Kup's offer wasn't exactly a comforting one to Streetwise, but what comfort can be found here anyway with Megatron lose again?

Streetwise backed from the monitor and turned to address the security officer's "volunteering", "Sir, I recommend taking me with you. Gonna be a mess down there, and I'd rather keep your schedule to only one close to death experience at the most," He said humorously.

Streetwise then turned to Rewind and said, "You're all about records and stuff, why not you take a spot at the camera feeds to be our eye in the sky? Or, at least from the cieling, heh. Though, like I said, I was only able to access the cameras leading up to the last couple near the bounce chamber. Mind firing up those techy digits to see what you can do?"

"And Chromedome, what exactly do you do want to do specifically? I'm pretty sure you are more inclined to stay here, but..."

"Sir, I recommend taking me with you. Gonna be a mess down there, and I'd rather keep your schedule to only one close to death experience at the most."

"Hah!" Kup barked a laugh. "Suit yourself lad, but I'm slackin' if I only have one. Time was, we'd face a close call four or five times a cycle. I remember this one time on Rigel 6, Killmaster had a bunch of us pinned down and I just knew he'd called in backup to finish us off. Anyway, Brawn says to me, he says..."

And with that, Kup was gone down the corridors, en route to the bounce chamber.

After the Aerialbots left the Bridge for whatever reason, Groundbomber decided to take a stroll. She aimlessly wondered the halls for what seemed like an eternity, at least until everything went to red alert.

>>”Everyone! Attention! Megatron broke free from his containment on the Ark-22! His current whereabouts are unknown! Take extreme caution!”<<

Every system on Groundbomber went to combat mode. She immediately checked the power cells in her rifle, sword, and arm cannon. Satisfied, she powered up her cannon and held her rifle in her hands. It felt good, holding a weapon, prepared for combat.

Groundbomber allowed her internal systems to cool. After all, if she ran into Megatron, it'd do her no good to unexpectedly shut down due to overheating.

After prowling for a bit, the crimson and grey flier rounded a corner, only to see a grey Cybertronian, just a head shorter than she, mere feet from her. Instinct made her raise her rifle, until her logic circuits pointed out the Autobot emblem on the other Transformer. Groundbomber eased her weapon down.

Her memory banks identified the 'bot as Kup. She allowed herself to relax, of just a little, to mutter, "My apologies, sir."

Kup rounded a corner just in time to see a crimson and grey mech leveling a weapon at him. He had done the same thing instinctively, before recognizing the mech's Autobot insignia.

"My apologies, sir."

"Don't worry about it, kid. We're all jumpy," Kup said as he lowered his weapon and continued walking. The bounce chamber wasn't far from their position.

"Don't suppose you happened to see a big, silver, genocidal maniac come this way, did ya?"

Kup exited the room, and Streetwise followed. Before leaving though, he said to Chromedome and Rewind, "Alright, you two stay here. Gotta catch up with Kup before he goes too far ahead. Would be a shame to miss his stories, heh. I have faith in you two."

At that Streetwise rounded the corner in time to see Kup and another Autobot spook eachother. Thankfully, no harm was done. After a bit of the two shaking it off, the detective said,

"Yeah, an odd case indeed. Especially since I never knew of Megatron's presence here until now. The plot only gets thicker by the astrosecond."

Streetwise then turned and looked at where he came from to get a feeling of reassurance that he was not being trailed, and then looked back to say to Kup, "Oh yes, I wish to attend this mini mission as well. I wish to speak with surviving witnesses."

[OOC: Responses to my last post for Streetwise can be made still by the other parties such as Chromedome, Rewind, and Skids if he's still in. To keep the time rolling properly I decided to jump in with Kup's progress down the hall however before Sid runs him off and I don't get a chance to join. Thanks Kup. ;P]

Groundbomber found the question rhetorical, but humored the old bot and answered it anyhow, sounding more forced than she intended, "No sir, I have not. I'll let you know if I do, though."

She gave Kup a small smile and was about to fall in step with him until another Autobot joined them.

Groundbomber eyed the newcomer with momentary suspicion. She did a quick search of her memory banks, identifying the white-colored 'bot as one of the Protectobots. The police one.

Feeling no introduction was needed, the large crimson Autobot turned to follow Kup, assuming that he'd want backup. She figured their most likely destination to be the closest bounce chamber.

Feeling a bit the third wheel with it just being him, Chromedome and Rewind left in the secure hold, Skids turned to the two and gave them a nod. “I’m off with them. You two should stay here and bunker down in case bucket head strolls back this way. I doubt he will since he’s probably looking to get out, but just in case. Comm us if anything comes up.”

With that, Skids was away, hurrying to catch up with the rest of the group. He was surprised to see a new face joining their ranks. He didn’t immediately recognize her, but she wasn’t silver, megalomaniacal, or genocidal. So she was pretty okay in his books at the moment.

“I imagine Magnus decided keeping info that Megs was alive and here under tight wraps. Wouldn’t want that getting out to the Decepticons. And it probably helps avoid panic and rash decisions.” Skids shrugged. “Everyone knows now anyhow.”

He didn’t bother to announce that he was tagging along. That much was obvious. As if he’d let just Kup and Streetwise face down Megatron. Not that he’d be much help but Skids liked to think that it might help even the odds if only just a little.

"Oh yes, I wish to attend this mini mission as well. I wish to speak with surviving witnesses."

"The more the merrier, lad," Kup said. "I'm not hearing any reports of casualties. This might actually be one of the few 'clean breaks' I've seen in the history of keepin' 'Cons prisoner. Won't know for sure until we get 'all clears' from everywhere else."

"No sir, I have not. I'll let you know if I do, though," Groundbomber answered in reply to his earlier, half-serious question.

"Good enough, heh. I'm pretty sure this is where he went," Kup said, indicating the doors to the bounce chamber. "So, if he's anywhere at all, he's gonna be in here."

“I imagine Magnus decided keeping info that Megs was alive and here under tight wraps. Wouldn’t want that getting out to the Decepticons. And it probably helps avoid panic and rash decisions. Everyone knows now anyhow.”

"Yeh. I woulda told everyone in the first place, let a bot do with that information what they want. But...wasn't my call."

Kup then turned his attention to the door. He figured if Megatron really did go this way, he would have used the bounce chamber and be out of here by now. But on the off chance he didn't...things were about to get messy.

"Weapons up," Kup said, as he raised his neutron assault rifle and entered the access code to the room. With one tense moment the door slid open and....

...nothing.

The room was dimly-lit and the machinery inside was all humming quietly, seemingly untouched by the path of Megatron's escape. Kup stepped further into the room, more than willing to be the first one to take a shot if he'd somehow overlooked something. Once he got a better look, he called back to the others.

"Clear!" he barked. "Alright, now let's see where this fragger went..."

Once the transmission had come through that frag-slaggin' Megatron was on board--on board and escaped!--Air Raid was having the hardest time paying attention to anything else. He wanted to be out of here. Now. Taking on Megatron in a ship full of Autobots? C'mon now. You couldn't beat that.

"I'm afraid we're going to have to skip some of the formalities here and get right to business. Gentlemechs, how would you like to be inducted as a staple in Cybertronian history?"

Hmm. That caught his attention.

"Does being the best shot this side of Luna-1 not already count?" Slingshot butted in. Air Raid found this completely funny and gave his fellow Aerialbot a subtle high-five as he covered his vocalizer to try and keep from chuckling too noticeably.

"Truth!" Air Raid added, before Ironfist quickly shot down their attempt at humor.

Air Raid then listened as Ironfist went on to explain what exactly he meant. It basically added up to the fact that the Aerialbots could maybe...probably?...become one of those things like the Constructislags. Uh...hell yes!

"Oh c'mon!" Air Raid said, shaking Slingshot by the shoulder joints. "Are you kidding me?! This'll be awesome! We're already the best fliers in the uni and now we can become one of those things? Sign me up!"

Skydive still had troubles processing what he was hearing. I guess they are going with an earth adage about putting fire out with fire. As the best aerial unit in the sector they could fly around this Devestator but their weapons wouldn't do much against it.

"I doubt this is really up for a vote since I've got a feeling this is probably from Ultra Magnus indirectly but sure I guess we could try it. The biggest thing I wonder is what will this combined form be able to do. What sort of weapons will we have? None of us are the best brawlers out there since we usually rely on our speed and range. Best strategy against Devestator or any future combiner including what we will be is to take out one of the central pieces. In this case Scrapper or Hook and for us I'm guessing Silverbolt. I'm also betting on taking out the leg pieces since it seems Devestator doesn't have the robot mode flight capability of its fellow Decepticons."

After a few moments, Skydive remembered they and the Protectobots were summoned for this little project. The main reason the Protectobots were being left out for the time being was Hot Spot was on some sort of mission.

"So what about the Protectobots? Will they be part of this process once Hot Spot gets updated on things?"

Groundbomber eyed the newcomer -Skids was the name her data files gave her, for just a moment when he appeared before following Kup once more. Her thoughts idly drifted toward Skydive, Fireflight, and the rest of the Aerialbots. She wondered what the group was up to. Probably something to do with combining. They aren't friends, were they?

Groundbomber shook her head. No. She didn't have friends. Friends had to rely on her. She wasn't reliable. It wasn't an insecurity; it was a fact.

"Weapons up."

Kup stopped ahead of her. Groundbomber mentally chastised herself for getting distracted, then put the thought on the task before her as she rerouted Energon to power up her arm cannon and raised her rifle as Kup went in. She stopped herself from suggesting that she, the bot there that could probably take the most beating, enter first. Kup was in charge.

"Clear!" he barked. "Alright, now let's see where this fragger went..."

Groundbomber stepped in behind the older bot and activated her visor. The device moved over her optics and she switched it to scanning mode. The semi-transparent blue became a more solid green as she took a sweep of the room.

Wheeljack took a small step back as Railway rose up from the med berth and quickly took notice of the alarms going off all around him. “So what's up with that?”

“Oh, that…” the mad scientist began to say, pausing for a moment in order to choose his words carefully. “Well, try not to panic, but it seems that when we found Prime we also found Megatron. The higher ups decided to keep the slagmaker prisoner here on board the Ark. Now, here’s the bad part, it seems ol’ Megs has escaped his restraints and is loose somewhere on the ship. Thankfully, I didn’t run into him when I came down here from Perceptor’s lab to get you, but then again I was racing through the halls like a shrike-bat out of hell. Heh.”

The mechanical engineer shrugged as he patted his bulky comrade on the shoulder. “But, no worries. I’m sure Megatron just wants to get off the Ark-22 and back to his Decepticon cronies as quickly as possible. Just as long as we stay out of his way, we should be fine. Perceptor told me to meet him down in the hangar bay once I woke you. However, if you're not comfortable doing that we can just wait here until the all clear is given.”

With the others giving him the necessary cover, Kup strode deeper into the bounce chamber, giving random areas one more good look around before approaching the bounce pad itself so that he could confirm his suspicions.

More 'messing with technology'. His favorite. But, he'd checked more than a handful of bounce logs in his day, so at least this was within his wheelhouse. Or at least nearby.

Bringing up the most recent bounce log, along with the internal recording devices in the room, he watched as Megatron entered, accessed the controls and then was gone in the customary flash of white that accompanied an orbital bounce. That was good. At least he was off the ship. Kup then examined the logs more closely so that he could find where the Slagmaker had bounced to.

What he was finding didn't make any sense. Looking over the coordinates, Kup could see that Megatron hadn't bounced himself to one of the other Autobot ships. He'd just bounced himself to some random point in space. What the frag was that all about?

"Hey guys," he said, motioning to others that had come with him. "Maybe I need my optics checked or somethin', but it looks like Megatron just picked a random point in space and bounced outta here. Is that right?"

Strange, Kup did know that there wasn't anything known in that aree of space seen in the coordinates. Hm.

"Huh, well it seems that way... But I'm not one for giving up at just that. He either had a reason, or he was dazed, and because of his ability to operate terminals so perfectly the way he did, I know it's not the latter."

Streetwise got closer to the screen and looked closer. He studied it as he contemplated, keeping an open audio receptor in case the others piped in with anything interesting.

"If he did bounce out to a Decepticon ship or something of the sort, he would need foresight of where it would be at a specific time. Either that or he was not as secure as we thought. And that thought concerns me."

The cop bot stepped back and then lifted his hand from his chin in seemingly sarcastic fashion, "or, he was an utter idiot and thought bouncing out of a ship into deep space was a good idea. But I would like to think that a mech such as Megatron who we've been fighting for so many millions of years has a little more to his evil-drenched mind than that."

Groundbomber looked over Kup's, then Streetwise's shoulders. She strapped her weapons to her sides and switched to another terminal, ordering her brain module to begin calculating strategies and possible motives for Megatron's choice of escape. The large crimson Autobot stood silent while the the old bot and the cop conversed.

"Do we know for a certainty that there isn't a single ship out there?" she finally said, "Maybe a small one that we're not picking up? Perhaps the 'Cons have developed some way of masking their vessels from our view?"

An idea occurred to her, spurred on by the more impulsive aspect of her personality. "Is it possible to send someone out there, even for just a moment, to see for sure?"

"Huh, well it seems that way... But I'm not one for giving up at just that. He either had a reason, or he was dazed, and because of his ability to operate terminals so perfectly the way he did, I know it's not the latter."

Kup nodded and was inclined to agree with Streetwise's assessment thus far. Megatron was acting odd, but he was still clearly acting with intent and purpose. He didn't seem like a mech in a daze. But he wasn't the Slagmaker that Kup was familiar with, either.

"If he did bounce out to a Decepticon ship or something of the sort, he would need foresight of where it would be at a specific time. Either that or he was not as secure as we thought. And that thought concerns me."

"Whoa, hey, I dunno what you're implyin', but that silver glitch was as secure as any 'Con I ever laid hands on. Magnus made sure we pulled out every security trick in the book. But when he escaped, this dark matter lookin' stuff comes pourin' out of him and disables just about everything in the room, includin' me and Rewind there for a bit. I dunno what more we coulda done."

"Do we know for a certainty that there isn't a single ship out there? Maybe a small one that we're not picking up? Perhaps the 'Cons have developed some way of masking their vessels from our view? Is it possible to send someone out there, even for just a moment, to see for sure?" Groundbomber added, interjecting some new concerns into the mix. In all the security briefings that Kup had been involved in, he hadn't yet sat in on one that discussed the possibility or likelihood of Decepticon cloaking technology. Not on a shipwide level.

"Do we know 'for certain'? Nah. I think it's pretty improbable though. Prowl woulda heard somethin' if the 'Cons cooked up something that major. Hell if I know for sure, though, kid. Those Decepticreeps are cookin' up something new every orn," Kup said, rubbing his chin thoughtfully as he retrieved a fresh cygar and flipped its activation burner. "And sure its possible. Someone activates their gravi-locks, they can trudge all over the outside of the ship if they wanna. But trust me, kid, if there was a 'Con ship out there, I'm reasonably sure we'd know about it."

As Kup began to get defensive, which didn't seem normal for him, Streetwise attempted to bring peace to the situation with further clarifying of his points.

"I was not doubting your security procedures under normal "capture of Megatron" circumstances, sir. I was concerning myself with the thought that he knew things despite the heavy security. Or even, had some help with his escape. Externally, or internally. Obviously however, what happened could not be explained by normal causes, so who knows right now what really went on. Truly, even the smallest clues are now our friends."

Streetwise paused and thought for a second, and then added to what he had said,

"And when I said 'internally', I meant that in a more literal sense."

Groundbomber then asked Kup the question about the possibility of there being something out there. And Kup answered as best as he could, but not comfortingly satisfactory. Streetwise decided to leave that point of question for a bit however to study the pieces of the story not yet observed.

"You said something sir about some sort of substance? Do you know anything about this "dark matter", or has any of the substance been discovered before the event that you are aware of?"

Weapon: Railgun
CR Chambers

Alpha Bravo stepped out of the CR Chamber, with a new, polished body. He figured he'd be spending more time on Sol-3 now, so he might as well get an alternate mode to blend in.

He walked out to the sound of alarms and the message that went along with it. >>”Everyone! Attention! Megatron broke free from his containment on the Ark-22! His current whereabouts are unknown! Take extreme caution!”<<

He'd heard that name before. Oh, he knew well enough what that name meant. He racked his memory tracks and readjusted his optics, and a sudden feeling of coldness overcame him. The Decepticon leader, on the loose, on this very ship that he was standing on. Well, looks like it's time to see how well this new body does for me. He held up his arms, closely inspecting the missiles that were specially designed for himself. I'd need a bit more than this if I don't want the scraps beaten out of me.

He grabbed his rifle and his gatling cannon that he had set aside while going inside the CR chamber, swung the cannon over his back, and he made his way out of the CR Chamber area.

Corridors

Rifle in hand, he contemplated where on the ship would be the best place to go. Surely the first priority would be to look for other 'bots, sticking together with others would be nice for a change. He started moving down the corridors. He guessed that it would be easier to start looking from there on out. Having been in stasis lock for so long, he had trouble remembering where places were on the ship. Nonetheless, he moved towards the Bounce Chamber, from where his microphones picked up some sound signals. He slowly turned the corner, at full alert with his gun in hand. He spotted a group, all seemingly Autobots, and lowered his rifle.

Groundbomber decided to remove herself from the console. She was a tactician, not a theorist, and didn't have all the pieces necessary to form a viable plan. She could most certainly activate the pad and jump herself to the location, but her logic circuits got the better of her. Kup, Streetwise, or Skids would shut her down before she even go onto the platform.

Yet another Autobot joined them. Groundbomber didn't recognize him, but that wasn't impossible. It was a big army, and she didn't know everyone. However, the increasing number, coupled with her larger size made her feel a bit cramped, so she made her way to the door and positioned herself beside the newcomer and watched the group carefully, gathering information.

Alpha noticed the larger 'bot headed in his direction and nodded at her as a form of acknowledgement. Looking at the others, he ran his memory tracks and recognised Kup and Streetwise, but failed to remember the identities of the others that were there. He figured that now would not necessarily be the best time for introductions so he'd just learn of who they are on the fly.

Retracting his faceplate, he began to speak to Kup. "Everything normal here?" He scanned the room through his optics behind his visor, with a seemingly odd feeling as if something strange had been done around here.

Truly, even the smallest clues are now our friends. And when I said 'internally', I meant that in a more literal sense."

Kup nodded, even though he didn't understand the full implications of what Streetwise meant. Literally internal? Yeah, he supposed so. Somethin' was going glitchy with Megatron's brain module and that black dark matter lookin' stuff had originated from within him, so Streetwise's suspicions made sense up to a point.

"You said something sir about some sort of substance? Do you know anything about this "dark matter", or has any of the substance been discovered before the event that you are aware of?" Streetwise asked further.

"Nah. I ain't never seen nothin' like what he did in that room. That was as 'paranormal' as 'para' can get. This might be the only time I in my life I wished I was a scientist. Then I might know a little more of what's goin' on."

"Everything normal here?" another Autobot said. Alpha Bravo. One of their few flyers outside of the Aerialbots. Still pretty green, in Kup's view.

"'Normal'? Heh. Where you been, kid? In a CR chamber? We just had Megatron bust outta here. So nah, nothin' normal. But we're alive, so that's somethin', at least."

Streetwise couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the question the helicopter 'Bot asked. It was obvious that he had not been awake long. But it wasn't his fault.

"Yes, truly, you may think this is a dream or something of the sort because of the completely ridiculous-sounding possibility of a situation such as this, but it's not. This is really happening. And it's pretty crazy."

The cop 'Bot recognized the copter as one called "Alpha Bravo". An interesting personality indeed. Further conversation with him would need to wait however until more information has been found about this important situation at hand.

Streetwise switched his gears and went back to responding to Kup's answer to his question,

"I am not a scientist either, Kup. But, I can tell you that I am positive this is not a substance just found anywhere. Either it is something rare and hardly studied, or something new altogether. But that is my piece. Again, I am not a scientist."

Streetwise then stood from the monitor he was leaning against, and stroked his chin,

"Perhaps we should go back and bring a chemist with us to examine the fluid carefully, avoiding any sort of direct contact with important machinery. A laboratory report should give us some much needed clues about the source. After that however..."

He thought for a second, and after some consideration he said,

"...We could possibly check the audio records, if they are still obtainable."

Groundbomber
shook her head at Streetwise's ideas of Megatron getting help from inside the ship. Doubtful, really. Inside help wouldn't have been so...messy. However, as the cop bit verified, from inside his body made quite a bit more sense.

"I heard a rumor once. Something along the lines of Megs utilising a black hole of some kind as a power source. I'm not much of a scientist, but could it be possible that may have been the case here?"

She shrugged dismissively, then pulled a cylindrical bomb casing from her hip. Groundbomber made sure that the explosive it was protecting was secure before offering the casing to Kup. "Is this satisfactory to contain the fluid, at least until we can get it to a laboratory?"

"Normal'? Heh. Where you been, kid? In a CR chamber? We just had Megatron bust outta here. So nah, nothin' normal. But we're alive, so that's somethin', at least." Kup's response gave a sense of relief to Alpha. So the Megatron alarm was true. At least no one was hurt, so far. He gave Kup a reply, "Yes sir, I have been in a CR chamber, but I did hear the news on the alarm. I just wanted to make sure that everyone here was fine."

He noticed Streetwise chuckle. Had he asked a redundant question? Maybe, but Alpha really didn't have any idea what was going on, aside from the fact that Megatron had escaped. Escaped what? Was he being held a prisoner? The alarm did mention something about a containment, but he had no time for question right now. He had to get to the bottom of this.

Streetwise spoke up, "Yes, truly, you may think this is a dream or something of the sort because of the completely ridiculous-sounding possibility of a situation such as this, but it's not. This is really happening. And it's pretty crazy." Alpha nodded back at him, and gave him a little smile of his own as a response. "I suppose so, it's a little hard to take in, not being adjusted to this whole deal, but I'll manage, I suppose."

He listened closely to the rest of the group's conversation. A strange substance from Megatron? Didn't sound that far-fetched, the Decepticons were always strange anyhow. But for some reason, no one could figure out what it was. Hopefully, it wasn't something corrosive.

Streetwise followed it up with something else. "...We could possibly check the audio records, if they are still obtainable." Yes, the audio records! That would be an easy way of figuring things out. "I definitely agree! We should check the audio records. Those could hold some sort of clue that might point us the right direction." Alpha Bravo stood up straight, with a newfound determination to help in his optics.

"Yeah, 'Cons have come up with some crazy slag over the years, but I ain't never seen nuthin' like with ol' chromebucket did back there."

"Perhaps we should go back and bring a chemist with us to examine the fluid carefully, avoiding any sort of direct contact with important machinery. A laboratory report should give us some much needed clues about the source. After that however......We could possibly check the audio records, if they are still obtainable."

"Yeh. Probably the best place t'start. Go ahead and send the all clear to everyone else on board. No need to have them thinkin' Megatron is gonna burst through the door at any moment when he ain't here."

"I heard a rumor once. Something along the lines of Megs utilising a black hole of some kind as a power source. I'm not much of a scientist, but could it be possible that may have been the case here? Is this satisfactory to contain the fluid, at least until we can get it to a laboratory?"

"Yeah....I heard the rumor too. Goes back a long ways. Dunno how much merit it has but....anything's possible I s'pose," Kup said, addressing Groundbomber's suggestion while rubbing his chin structure. "Nah...that container ain't gonna cut it. I don't think there's gonna be anything 'liquid' left behind. It wasn't liquid. It moved like liquid...kinda....but it was something else."

Just then Kup's optics flickered.

"We can grab some samples of the metal plating that weirdo energy touched. Perceptor or Wheeljack or somebody oughta be able to run some tests on it.

As he started to leave the bounce chamber, Kup was able to focus more on what Alpha Bravo had to say.

"Yes sir, I have been in a CR chamber, but I did hear the news on the alarm. I just wanted to make sure that everyone here was fine," Alpha Bravo had said. So....he actually was in a CR chamber. Well, that explained a lot.

"I suppose so, it's a little hard to take in, not being adjusted to this whole deal, but I'll manage, I suppose."

Kup grinned and slapped Alpha Bravo on the shoulder joint.

"You'll be smashing 'Cons again in no time."

"I definitely agree! We should check the audio records. Those could hold some sort of clue that might point us the right direction."

"Yeah," Kup nodded. "Like Steetwise said, let's see what Megatron left behind in the secure med bay and scour any and every record that might give us a clue as to what the frag is happenin' here."
