas where we could put him? I’ve suggested a secure section of the medical bay, but it’s your call.”<<

Med Bay Proper

For several moments Axle stared down at Hex who averted his optics to the opposite wall avoiding any kind of contact. He reached out getting within touching distance but he withdrew. Axle tried to speak but even that had become difficult. What should he say? Was there even anything to say?

The former surgeon made to take a step forward but was stopped when his arm was tapped by small medical droid. Axle looked down and nodded his understanding when he noticed the new arrival.

He set his optics back on his ward before shaking his head and making his way over to the circuit slab. To his surprise the droids brought over Hot Rod. “Well, this is a surprise. I was just going to send a request to have him brought over here.” Axle looked back at Hex before looking down on the unconscious form of the cavalier.

The fiery 'Bot's frame was still deformed and augmented, but that wasn't what caught Axle's optic. It was the small pool of energon beneath Hot Rod's body. The former surgeon growled lowly before he set to turning the mech's body over.

With one hand he took a long swipe down Hot Rod's back with the palm of his hand revealing a makeshift patch. He let out a grunt and flipped the body over completely so that Hot Rod was now face down.

Axle turned to one of the droids that had moved the slab into place, "Get me a surgical tray." The droid beeped and began to move away. "And grab some neurex satrate and propex solvent!" He called out.

While the little droid was gathering the supplies Axle carefully removed the patch and checked the wound. Large enough to seem worrisome but since Hot Rod was still alive it meant the blow hadn't hit anything vital. Good.

Axle quickly scanned for spinal fractures or breaks and was relieved when the readings came back negative. That meant he could check a bit deeper...which involved some unconventional tools.

Placing his left palm firmly against Hot Rod's back Axle proceeded to dip his right hand into the wound. It was tight and he was only able to slide two fingers in, but that was enough to feel around for what he was looking for.

"Okay, Roddy. Feels like..." He shifted slightly, "Ah, there. You've got two ruptured pistons and..." Another slight twist, "Aaaand one split strut." He slowly, and carefully, slid his hand out and grabbed a towel. "Not to worry. I'll have this taken care of as soon as possible." He deposited the rag on a table next to the slab and ran his hand down the side of Hot Rod's frame. "Your frame, however, will take some time. Not sure how to even start that."

As he finished up his visual inspection the little droid returned with everything Axle had requested. The medic smiled and took the tray. The droid started to move away but was quickly stopped when Axle put a hand on its head. "Oh no you don't. You're staying right here. I need all the help I can get." The droid let out a low bleep but stayed put.

Axle nodded and started picking through the tray, but he stopped when he felt something odd. Slowly he turned to look over his shoulder and caught Hex's eye. The youngling was looking at him? No. He was looking at Hot Rod. Axle shook his head and moved into Hex's view blocking the cavalier from his ward's sight. It still didn't deter Hex's intense stare.

Not wanting to wait any longer to begin Hot Rod's surgery, Axle turned back around and started his work. He'd have to talk to Hot Rod and Hex later.

Observation Lounge

Ultra Magnus leaned back into his own chair and pressed his digits into a tight steeple underneath his chin. As the various members of the units added their perspectives, answered questions or voiced their concerns, the Autobot Commander simply tapped the base of his chin with a muted satisfaction. At least, that was how it appeared on the surface. Behind the carefully constructed facade, he played back various reports he had briefly skimmed through as he had awaited the initial arrival of his summoned officers.

Finally he was snapped out of his reverie as a moment of silent pall fell over the briefing lounge. Sensing the discussions had taken even further twists than he had initially intended, Magnus broke his comfortable position and leaned forward again to the table. "I am aware of the... difficulties... that were incurred during the liberation of the Dinobots. That notion of the actual American Military having a forewarning of our presence has not escaped my knowledge. Hence why wanted you to command this operation personally. As far as the previous condition I had mentioned, I was not referring to the government itself, but it is a pretty safe bet that most of the human civilians have not heard any details that we are lurking in the proverbial shadows. I want to keep it that way for the time being."

Magnus paused briefly as he released an exacerbated sigh. "When we do unveil our presence, it will be done at a time of our choosing and without violating the Tyrest Accords. I harbor no illusions to the difficulty of this assignment. In fact I expect it will be more of a challenge than we have faced in this element in quite some time. Particularly given I doubt the Decepticons will remain idle for long, if we discovered this error, I am sure they will have by now as well. But again, I am confident that this operation is in good actuators Prowl," he shook his head briefly as he considered whether or not to inform the strategist of the request he had made of Jazz before he had dispatched the counter intelligence operative on his side mission. Perhaps it was best to leave that out of the realm of knowledge for now. So far Magnus had not found anything of substance that would allow him to subvert the Tyrest Accords, but again he had not invested the time to look in earnest. That was the task of the cultural expert after all, and Magnus had other options on his plate that required immediate attention.

"As far as infiltration tactics, holographic avatars will be key to the success of this operation, as well as your abilities to act," He turned his optics slowly over to Eject. "I doubt there is a special stealth paint available that would serve our purposes, so I would not get my hopes up Eject. But I am sure that if it is deemed necessary a temporary holographic skeletal over lay can be assigned to you. However in the meantime, as the others make their final preparations, I want you to scan the data tracks and see if you cannot locate a series of computer viruses or worms that would complete the required task of data elimination."

Magnus turned his optics towards Prowl and Red Alert by way of glancing at Hot Spot. "I leave the fate of the missiles to your digression Prowl. If they can be captured, do it. If not destroy them. I am in agreement, to have their weapons at our disposal... particularly their more recent models would be a rather nice prize to mount on the proverbial trophy wall. But I do not want the cons to have them free reign either. Again use your best judgement for the situation."

Nova Strike had remained quiet for most of the briefing, which in itself was not unheard of, but it was unique given the situation that he was about to be thrust in. From his service record, Magnus had learned much about his various operations and counter infiltration endeavors... as well as serving behind enemy lines to hit hard targets. Thus he was caught slightly off guard when the ranger asked a simple question, an answer for which Magnus had no real answer for. "What do we do if the Decepticons decide to unleash holy hell on the civilians?"

"I doubt that will be an issue Nova Strike," Magnus begun before catching himself in a straight dismissal of the potential. "But if that does occur, I recommend you and your teammates utilize your best judgement."

The car carrier commander nodded sagely as the ranger absorbed the only possible answer that could be given. Magnus did not want to involve the organics of this world into their interstellar war, but that did not mean the minions under Razorclaw's direct command held such reservations. Ultra Magnus tapped a key embedded into the onyx surface of the briefing table, extinguishing the holographic image and allowing the ambient light to increase by twenty five percent. "As far as your proposal goes Prowl. I am in agreement that it is time to at least research the possibility of that particular technology. Send the data to Wheeljack and Perceptor respectively. I am sure those two would be interested in seeing the level of detail that you were able to acquire. Adding to the study of the mysterious Ore 13 that was recovered from various sites including the new Autobot City, should keep them busy for a few mega cycles."

As he was about to dismiss the infiltration team, the large doors to the observation lounge slid open. At first the blinding glare of the recently restored and completely bright bridge lamps blinded the tall features of the mechanism. Save only for a familiar silhouette there was little to discern details such as color or expression. Still it was the nearly tangible aura of rage that boiled beneath the Cybertitanium alloys that immediately identified the massive figure... and Magnus could not help but treat himself to a slight flicker of a smirk that tugged at the edge of his lip.

Magnus watched silently as the behemoth of a soldier, a tyrant king and bane to all who crossed him, immediately crossed the threshold of the observation lounge and drove his own hands down upon the obsidian colored table. The Autobot Commander allowed the tensions a chance to vent from the various heat syncs and quietly watched a smaller figure quietly slip in behind Grimlock and take position behind Prowl and Nova Strike. "Swerve, I was unaware you had been transferred from Cas Collier as well." His voice was dashed with only the slightest hint of concern and worry. "You will have to tell me about your transit later."

He looked back towards the brief but still simmering situation between Prowl and Grimlock. "In the meantime. Prowl, your team is officially dismissed. Gather your materials and head to the surface. Data slates in the armory will provide further details of the regions, potential hiding locations and possible cover stories to employ depending on the safe houses used. Monetary notes have also been produced for unit expenditures. But try to use them sparingly. Prowl you stay for a moment longer please."

Quietly Magnus allowed the officers to acknowledge their orders and shuffle out the doors leading toward the bridge. "Yes, Grimlock, it has been a long time." He finally broke his silence towards the Dinobot Commander as the last member of the infiltration team disappeared and the large doors to the observation lounge were sealed behind them. "Have a seat... You to Swerve."

Magnus knew full well Grimlock would prefer to stand, an act of defiance against the chain of command... a trait he had developed since his joining the Autobot Ranks. If Magnus were to be honest, he was with Prowl on a great many respects with regards to Grimlock's contempt for everyone that was not a Dinobot. Though he also knew full well that it was that killer instinct that had served with distinction over the eons. Knowing his own personal biases towards insubordination, Ultra Magnus attempted to keep his tone as level and even keel as possible. "There are two factors that must be addressed here and now between the both of you. Do I agree with Prowl, Grimlock? In part. Your gung ho attitude tends to put a grave many in dangers that you do not foresee. Case in point, your departure with the Ark 19, may have had dire consequences during a rather unpleasant in counter with a corrupted spark. I am sure you are aware of the legends of The Fallen Prime." Magnus pressed the tips of his digits together beneath his chin as he leaned forward.

"Your vast experiences would have proven invaluable. Particularly in leading the charge against this indomitable foe. Still that is in the past... and is a consequence of the earlier action of disobeying orders." Ultra Magnus took in a large volume of air to cool his internal systems and slowly allowed it to pass though his barely open lip actuators. "Because you went off on your own, we lost a good many of our comrades in arms to critical injuries, some may never function again."

Ultra Magnus pushed himself up and out of his chair. He walked towards the port of stars with a barely visible crescent of blue at the bottom. Placing his hands behind his back he allowed his gaze to absorb the vast natural blue of the planet below, even as the nearer silver figure of the Longevity began to slowly descend from view. So Springer and his team have finally left. Good, perhaps...

"Grimlock, you need to follow the chain of command, it is there for a reason. Had you waited, and not taken matters into your own actuators, I would have probably approved of your assessment of the situation here and authorized your mission to retrieve support..." Magnus looked over his shoulder, his expression stern and enough to freeze even the most battle hardened Cybertronian. "You and Snarl are damn lucky that the only Autobot injured, Ironfist, did not bother to file charges... in which case yes, your afts would be in the brig for an entire epoch. And believe me, I would like nothing better than to enforce that ruling."

Returning his blue optics towards the majestic view. "Prowl, I also agree with Grimlock's point of view. We have become far too entrenched in a react policy with regards to the Decepticons on this planet. And the longer that policy was in place, the more difficult it would have been to remove their infestation of this planet. In a sense you are both correct."

Pivoting on his left heel, Magnus allowed his arms to fall to his side. "There is no solution that either of you are going to like... No I am not throwing you into the brig Grimlock. Quite frankly I don't have the processor power to even contemplate the damages to the cell for your incarceration, and I really don't want to hear the complaints I'd get from the engineering staff. However, this incident will be logged in your personal record... But don't think you're off the hook just yet either Grim."

He reached forward and once again activated the holographic display toggle. A pair of commands were immediately strung together and the projection materialized into a familiar image. The Northern half of the Korean Peninsula rotated a few times before zooming into a plus seventy five magnification. A small region was now highlighted that consisted of a heavily forested coast line with no known human constructions along sheer cliffs. "I trust you remember this place Prowl? This location is where the Fallen finally pulled the cloak from his mask and revealed his plans."

A brief moment was granted so that Prowl could acknowledge that simple truth of historical events. Ultra Magnus then tapped in another string of commands into the system and stepped back as the projector shifted the image of the peninsula location to steep angle, adding depth in a different shade indicating its position below sea level. "While these adverse events were taking place were tragic in a great many reasons, having lost two crew members to brutal methods, the assault by the Fallen did prove something of value." The projection was now in an optimal position. "It appears that the Fallen uncovered a nest of Decepticons."

"I am pretty sure you can figure out where I am going with this little presentation Grimlock. This site has to be fumigated before the Decepticons can reinforce it, using it as a place to strike human resources in the region. However, this is not a simple smash and dash assignment Grimlock." Magnus leaned forward, his hands now resting on the table top, supporting his own considerable weight. "I also have reason to believe that there is a Decepticon Computer Terminal in there... a terminal that could have access to the Decepticon Data Tracks, and that information is vital. Particularly when finding potential Decepticon transponder codes that can aid in locating the Thanatos, Obliteration and the Ultrax..."

Ultra Magnus was interrupted by a quick communication burst along the secured frequency he had asked Blaster to establish in case of emergencies. As he listened to the report from the chief communications officer, his body immediately twitched. It was impossible to believe, so impossible that Magnus had to do an immediate play back of the report in his audio receptors so that he could confirm what he had just heard. He then ran an immediate self diagnostic and repeated the process for a third time. Finally he activated the secured line back to Blaster. "I see. Secure him as necessary. Post a security detail... Then I want you and Scoop ready for redeployment. Tell Ratchet I am on my way as soon as this meeting has been concluded. And keep Megatron sedated... Magnus Out."

Involuntarily Ultra Magnus rubbed his temple as if to massage away a processor ache. He knew Grimlock, Prowl and Swerve were watching and thus he forced himself to recover his composure. Slowly he stood up and looked at his two highest ranking officers with a simple nod of acknowledgement. "Grimlock, your support team will consist of Getaway, Blaster and Scoop. Whether you need them or not. Oh and before I forget... Given the heavy losses the Decepticons took at the Battle of Ayers Rock, the Decepticons are more than likely going to resort to their most... powerful... defensive units."

"Decepticon units not seen at the last battle include Thunderwing... so keep a weathered optic out for the tyrant scientist. In addition, the Decepticons introduced a new weapon onto the battlefield. And quite frankly had it been turned against us, the results would have been catastrophic." Magnus pressed a few commands into the holographic projector and brought up an image of the six Constructicons. He allowed them to rotate a few times, expecting their appearance to illicit a chuckle from the Dinobot Commander. In fact Magnus would be surprised if Grimlock was nothing if not insulted by the Decepticon engineering team on the threat matrix. After the forth rotation Magnus brought them all together into their merged form. "This is the other unit you have to be wary of. Its called Devastator. Its level of strength is unknown, endurance unknown. Intelligence and speed however are fairly obvious. Its big and slow. Reacts on instinct and rage rather than on the sheer brilliance of some of its component pieces. We have no idea why this is, and frankly I am rather grateful that there is a flaw in their initial design. This Grimlock is your secondary objective. In order to find a way to counter this Gestalt, we need as much information as you can get us. Should Devastator appear, use extreme caution, it knocked even the Fallen for a loop. Get the scans if you can, but the primary objectives remain, computer core data and destroying the con base."

Magnus deactivated the terminal and stood up to full height. "To recap Grimlock, Assault the Korean Decepticon Base. Have infiltration team hit base and acquire intelligence from Con computer terminals as well as get as much intelligence as you can with regards to this Devastator should it appear. Finally blow the whole thing to Unicron's exhaust port. Any questions?"

Outside the Med Bay

Arcee stood outside the medical bay. She had followed Hot Rod's transport, and now she was waiting around to find out what the diagnosis is. But she was getting impatient. Hot Rod was her close friend, some would dare to say too close, and she hated not being by his side, especially after what he went through. Finally, she couldn't take it any more. She decided to step inside, protocol be damned.

Once in the med bay, she walked around, looking at some of the bots in there getting various treatments. She didn't see Hot Rod anywhere, so she figured Axle must be working on him. She headed toward the exam room.

Longevity - Pilots Cabin

Sideswipe rubbed the back of his processor after his brother proceeded to deliver his slight punishment for getting them tied up in this business instead of going through with their original plan. Sheesh, not his fault he had no idea that Springer was going to need the ship...

"So we're testing testing new weapons systems. Did Magnus give any word on what we'll be testing them on?"

"He wasn't all too specific on the details..." Springer replied to his fellow Triplechanger as he rested the side of his faceplate against the top of his knuckles. "Maybe a couple of asteroids or something."

Or whatever poor Decepticon we happen stumble upon out there...

"Uh...Springer?" Arclight called from the doorway causing the green and yellow mech to snap back into reality. He pivoted in the command chair so that he was now positioned in manner that faced the teal green femme. "What, uh...where do you want me?" Before Springer could issue a response, the golden-cladded warrior below toss up his own suggestion to the femme.

"Option's yours." He stated as he turned halfway in his chair. "Either of the stations Sunstreaker suggested would be your best bet, but I'm not one to question your own skill palette. Might not be too lively in the back of the ship though..."

He peered over the small display screen fixated within the arm of command chair, quickly uploading the coordinates Perceptor had provided him prior to his team disembarking.

"Let's see what Perceptor has picked out for us." Springer stated as he finalized imputing the coordinates and turned himself back forward, "Alright Sideswipe, put us in cloak and let's hear those engines hum."

"Aye aye." The Crimson warrior flatly replied as he engaged the onboard clocking systems and slowly accelerated the Longevity further away from the Guardian.

Red didn’t like it. He didn’t like Hot Spot’s answer. Didn’t like the response to Hot Rod. Didn’t like the distracting tangent about Drag Strip. Not. One. Bit. He didn’t like Prowl’s response. Didn’t like this situation. For the love of all that was good, he COULD NOT be in a thousand places at once! Even though Red Alert clearly needed to be to even get an idea of what was going on anymore!

There was a pause as Grimlock entered the room. Red eyeballed him. He also eyeballed Grimlock’s companion, Swerve. What was he doing here? Optics flicked back to Magnus as he addressed their little group with further orders and dismissed them. Red Alert twitched. But…but…He had…so much to do before…being deployed. Couldn’t Magnus see that? But…orders were orders…He had to make sure all was in readiness for his departure!

Red Alert dashed out of the observation lounge to do just that. Swerve watched the uppity security officer go, feeling a tad uncomfortable. He hopped up onto one of the recently vacated chairs near Prowl and glanced up at the black and white strategist.

"Swerve, I was unaware you had been transferred from Cas Collier as well." Magnus’s voice was dashed with only the slightest hint of concern and worry. "You will have to tell me about your transit later."

“Oh, yeah, sure thing! It’s uh…quite the tale,” Swerve replied before looking back to Prowl.

“Uh…How’s it goin’?” Swerve hadn’t really absorbed most of what Magnus had said other than his intial greeting. Most of it wasn’t directed at him…so…no real reason to pay attention. Still, seeing the others move out of the room made him wonder if he shouldn’t leave too.

"Have a seat... You to Swerve."

Swerve blinked and looked at Magnus. Me? What could he possibly want with him?! As Magnus spoke, Swerve felt more and more like a third invisible wheel. He twiddled his thumbs idly. The acting Supreme Commander paused for a moment in his briefing as if something were bothering him. Weird. Magnus continued to brief Grimlock on his assignment though he was anything but brief.

” Any questions?"

Swerve raised his hand.

“Yes! What am I doing here?”

Corridors - Leaving Bounce Chamber

"...Jazz and Scoop, you guys have it handled, right?"

"Geh! Handled is a pretty loose term." Jazz grunted as he tried to hoist the Decepticon warlord back into a more comfortable grip. "Dude's not made of aluminum foil! C'mon Scoop, don't leave the heavy lifting just to me." Jazz then peered over towards Blaster, who was busy lending a hand to the downed Prime with Ratchet.

"So what did-*huff* Magnus say about Mega-Con here?"

Cooridor - Heading to Bounce Chamber

"You're saying you didn't hear anything down there?" The white and blue scout asked as he strolled down the hall in his fresh pair of legs.

"Shortie, all I heard was the screeching of those fiendish hellspawns scorching my fine finish. But not once did I hear anything you could regard as 'divine intervention' try and talk directly to me."

Tailgate brought a hand up to the back of his processor and scratched at the metal as he tried to wrap his mind around why that voice he heard back on the Earth's surface sounded so familiar. Maybe he was just hearing things following his accident in the battle. Tracks certainly didn't hear anything, and neither did any of the medical drones who were quick to slap on some new leg servos for him. Best to just pass it off as a side effect of hitting his head in the dirt for now, least he wanted to head back to the medical ward and get it looked at.

"So where you off to, Tracks?" The minibot quickly inquired as to change the topic.

"Kup sent out a call to any available 'Bot to met him down on Earth for something, and between you and me I can't bother to be stuffed up in this drab of an environment much longer." The corvette-former ginned before as he shifted into another thought. "That Australia wasn't the best of places nor times to get some fresh air and stretch the suspension springs out a little. But anywhere down on that blue marble where I can sport my exquisite detail work is certainly far better than being cramped up in here!"

As the two mechs rounded the corner, they were soon met with the optics of two of their fellow Autobots. Tracks gave a welcoming smile while Tailgate continue to stare off in dumbfounded manner.

"Ironhide! Pipes! Great to see you both in one piece!" Tracks cheered with arms spread wide before walking over next to the Crimson security officer. "Or should I say, partially in one piece? Ain't that right Old-timer?" The blue warrior teased, his elbow joint nudging against Ironhide's own arm. "You mechs heading down to see Kup too or am I just interrupting some fine gossip?"

Main Science Lab

Chromedome sighed with relief as First-Aid took a metaphorical bullet for Rewind's leave from the med bay. The mnemosurgeon placed a hand on the tiny archivist's shoulder plate before looking back to the Protectobot medic.

"Thanks 'Aid, I owe ya one." He stated wholeheartedly before shifting his focus back towards the holograms and information regarding this 'Devastator' monstrosity the Constructicons managed to formulate.

"Wow..." Chromedome muttered in awe as he studied the projection. "Never actually saw that thing during the battle. Hate to admit, but it's rather impressive."

The tan and white Autobot stood back with his left actuator knuckle resting against his mouth guard and his other arm tucked underneath his elbow while he continued to observe the raw data that was presented in front of them while his fellow mechs in the scientific field all tossed in their inquires and proposals for such a process. He took two small steps forward while Jetfire was elaborating on the focus of the Autobot special teams.

"All sound like logical theories, but modifications can be done to any of us, really." Chromedome injected as one of his mnemosurgical needles extended from his index finger. He tapped the holographic projection of Devastator in front of him with the needle like it was a stylus. He ran through several of the recorded files he had on hand and watched as the dimwitted brute of green and purple thrashed his way "Anything that size needs a lot of processing power. If the Constructicons were able to build a secondary brain module for that thing," he began by pointing to the gestalt's combined processor, "the combiner as a whole would be less...well l, dumb. A second processor unit within that head would be able to properly distribute command functions throughout the entirety of all six members while the primary one was capable of reasonable thought. This however, shows us that they have managed to institute another theoretical science I've not since studied for some time now." His needle-tipped actuator slid down over the combiner' holographic torso while he let his previous thought linger in the air so each occupant in the room could absorb the information.

"It means they've successfully melded six different thought processes into a single cohesive conscience of its own..."

Before Grimlock had joined the briefing, Ultra Magnus addressed Prowl’s various concerns, which included the upcoming mission as well as the study and development of their very own phase sixer. The City Commander acknowledged that he was aware of the events surrounding Area 51 and the reawakening of Shockwave and the Dinobots. Likewise, he was also aware of the potential that the U.S. military was already alerted to the existence of Cybertronians. This was the reason that Prowl was put in charge of the mission. Of course, just because the military possibly knew of their existence didn’t mean the average civilian did. Just like Autobots, high-ranking Earthlings kept their own secrets from the regular populace, as well.

Magnus then went on to say that the Decepticons were likely aware of this oversight, and that he was confident in Prowl’s ability to handle the situation accordingly. “I will do my best, as always, sir,” the military strategist replied with a respectful nod before the Autobot leader began talking to Eject about holomatter avatars and the idea of using a holographic skeletal overlay on the small cassettebot. Prowl turned to Blaster’s minion with a quizzical look. “Don’t you have a holomatter generator installed, Eject? You could just reprogram it to create a holomatter outer shell of sorts that would surround you in order to look like a human. You’re about their height, so it should be rather easy to do. It’s either that or remain in your tiny alt mode and be carried around by one of our avatars. Your choice. Personally, I’d go with the first idea.”

Prowl then returned his attention to Ultra Magnus as the large mech revealed that the fate of the missiles would be left in the black and white’s hands. Save them if possible, destroy them if necessary. It was something Prowl was going to do regardless. Those were the only two logical options, after all. Then, finally, the military strategist heard what he wanted to hear regarding the scans of Sixshot. Magnus granted Prowl’s request to have someone study the data in preparation for the eventual development of an Autobot “phase sixer”.

“Excellent,” Prowl replied, almost giddy. “I’ll send the information from the scans directly to Perceptor and Wheeljack once this briefing is over. Thank you, Commander.” Of course, even if Magnus had not granted him permission, Prowl would’ve still found a way to begin researching the data. An Autobot sixchanger was not a question of ‘if’ but a question of ‘when’, and the strategist would be the one holding the reigns.

Once Grimlock had entered the room, the overall mood began to change, at least for Prowl at any rate. The Dinobot Commander was barely tolerable, but because he and his monstrous unit were a valuable asset to the Autobot war machine they were kept around and out of the brig. This time, unfortunately, would be no different.

Ultra Magnus then promptly dismissed Prowl’s team, but the military strategist was asked to remain a while longer so whatever differences between he and Grimlock could be ironed out. Swerve was asked to stay, as well. Wait, Swerve’s staying? Prowl thought to himself as he looked over to the minibot who had just said hi to him.

“Hello,” Prowl replied stoically as he returned his attention to both Grimlock and Ultra Magnus, the latter of which began by admonishing the Dinobot leader for stealing the Ark-19 and going off on his own, leaving the rest of the Autobots to battle the Fallen without the Dinobots’ battlefield expertise. As a result, many ‘Bots suffered severe injuries and some would likely never be the same again. It was a foolish thing for Grimlock to do at a time when his unit was needed the most. Not to mention Magnus would have probably approved of Grim’s plan to retrieve the Trion had he just been more patient and approached the City Commander with his idea.

Prowl wondered if Grimlock even cared about those who were injured. The rex-former had always been the stubborn sort, doing what he wanted, when he wanted and how he wanted, not caring about what anyone else said or thought. Still, there was one thing the Dinobot leader cared about and that was missing a major battle where he could’ve let loose his power and rage on a worthy opponent. Deep down that must be eating away at him right now. Prowl simply leaned back in his chair with his arms folded across his chest plate and waited for a reaction.
_______________

At the end of the table, Grimlock stood silently as Ultra Magnus laid into him. The Dinobot leader knew he was going to get a lecture from someone, he just wasn’t expecting it to come from the City Commander. Prowl had been the anticipated source. Instead, the black and white sat in his chair with a smug expression plastered across his visage, enjoying every moment of the rex-former’s situation. How Grimlock wanted so much to punch a rather large hole right in the middle of the prick-bot’s faceplate. Luckily for the strategist, Grim kept his rage in check and continued to listen to Magnus speak.

As the events of the Fallen were told to him, Grimlock felt a slight sense of regret creep into his processor. The actual Fallen Prime of legend had appeared and unleashed an unholy hell upon both factions down on the surface of the Earth. By the sounds of it, the battle had been long and hard with both sides suffering losses. The Dinobot Commander wished he had been here for that. Grim and his elite unit could’ve ended the fight all the sooner and perhaps even attacked the Decepticons right afterwards while they were still in a weakened state. It was a missed opportunity for them, but the past was the past and nothing could change that now. At least, the City Commander understood that they needed to establish a more proactive policy when dealing with the 'Cons instead of constantly having a reactive stance. That much they could now agree on whether Prowl liked it or not.

Thankfully, Ultra Magnus had no intention of throwing Grimlock or the other Dinobots into the brig since Ironfist wasn’t interested in pressing charges. That was fine with the rex-former as being cooped up in a holding cell would be a fate worse than death. Not to mention Grimlock wouldn’t allow it, anyway, thus leading to even more problems. Instead, the City Commander had a new mission for Grim and his unit, one that would take them down to Earth to infiltrate and ultimately destroy a Decepticon base which had been inadvertently uncovered by the Fallen’s initial appearance. There was also the task of procuring information from the base’s computer core, which had to be done before the facility, itself, was demolished. Whatever. At least they were finally getting back into the fight that had eluded them for so long.

A holo display of North Korea showed the location in question, one that Prowl was apparently already aware of. The assignment was then laid out for Grimlock in as much detail as possible, including the fact that the Dinobots would have a support team that included Getaway, Scoop and Blaster. The rex-former let out an audible groan at the mention of other Autobots joining his Dinobots. They preferred to work alone. Always have as other, lesser ‘bots tended to slow them down. Unfortunately, it was a necessary evil in this case considering there was computer data that needed to be obtained, which was not the Dinobots’ forte. They were warriors, not computer technicians. That duty would be left up to the trio of smaller, weaker mechs that would be along for the ride.

Magnus continued on, showing an image of the separate Constructicons followed quickly by a reveal of Devastator, their recently established combined form. It had made its grand entrance during the Fallen battle, which was something else the Dinobots had regrettably missed. The titan’s endurance and strength were unknown but it was slow, driven by instinct and rage, not too dissimilar from the Dinobots, themselves. Except, of course, the Dinobots were much smarter than this giant brute seemed to be. Well, at least most of them were, Sludge not withstanding.

"Me surprised Scrapper and his lot able to achieve combination," Grimlock commented, knowing full well that this technology had only been utilized once before with deadly results. "Likely had Shockwave's help as him Jhiaxus' old student."

Ultra Magnus then gave a final recap of the mission before opening the floor to questions. Grimlock simply shook his cranium. “No questions. We will take care of base while others take care of data. If this Devastator shows himself then we take care of him, too. Him slow and him stupid. We Dinobots are smart and many. We will overwhelm him, knock him apart. As for scans, we’ll get them if we have chance. We fighters first, scanners second. And don't worry about Thunderwing either. We handle him, too.”

Grimlock then paused for a moment as he considered what to say next. Much had happened while the Dinobots were away. Things could have been different had they remained here instead of going to the Alpha Shipyards, but would things have necessarily been better or was the procurement of the Trion a necessary evil in and of itself?

“Me just want to say one thing, Ultra Magnus. Maybe you right. Perhaps we could’ve made difference had we not taken Ark-19 and left,” Grimlock conceded in a respectful tone. “But, it could’ve been worse, too. Who knows what would’ve happened if we involved in battle. But, what done is done. Can’t change it. Only move forward and crush Decepticons with new ship and new army. Dinobots not leave again. We stay to win fight and destroy ‘Cons! You have me word.”

After a brief astrosecond there was the sudden sound of clapping that filled the room. The rex-former looked over to see Prowl giving him a round of mocking applause as the prick-bot leaned forward once again in his seat. “Bravo, Grimlock, bravo!” The military strategist shouted as he stopped clapping and glared at the Dinobot leader. “That was inspirational. It really was. Although, it was missing on key ingredient. Now, now, don’t tell me, let me think. Oh, yes! An apology!” Prowl paused for a moment to let that word sink in to Grim’s massive brain cavity. “I didn’t quite hear an apology for what you did.” The black and white turned to look down at the minibot next to him. “Did you hear him apologize, Swerve. Hmmm? No?” Prowl looked back up at Grimlock. “No, he didn’t hear one, either. I think you left that part out, Grimmy ol’ boy.”

Grimlock uttered a deep growl that would’ve made most mechs cringe in fear, but Prowl had little reaction to it, which made the Dinobot leader even more annoyed. “Me leave nothing out. Me no apologize for doing what me thought was right at time. If me had known Fallen was going to show up, we would’ve stayed. Not going to second guess decision after fact. It is what it is. Me and Dinobots here now with new ship and army. That what important.”

“Indeed,” Prowl responded with a frown etched deeply into his faceplate. At least Grimlock and his dino-dolts wouldn’t be accompanying him on his mission to Hawaii. They certainly wouldn’t fit in there as dinosaurs have been extinct for millions of years and metal versions would certainly stick out like a sore thumb regardless. The black and white considered telling the rex-former to change his alt mode to better blend in and ensure infiltration protocols were not broken. However, Grim would likely not take kindly to that, either. “Just do what you’re told this time, Grimlock. No funny business.”

The Dinobot Commander glared down at the prick-bot, his fists clenched tightly before looking back over at the Autobot leader. “Is there anything else, Magnus, or can me and Dinobots go bust some ‘Con head plates in?”

Magnus could not help himself as the normally stern image he portrayed in front of his subordinates flickered. A small satisfying smile tugged at the corner of his lips again and again as Grimlock redressed the events that had transpired. Eventually it culminated in the renewed commitment to the defense of this world that was becoming more and more a focal point in the on going civil war.

"I know you will honor your commitment Grimlock," he spoke after a brief moment as the tensions flared between the Dinobot Commander and Prowl. "In the interim, prepare your strike team as you review the battle logs from that first engagement. If you feel you require a bit more... versatility in your supporting staff, do not hesitate to address it."

Finally Magnus turned his optics towards both his generals. "Two more things before you both depart. First, reserve units will be considered limited. Most everyone involved in the Battle of Ayers Rock, was damaged or critically wounded. Some psychologically traumatized beyond recent abilities to cope. Many of those have been dispatched to the foundation site for the new Autobot City colony, the others are not medically cleared for action. Therefore your pool will have to be combined in this effort. Aerialbots will serve as the primary first response combat team. If you feel that your position requires their support, do not hesitate to summon them. As for the more discrete operations, units of Hot Spot's squad will be made available. I doubt either unit will be required, but it is better to know what resources you have available should you require them." It was extra knowledge that would help the two commanders devise their strategies. And while Ultra Magnus did not necessarily believe that the events in the American Island Outpost would devolve into the chaotic tremors of battle inside a populated area, it never hurt to have precautions in place should events turn sour in a hurry.

Ultra Magnus paused as he weighed the pros and cons of releasing the knowledge that Jazz's unit had returned with... guests. If Grimlock's or Prowl's team encountered the likes of Soundwave during their operations, then the knowledge would be ripe for the plundering. At this stage, Magnus could ill afford to take that risk. But there was the ultimate fact that two of the officers he had assigned to support Grimlock were directly involved in Jazz's operation to the surface. While Blaster was capable of resisting Soundwave's invasive techniques, Scoop was not as... gifted. Still even the infantryman was capable of keeping his thoughts focused on the task at hand and his mind off of irrelevant data. But for Magnus it boiled down to one simple fact, Grimlock and Prowl deserved, nay... had a right to know, at least part of what they had the right to know.

"Finally," he began slowly as the smile faded from his expression. He pressed the tips of his fingers together and rested his arms on the inactive console table. "As you have already guessed. Jazz's team has returned from the surface, their initial report places the returning number of units at approximately plus one. In other words, the preliminary report is that they have recovered the source of an Autobot Command Signal... a signal that belonged to Optimus Prime."

The City Commander's optics darted from the stunned expressions of the three Autobots who were present. Out of the four still remaining, Magnus had little doubt that Swerve would be the most confused. A condition that would be remedied in due course. "The condition considered critical and will require a great deal of medical attention. I am also willing to bet that a great deal of psychological therapy will also be required, but for now..." he allowed the thought to fade into the unspoken acknowledgement of respect for his brother and their leader.

"In the meantime, you are both dismissed to achieve your assigned tasks. Good luck, the both of you."

After a moment the two commanding officers were gone and the chamber doors to the Observation Lounge were secured, Magnus finally addressed the small metallurgist. "My apologies you had to be used to bear witness to that Swerve. Adding to your discomfort was not ideal, but it was necessary. Now then, as for why I asked you specifically to remain after the others had been asked to their assigned tasks... I want you to give me a brief report as to the operational status of the Trion as well as personal ideas for modifications to bring her up to combat capacity. I also want a report on the situation at Cas Collier."

Medical Bay -- Private Area

The completion of Smokescreen’s new right forearm hadn’t taken as long as Wheeljack had originally anticipated. It was a standard arm for a mech with the rallybot’s frame type and was relatively easy to assemble especially for an engineer like ‘Jack. Considering his penchant for blowing his lab up as he worked on and tested various inventions, Wheeljack sometimes sold himself short when it came to his capabilities. It was a ridiculous notion. Regardless of his mad scientist-like ways, the mechanical engineer was still one of the greatest minds the Autobots had to offer and a good soldier, as well.

With the forearm’s construction finished, Wheeljack wasted no time in beginning its transplantation onto Smokescreen’s severed limb. Being an engineer, ‘Jack had some knowledge when it came to medical procedures, although not nearly as much as Ratchet or Axle. Still, this simple attachment of an appendage was not out of his league. All he needed to do was make the necessary connections both externally and internally and all would be fine. To ensure he didn’t miss anything, Wheeljack called for one of the med drones to assist him. The small droid hovered through the privacy curtain, letting out a series of beeps as it did so.

“Go to the left side of the berth please,” Wheeljack said as the mechanism glided to the opposite side. The engineer then picked up the newly completed forearm from the make shift work table and carried it over to Smokescreen’s slab, placing it down next to the diversion expert’s right leg where there was some room. “Okay, Smokey, this shouldn’t take too long so hang in there.”

“No problem, Jackie,” Smokescreen replied as he kept his optics fixated on Tracer’s prone form over on the second med berth. “You think she’ll be out *cough cough* for much longer?”

After a brief glance back at the blue scout, Wheeljack continued focusing on preparing the rallybot’s new arm for transplantation. “Hard to tell. It still might take a while, but she’ll be fine. Try not to worry even though I’m sure you will anyway.” The engineer then finished preparing the severed stump for the upcoming procedure, eliminating any frayed wirings and the remainder of the old elbow joint that had been cut in half. Thankfully, Smokey had used a blow torch to severe his forearm and thus it was mostly a clean wound. Once the damaged area was cleared away, the new arm and elbow joint could be attached with little difficulty.

“Heh, yeah, I’ll always *cough* worry about her,” Smokescreen managed to say just as Wheeljack motioned for the medical drone to increase the dosage of painkillers into his systems via the IV.

“I’m sure you will,” the engineer replied with a grin. “Now, just relax. I’m about to start. You’ll be good as new before you know it.”

“Cool, I can’t....wait....” the rallybot tried to say but was cut short as the new sedatives quickly worked their magic and Smokescreen grew increasingly more groggy.

Wheeljack smiled as he looked over to the med drone. “Keep a close watch on his vitals. Alert me if anything appears abnormal.” The droid beeped a response as the engineer took ahold of the new forearm and brought it near the now cleaned up stump. “All right, let’s begin.”

The mechanical engineer went to work, making the primary outer connections first. The new forearm also included a new elbow joint, which slid nicely into the open socket of Smokescreen’s upper arm. Pulling out a soldering instrument from his toolkit, Wheeljack carefully fused all of the proper couplings together in order to secure the forearm into place.

Once that was done, the inventor turned his attention to the internal workings of Smokey’s appendage, soldering a variety of pre-existing wires from the upper arm to the new wires of the forearm. Energon tubing had to be threaded into the new limb and connected, as well. Needless-to-say, it was a much more complicated process than the external connections had been.

All the while the med drone kept a close optic on the procedure, beeping whenever Wheeljack had overlooked something. “I know I know. I see it,” Wheeljack uttered at one point in response to the drone’s most recent warning.

“See what?” Smokescreen asked in a very woozy voice, not feeling any pain whatsoever.

“Nothing, Smokes. Everything’s fine. No worries.” Wheeljack let out a deep sigh as he continued working. After a few breems had passed, the mechanical engineer switched off his soldering device and placed it back inside his toolkit. “Well, that should do it? Wouldn’t you agree?” The med drone let out another series of beeps, indicating that 'Jack had done a good job. “Thank Primus,” the inventor said as he looked down at the diversion expert. You have a new arm now, Smokey.”

“Yay!” Smokescreen exclaimed in a drowsy display of excitement. “Awesome! Woo hoo!” The rallybot raised his new arm up and tried waving it around some, but Wheeljack was quick to stop him and place it back down onto the med berth.

“Whoa, take it easy there, Smokes. It’s a brand new arm that I just attached two astroseconds ago. Don’t overuse it too quickly. You have to break it in slowly. Not to mention you still require a long stay in a CR chamber to fix your other damages and apply your paint scheme to your forearm.” Wheeljack shook his cranial unit, letting out a slight chuckle.

“Ah, gotcha!” Smokescreen replied, giving Jackie a thumbs up...with his new thumb.

“All right, let’s get you into a CR chamber, shall we?” Wheeljack said as he disconnected the IV line and helped Smokescreen up from the medical berth. The rallybot was very wobbly on his feet, but the mechanical engineer was able to keep a tight hold on him. Guiding the red and blue mech over to the nearest unit, Wheeljack carefully placed him inside and secured him on the internal slab. “Okay, enjoy the rest, Smokes. When you get out I’m sure Tracer will be awake and waiting.”

Smokescreen smiled and nodded as the CR door slid shut with a hiss and the repair cycle began. As nanite-rich fluid flooded the chamber, Wheeljack turned away and motioned for the med drone to leave before moving over to Tracer’s berth where she still lay motionless. The mad scientist checked her vitals and found that paralysis still had a hold of her, but otherwise she seemed fine. Hopefully, she would awaken before Smokescreen was out of the CR chamber. Otherwise, ‘Jack would have one very upset rallybot on his hands.

"They're over here, Lord Megatron."

Megatron turned and stalked his way up to the top of the scrap hill. All around, cityscape of Kalis was in flames. When he reached the top, a small cadre of Autobot captives were arranged on their knees, energo-chains locking them together and a team of Seekers with their arm cannons pointed at them from multiple directions.

"The holdouts," Ratbat said.

"No others?" Megatron responded coldly.

"The rest ran. But we should have no trouble picking up their trail. There were several wounded."

"Good. Notify Soundwave," Megatron said, before a slight grin played at the edges of his mouth. "For a former senator, you have shown yourself to be extremely capable of rooting out other vermin."

Ratbat's mouth opened and a word almost began to form, but it stopped. As a politician, he had also clearly learned the value of when and when not to speak. Instead, he simply flapped off into the night sky with a screech.

"You haven't won, Megatron!" the Autobot soldier choked out, drawing Slagmaker's attention back to the group. He didn't recognize any of them. More of Prime's sacrificial lambs off to slaughter.

"Oh, I think I have. One victory compounds upon another," Megatron said, the flames dancing in his crimson optics.

"YOU CALL THIS VICTORY!?! This-this DEATH!!!"

"Think of it as a cleansing fire. I've purged the impurities from the senate. From Tarn. From Kaon. Vos. Helex. Tesarus. Now Kalis," Megatron said, looking down and pointing at the red Autobot insignia. "But you fought well. You will take my mark and undergo the rite...or..."

"I'LL DIE FIRST!"

"THEN DIE YOU SHALL!" Megatron roared, his vocal intensity overwhelming the soldier's own as he raised his fusion cannon, took a marginal step backward and fired, obliterating the majority of the soldier's chassis as well as causing critical damage to his nearby compatriots.

"Finish the rest," Megatron mumbled, his optics flickering between their normal bright red hue and otherwise complete dimness.

Ironhide looked down at his arm, then back up at Tracks.

"Don't do that again, pretty bot." he said gruffly. "I ain't one of yer touchy-feely friends, if ya know what I mean."

"Uhh..." Pipes interrupted. "We were looking for someone who can tell us exactly how the chamber works."

Observation Lounge / Bridge

Grimlock stood stoically at the opposite end of the conference table from where Ultra Magnus sat, his optics locked on the new Autobot leader. Magnus was no Optimus even though they shared a similar framework which the City Commander hid underneath his outer Apex Armor. Still, Prime’s brother was a force to be reckoned with in his own right. He just wasn’t up to Grimlock’s unattainably high standards. The rex-former believed that only the strongest should lead and in his mind Magnus was not the strongest. Of course, Optimus was another matter. The Dinobot Commander saw a true leader in Prime, one that was both powerful and intelligent at the same time. Optimus was one that Grimlock could follow even if they didn’t always agree on how the war should be fought. Regardless, Prime always had the rex-former’s respect and loyalty.

Ultra Magnus, on the other hand, had not yet proven himself worthy to be leader. Nevertheless, Grimlock would allow him a chance given his connection to Optimus. However, if Magnus proved himself to be a failure in the role, then Grimlock would have no choice but to step up and assume the position, himself. The Dinobot Commander always believed he could toughen the Autobots up and ultimately lead them to victory over the Decepticon forces. That belief had not wavered even now.

With the word given to prepare his strike team, Grimlock reached down and picked up a data slate from the table which contained the battle logs from the previous encounter in North Korea. The rex-former glanced through some of the files as Magnus informed him and Prowl that the Aerialbots and Protectobots would serve as back-up squads should they be needed. Grim understood the situation and nodded in the City Commander’s direction. Silently, the Dinobot leader was about to turn and exit the observation lounge when Magnus began to speak once again. This time he addressed the return of Jazz’s team from the surface. Grimlock had been unaware that there was another mission already in progress since the battle with the Fallen, but he listened at any rate just in case there was some nugget of information that might pertain to his own assignment.

The revelation of Optimus Prime’s return, albeit in critical condition, was enough to shock both Grimlock and Prowl, the latter of which abruptly leaned forward in his chair, his jaw hung open. “They found him?” Prowl muttered just loud enough for everyone still present to hear. The military strategist did not look over at Grimlock, whose own visage betrayed no emotion whatsoever at hearing the news. The military strategist then sat back slightly as Magnus brought them up to date on Prime’s condition before dismissing both of them to their assigned tasks.

Prowl required more info, but he quickly realized that the City Commander didn’t have it as yet. Otherwise, he would’ve undoubtedly provided it. If the black and white wanted to know more details about Prime’s current status he’d have to acquire that information for himself. “Understood, Commander Magnus,” Prowl said as he stood from the table. “Just know, sir, that I will be checking on Prime’s condition personally before my team disembarks.”

With a nod of respect given to Ultra Magnus, the military strategist moved away from the table, ignoring Grimlock as he walked towards the door. As he exited the lounge and entered the bridge proper, Prowl turned to the Protectobot Commander to address him. “Hot Spot, I need you to gather the team down in the armory as Magnus directed and make preparations while I’ll go to check on Prime’s condition. I shouldn’t be too long. I’ll meet you down there as soon as possible. Then we will disembark for the surface.” Wasting no further time, Prowl proceeded through the bridge doors and into the corridor beyond.

Meanwhile, Grimlock remained standing in the lounge as his mind processed what he had just been told. It seemed that Ultra Magnus would not have to prove himself a worthy leader, after all, at least not in the long term. Although, given what limited data was provided about Optimus’ condition there was still the possibility that Prime could die from whatever wounds he may be suffering from depending on the severity. That and his apparent physiological issues might impede him from reassuming his role as Autobot Supreme Commander. Regardless of the situation, the rex-former would be keeping a close optic on what transpired for the foreseeable future.

Saying nothing more, Grimlock then took his leave of the lounge with a new mission for him and his Dinobots to sink their teeth into.

Corridors

Prowl's first destination was the primary medical bay where Optimus Prime would surely be taken for analysis and repairs. As he traversed the corridors, the black and white remembered he had another task to accomplish and opened a secured comm line to the engineer and scientist whose help he required:

>>"Perceptor, Wheeljack, this is Prowl. I'm transmitting important data to the both of you which I collected while down in Uluru. As you will see, the information in question was derived from scans that I did of Sixshot, himself. Magnus has given the go-ahead to begin analysis of the sixchanger with the ultimate goal of creating our own STAG. Consider this to be a top priority. Prowl out."<<
____________

Once off the bridge entirely, the Dinobot Commander went in a different direction than the military strategist, not having any intention of checking on the rediscovered Prime. Grim wasn’t the sentimental type. Optimus was a decent and worthy leader and that had garnered the rex-former’s respect. If Prime ultimately died than the situation the Autobots were in would not really change that much from what they had been dealing with while Optimus was missing in action. It would still be a great loss that left a void behind that still needed to be filled with someone Grimlock could follow or fill himself.

Be that as it may, Grimlock and his Dinobots had a new assignment now, one that would finally see them back in the heat of battle and smashing Decepticon head plates in while other, weaker Autobots did some of the more technical stuff required. As Grim made his way through the hallways of the medical frigate heading back towards the docking ring, he opened a comm line to those that would soon join his Dinobots to comprise the overall strike team:

>>”Scoop, Blaster, Getaway, this Grimlock. You three reassigned to my unit under Ultra Magnus’ orders. We have new mission. Meet me on bridge of Battleship Trion where we have quick mission briefing before going to surface of Sol-3. Be there in two breems. No longer. Grimlock Out.”<<

Cutting his comm line, the Dinobot Commander rounded another corner and quickly approached the docking ring. The rex-former then entered the tunnel that lead across to his newly-acquired ship, the Trion.

Weapon: Automatic Acid-Pellet Gun
Corridors Enroute to Medical Bay

Scoop readjusted his weight as the gravitational differential that existed between the planet below and that of the Guardian. Glad to be out of the confined enclosure of the secondary bounce chamber, an emergency precaution for the protection of Optimus Prime as well as the security of the prisoner known as Megatron, the infantryman afforded himself a brief stretch. As his internal gyroscopes made the final compensation calculations, he leaned up against the far wall as two emergency units raced in to offer assistance to Ratchet and his precious ward.

As the medics raced down the hall towards the main medical facilities of the Frigate, Jazz began to slowly emerge from the bounce chamber... the limp gun metal gray form of Megatron being dragged half upon the deck. "It does look as though our newest guest has put on a few hundred kilos since the last time he was encountered. May as well drop him where ya found him." He stifled a smirk as Megatron's form dropped to the deck with a residing thud.

Securing his weapons towards the magnetic locks on his back before allowing two massive armor plates to swing up and envelop them. "Let me see if I can lighten your load a little bit Jazz." Scoop knelt down and began the rapid transformation process into his earth mover form. A quick rev of the pseudo diesel engine drowned out the protests of either Jazz or Blaster.

He lowered his shovel and proceeded to scoop up the unconscious body of the scrap maker as if it were only so much scrap metal. Twisting his forward axle, Scoop pulled out into the hall and readjusted the angle of his shovel so that the weight of the Decepticon leader did not damage it. The construction bot revved his engine once more and this time set his course to follow after Ratchet and the others.

Medical Bay: Security Isolation Ward

Scoop rolled through the massive doors to the primary medical bay. His shovel elevated to obscure the contents within, though the strain clearly causing the forward appendage to shake and shudder. With deft movement and masterful piloting abilities, Scoop managed to maneuver around several examination slabs where warriors and fellow Autobots injured during the battle of the Fallen rested. To his left Hardhead rested in a fitful forced stasis as medics attended to the worst of the damage inflicted upon him during his time as a tool of the enemy. Energon drips as well as various other liquid chemicals were mixed into a IV chamber and slowly pumped into his systems, securing the spark chamber while the warrior recovered. Quietly Scoop offered a prayer to Primus at his friend's speedy recovery.

Returning his focus to moving the precious cargo he held concealed in his shovel, well loosely concealed, Scoop opened a small hatch on the forward portion of his cab. A small three pronged device emerged from the hatch and ignited a red bulb on the central stem. Immediately a set of security codes were transmitted to the furthest most isolated ward and recovery slab. He waited for Jazz to catch up before he up ended the shovel and its contents onto the floor with a loud crash. Scoop immediately returned to robot form as he dusted his hands above the heap that was Megatron.

Kneeling down, Scoop placed a hand onto the forehead of Megatron and offered a quote of scripture regarding the great compassion of Primus and the grand forgiveness that the creator represented. He then reached underneath the immobile and damaged figure, and with a grunt of effort, rolled Megatron up the slab's side and onto the examination table. The soldier then offered a quick examination to the stasis claw that was embedded at the base of the neck and nodded. "Well that was truly a test of Primus's teachings. I doubt that Optimus would take too kindly to us placing a laser bolt into Megatron's spark chamber." He looked up as Jazz made his presence known, either by securing the facility or adding guards or whatever it was the commander was intent on accomplishing.

Meanwhile his communications line activated. The communique was short and terse just like its author. An order to mobilize immediately on board the Trion. Scoop offered a brief look of acknowledgement to Blaster and gave a nod. "Sorry Jazz, it appears we'll have to leave mister tall dark and murderous to your tender mercies. Duty calls." He walked towards the hall and activated a partial blast shield that would obscure the bulk of the isolated ward. "Just remember the words of Primus... Show the tender mercies to ignite the coldest spark chamber."

"So what did-*huff* Magnus say about Mega-Con here?"

“Oh, ya know. What you’d expect. Secure him, guard him. Well, that mighta been concerning this big guy here…” Blaster nodded, indicating the red and blue Autobot commander whom he was carrying. “Doesn’t sound like a bad idea for the Mega-Con either. Oh. And Magnus wants ole Megsy sedated. Shocker.”

Blaster turned to Ratchet as the pair hastily made their way through the corridors. “Magnus said to expect him shortly. I’m sure you’ll get other visitors too once word gets around,” the chief warned the CMO. Shortly, Scoop rolled past in his alternate mode, hefting the body of the slagmaker toward the medical bay. Blaster grimaced inwardly. Maybe not such a good idea to just go rolling around the corridors with that kinda cargo.

Medical Bay

But all’s well that ended well he supposed as the convoy arrived at the medical with little trouble. There were some recuperating Autobots within as was to be expected and medics tended to them. The medics were fairly busy, so they didn’t immediately notice when Ratchet and Blaster entered with their cargo. They would likely do so shortly if they hung around any longer.

Unfortunately, Blaster got the call to arms from Grimlock of all people. Didn’t give him much time to hang about and see if Prime was going to be okay. Slaggit. Biting down the disappointment, Blaster helped Ratchet carry Prime into a private prepared room, heaving the heavy Autobot supreme commander onto the examination slab with a grunt.

“Got him from here, Ratchet? I gotta go.” Blue optics flicked toward Jazz as Blaster ducked out of the private room. “Good luck handling all this, Jazz, my mech!” With a wave, Blaster jogged out of the medical bay behind Scoop. “Alrighty. Let’s get movin’, Scoop. Grimmy doesn’t like to wait around.”

Swerve felt weird. He was being used by Grimlock, Prowl, and Ultra Magnus. He really…really wanted no part of it. Like none at all. Zero. Nada. Yet here he was…an awkward thing being used in a blame game that went waaaaaaaaaay over his head. Swerve kept his head low and fiddles with his actuators, spiraling his thumbs around one another.

He got pretty absorbed into doing that. That was until Magnus finally sounded like he was going to dismiss them. The minibot glanced up as he listened…that…Optimus…was…what? Confusion dominated Swerve’s faceplate. ‘Belonged’?! Past tense?! What. Had he been gone?! WHAT?! Swerve opened his mouth to voice some of his concerns, but Magnus kept talking, which prompted him to shut it until he heard all the facts. Only they didn’t clear things up much either.

Swerve sat dumbfounded as Magnus dismissed Prowl and Grimlock. Wait an astrosecond. He still hadn’t been dismissed! What gives?! Swerve wanted out of this meeting like now. Like five breems ago. He glanced hastily to the side as Grimlock left.

”Don’t leave me here….” he squeaked out. Then Magnus started talking to him. One on one. Oh boy. Swerve put on his winning smile.

“Oh, don’t worry about it, Magnus. Hahahaha! Ah…Uh so. The Trion? Well, before Grimlock stole it, it was pretty much all but done. Just some finishing touches needed. Ideas for modifications, huh? Well, I’m not really a weapons engineer, but if you insist….maybe some like big cannons! To punch through the toughest warship armor! Or maybe a tractor beam…or a huuuuuuuge laser cannon!”

“Maybe something like Killmaster’s moon gun! You know that guy? He’s…uh…the big one. With the wand! Member of the Decepticons’ Warriors Elite? Ugh…scary mechs in there…gives me the heebie jeebies,” Swerve shivered, rubbing his arms. “OH! Right. Cas Collar? Well…it was…I was…It was good. Everything pretty normal. I was assigned to the Trion…Then I decided to take a nap on my recharge slab….then I woke up and…there was an explosion. Grimlock said something about a Decepticon saboteur? But you know ole Grimmy, heh. Not one to let those guys get away with anything.”

“So I reckon…the Trion might be a bit dinged up? I’d have to…you know. Check,” Swerve finished, finally crumbling a bit under Ultra Magnus’s stare. He locked his hands together nervously. “That’s all, uh, I really know. W-What was…uh…that thing about Optimus? He, uh…was missing?”

Medical Bay

From the bounce chamber, into the adjoin corridors and out toward their final destination Ratchet kept his medical scanners focused solely on Optimus, ensuring that the Prime’s status did not fall below Ratchet’s optimal standard.

The closer they group got the more anxious the CMO became. Optimus was in bad shape…he may not have looked it but his injuries were worrisome and potentially dangerous.

Ratchet hefted his load a bit further trying to keep Prime’s body as high possible so as not to hinder their movements down the halls.

He was vaguely aware of Blaster speaking to Jazz about what was to be done with Megatron. I can tell you what to do with him. He thought as he grunted lowly.

“Magnus said to expect him shortly. I’m sure you’ll get other visitors too once word gets around,” the chief warned the CMO.

Ratchet looked over at the communications officer with a wry smirk. “Of course he’ll come. Why wouldn’t he?” The smile fell flat as he and Blaster moved through the doors and past all of the med bay’s busy staff. A quick look around and he noticed First Aid was gone but Axle was still present and looked as though the former surgeon had just acquired Hot Rod as a patient. He’d need to look into that at some point in time but for now…

Medical bay - Private Room

With the help of Blaster they were able to place Prime down onto the medical berth and while Ratchet began to run lines from the series of standing monitors into several posts over Optimus’ body, Blaster got his attention.

“Got him from here, Ratchet? I gotta go.”

“Yeah, Blaster. I’ve got it. You can go.” He never raised his optics just continued with his work. After several minutes Ratchet looked up and realized, at least for now, he was alone. Carefully the CMO placed his hand on Prime’s forehead. “I’ve got you, old friend. I’ll concentrate on keeping you alive. You just concentrate on getting well.”

Ratchet let his hand slide down to Prime’s shoulder where it lingered for a moment before he went back to work.

“The Ratchet I know would have dented his forehead instead of just patting it.” A voice said from a corner of the room. Ratchet quickly whipped around, his gun in hand, his body between Prime and this new threat. His optics flickered with surprise when the mech stepped into view, his hands raised up.

“Pharma? What in the hell are you doing here?” Ratchet was stunned to say the least.

Pharma lowered his hands and gestured to the remaining leads in Ratchet’s hand. The CMO nodded handing him several. “Ratchet, it is a long story.” He began to tell his friend just how he happened to arrive on the Guardian.

Rewind glanced up to Chromedome as the mnemosurgeon placed a hand on his shoulder plate. The tiny archivist tweaked his camera with a hand. Even though it was mainly verbal discussions, video footage could be equally as important. As Domey stepped forward to study the projection of Devastator, Rewind felt intense pride welling up in his chest. His dear friend was in his element. It was something Rewind was more than happy to see.

Flicking through and studying the reports while absorbing what Chromedome said, Skids rubbed his chin with a digit, keeping the datapad propped up one leg. Thanks to his abilities as an outlier, he was able to absorb vast quantities of information fairly quickly. Unfortunately, he hadn’t had much prep time, otherwise he’d have at least read through the field reports by now.

Something about melding multiple consciousness as a unified whole struck a chord with him. He just…couldn’t quite put his finger on it.

“Well, that seems in line from what I know of the Monstructor Six and Jhiaxus’s research regarding them,” Rewind piped up.

Skids frowned, tilting his head to one side as he held his chin between two fingers. It seemed like the Constructicons had recreated Jhiaxus’s work. “It would help if we had access to Jhiaxus’s research notes…but I guess that would be too easy.” Skids looked up to Chromedome. “Do you know a way to meld minds together so that they can…un-meld and be who they were before?”

Skids glanced over to Jetfire. “That’ll be the hardest part. Physical configurations will probably be in order…custom designed alternate modes for…the limbs. Which shouldn’t be too bad. I remember a mech who turned into a foot. It’s not unheard of. Mental compatibility will probably be the real problem.”

Glancing back down at the datapad, Skids began leafing through the information thus far. “At least, I think so based on what I’ve read so far. It’ll probably be more complicated than that, but it’s a good starting point at least.”

“I’ve got you, old friend. I’ll concentrate on…”

Vision swam before Optimus’s optics, attempting to focus in on the voice of his old friend. The dull roar in the audio receivers began to clear and the familiar form of Ratchet’s face hovered over him. Wearing…his usual mixed expression of irritation and concern. He flicked his optics around to ascertain his surroundings. It…looked like…but…

“How many times is it now, Orion?”

Orion Pax looked up at with some confusion.

“Where am I?”

The irritation immediately melted from Ratchet’s face as he leaned over and hastily glanced at some of his instruments.

“You’re at my clinic in Rodion. The others brought you here after you got injured breaking up a fight. Remember?”

Orion sat up, rubbing his head. Swinging his legs over one side of the examination slab, he got to his feet, stretching his diodes with a satisfying pop. Ratchet stood back watching carefully, his hands coated in energon. Pax smiled at Ratchet.

“Well done, old friend! I feel good as new.”

“Don’t give me that, Orion! You be more careful out there,” Ratchet said testily, wagging his finger at the Police Chief. Orion merely chuckled and patted the medic on the shoulder reassuringly. Ratchet scowled.

“I will,” Orion promised.

Ratchet shook his head and turned to his workbench, snatching a cleaning cloth off of it to wipe his hands clean. “You say that, but you’ll be back in here in a cycle.” The medic sighed as he turned back around to face Pax. “You were a lot less trouble when you were an archivist.”

“Heh,” Orion chuckled simply, bring a hand up to his faceplate. He paused for a moment feeling something was amiss. “Wait…where’s my lucky mouthplate, ?”

“Pft, that old thing? You’ll probably need to get a new one, but…” Ratchet reached to the workbench behind him, handling Pax the dented piece of metal, “Here.”

Orion took the mouthplate, looking at it for a moment before tucking it away. He waved to Ratchet as he turned to go. “It was nice to see you aga-“

“By the way, Orion,” Ratchet interjected, “Have you seen Roller lately? I haven’t heard from him.”

“Roller? He’s doing…” Orion paused, frowning. Something…something felt wrong. “He’s…” Pax swayed unsteadily on his feet, stumbling back against the wall. The world seemed to swim before his optics.

“Up to his old tricks? Figures. I suppose he’ll get in touch after he tears his optics off of whatever show he’s obsessing over,” Ratchet said dismissively. With his friend’s words, the world righted itself, the sense of dizziness ebbing like a fleeting memory. The police chief pushed himself off the wall, glancing down at his hands uncertainly.

Shaking his head, Pax smiled and walked to the door. “Well then, I’ll see you soon, Ratchet.”

“Not too soon, I hope,” Ratchet grumbled softly.

“…nice to see you again, old friend…” Optimus muttered softly as his optics flicked dimly blue into gray and back again from where he lay on the examination slab.
