See, I would like to link vids with the pics that I post, but then I'd just feel like a bad rip-off, that and my pictures aren't as good as yours! Nicely done!

For me it's just aesthetically driven, If you feel that you've taken a picture, and there's music that fits the mood, then go ahead. It's not about quality or ripping off anything; it's about mood, hell i don't think i'm ever 100% on point

Re: Awesome Pictures and Poses Thread (Post Customs in Customizations Forum)
How do people feel about the Tamashii Effect stuff? It always looks cool, but Transformers don't have the articulation of the figures they're meant to go with, and are generally bigger than those figures. I figure if anyone has experience with them, it'd be the people posting in this thread.
Normally I wouldn't consider spending much money on that sort of thing (since I have no job) but I've sort of made a deal with my wife that if I'm going to start selling off parts of my collection, the only thing I'm going to spend the money on is adding things to my collection. So far it's been enough to cover a MP SG Optimus, a Salmoore, and a preorder for the PotP Deluxe Wave 2. Now I'm debating whether to save the rest of the money I make this spring to get a MP-36 Megatron; its kind of hard to imagine I can make another $170.01 off of sales this spring, but I might. Even if I can afford MP Megatron, should I splurge for him, or spend the money on a lot of smaller things like Heroclix or the Tamashii Effects? {Or actually start building a suit of Mandalorian armor, which I'm seriously considering.}

Personally, I feel like Heroclix are a money pit no way out.
One of my close friends used to build Star Wars armor suits and the scale of cost you're talking about is in the thousands, not really the hundreds, so ymmv.
As for the parts...I like them but I like to do a lot of lightbox photography. You can be really creative with the parts, it just takes a bit of planning because as you said, they're not keyed specifically for Transformers.

That's for sure. I keep thinking about quitting, but it's the only hobby my wife and I have that gets us out of the apartment to socialize with other human beings in a physical space.

Supposedly you can scrap together an outfit good enough to pass muster with the Mando Mercs for $200. I'm highly skeptical of that, just because a buy'ce (helmet) alone costs well over $100, but from the pricing I've done, I'm almost certain I could do it under $500. It would probably cost a lot more if I were wanting to build something screen accurate, like a Darth Vader or Boba Fett costume, but I'd just be making a generic Mandalorian, with no jet pack and only the light OT armor. There's a guy in MM that sells the armor I need made from recycled metal for under $100, and most of the soft goods can be gotten at thrift shops and military surplus if you're patient and willing to make a few alterations.
And that would be something else to get me out of the apartment interacting with people, which is both something I want to do, and something I really don't want to do, if that makes sense.
As for the parts...I like them but I like to do a lot of lightbox photography.
That sort of leads into one of my big questions I guess - do they look as good on a shelf as they do in the lighting of well done photos? They seem really vibrant and sharp in photos, but I wonder if they'd just look like plastic on a shelf display.
You can be really creative with the parts, it just takes a bit of planning because as you said, they're not keyed specifically for Transformers.
[AWESOME PICS]
You actually made Nautica look like a boat!
Honestly, I partly asked just because I wanted to see pics like that.
I feel like one of these mornings I'm going to find a Lightning Effect purchased on my Paypal, and Generations Skrapnel sitting next to me unattended computer.

I like Swoop. He's a neat toy. I wish his dinosaur face would stay attached to his robot face, but that's easily overlooked by how awesome he is!

I think my favorite part about PoTP Slag/Slug, is his Dino Riders mode.

Also, if Hasbro is allowed to change a single letter in his name to make Slag into Slug, then I'm allowed to change his name too!

Just some Manterror love, since he's legally old enough to drink in the US now. I have to remember that 1997 was over 20 years ago and not "over 10 years ago". STOP GETTING OLD, ME!
