Oh yeah - Kick ass, Menacing, and Tyrannical is everything I'm looking for in Magmatron. Man, its gonna be a stiff battle between him and Megatron for Predacon leader.

I can't get into Beast Machines because the characters just look ridiculous to me. It doesn't look like it has the same magic as Beast Wars.

Magmatron is definitely worthy purchase. So is Big Convoy if you can get him.

I love Magmatron, I'm so glad I have him, in fact...the only Beast Wars figure in my collection. (So that should tell you something.)

There's a robot mode, a Super Beast mode, and then the individual Dinosaurs.

The transformation is nothing like you'd expect, it's quite intricate and considering how he's constructed...he holds together solidly. His weapons system is neat, it serves as a gun and a sword, and yes...it fires. :D

The wings on the "Skysaur" (as it's called) actually flap when you pull the tail.

The neck on the "Seasaur" (yes, it's called that...) is fully posable and ball jointed. (A tad long though. I yanked some of the links out of the neck on mine so it wasn't so long...)

The "Landsaur" (no, I've no idea who came up with these names, but it's sad...) is probably the least functional of the three on it's own, it pretty much just stands there, but it looks cool.

Definitely worth a purchase, if you can find one and it's cheap enough, get 'im.

This is the kind of review I've been looking for my friend. Great review!

lol @ the names of the dinos. Generic much?

Yeah, this review has tipped the scale heavily into me buying Magmatron. Hell, I'm even more excited now to find him and buy him.

I'm going to pick him up off BBTS when they come back into stock. My purchase with ToyWiz isn't going so well so far. I asked for Rush delivery and it's hasn't even been shipped in four days! What kind of rush is that?!

I've ordered from them before. They sent me the wrong item, but then sent the right one. They wanted me to send them back the wrong item, but I just kept it :) lol.

Are they that bad?

Damn I hope karma doesn't bite me in the ass this time. If I don't hear anything from them Monday night I'm going to bitch at them until they give me my money back.

Next time - BBTS it is.

Oh yes. They're bad.

PayPal usually sides with them because they cover all their bases but the ones they need to keep the customers happy.

Their prices are outrageous.

They're rude.

Once BBTS has them back in stock he will be mine. Right now I'm waiting on Primal to come in the mail from ToyWiz (man am I ever regretting ordering through them). Tomorrow my gf is graciously going to buy him Takara Rhinox off of BBTS (the clearance price is too good for me to pass up).

Dude, I hope that sale works out for you. What is Magnaboss made up of? Man, what a great price too.

Looked him up on eBay and Amazon and I'm very close to buying him, but I want to run it through you guys first. Is he worth the $30-$40 I'm going to shell out for him?

He looks like a fun, simple dino combiner and has a very tyranical look to him. I've just started a BW collection and he will look nice opposite Primal and Megatron.

What do you all think of it?

SB
Which Magmatron are we talking about here? The Beast Wars Neo bad guy or the Beast Machines good guy?

BW Neo Bad Guy numero uno. 8)

is there a maximal version of him? my BM knowledge is pretty iffy, y'know.

Beast Machines Dinobot actually. And it is the same character as the Beast Wars Neo character. According to the story, Magmatron returned to Cybertron and saw what Megatron had done to the planet, which caused him to switch sides.

Although there is little to no differences between the Beast Wars Neo figure and the Beast Machines figure, aside from the packaging, in general the Beast Wars Neo figure is worth more to collectors than the Beast Machines figure.

You meant Beast Machines Magmatron, right? There was no Dinobot for Beast Machines (the closest in name being Hardhead repaint Dinotron).

He wasn't a Maximal either. He kept the Predacon/Destron crystal and was only a 'good guy' in the sense that he wasn't a Vehicon.

No, I meant Dinobot! There was within Beast Machines a subgroup called Dinobots. The first group were created from DNA strands of the Maximal Dinobot from Beast Wars. They didn't side with the Maximals, did fight with them against Megatron and his Vehicons, according to the profiles of the toys. In the second wave there were more dinosaur maximals that joined the Dinobot sub-group and Magmatron was one of them.

man oh man, you sure are a lucky guy to have an understanding GF dude. hehe.

i wonder though, if the takara rhinox is the 10th reissue or just the same japanese release 10 years ago? because the 10th reissue is the most show accurate rhinox of all the releases, complete with gold trimming on his face. but you're right, it is a steal, go get 'im, TM-09 Rhinox at the hobby shops in our country sells for also about $20 sans shipping, so it's a great deal.

magnaboss is the maximal combiner made up of ironhide (elephant), prowl (lion), and eagle (forgot his name). it's one of the coolest combiners ever, on par with magmatron, and he's a maximal to boot. 8) check out this gallery:

hmm, very enlightening, thanks Ray, as i have said earlier, my BM knowledge is very limited to "ooh, what out-of-scale figures!" to "man, they didn't look like this in the show at all!".

She didn't used to be this understanding. She just found a new hobby of collecting collectible disney pins. Eh, whatever, it makes her more understanding to my hobby now. lol :) :)

Yeah I believe the Takara Rhinox is a 10th Anniversary re-issue. And I am very happy to pay $15.00 for him. I'm almost tempted to pick-up a Classics Optimus as well just because I'm not so much in love with my new 20th Anni Prime (thats another story for another post).

Dude that Magnaboss is freakin' sweet lookin, but isn't Prowl supposed to be an owl? Is Beast Wars getting mixed up in itself? I don't want to get sidetracked in my collecting quite yet, so he'll have to wait.

And yeah, I refuse to be associated with that piece of crap called Beast Machines. I will not buy a fig nor watch any episode. It just looks like an atrocity to the good name of Beast Wars.

This whole Rattrap ordeal has made me very motivated to somehow find a MOC one that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. You watch me people, I'll find one.

haha, that's cool, at least she understands how a COLLECTOR feels right now.

as for prowl, yeah, he is an owl, and i guess they named the lion prowl also as he is in a different series, Beast Wars Neo. sometimes TF naming convention can be sooo confusing...

good luck on your quest to find a MOC rattrap dude. don't forget, i get second dibs if AND ever IF, you find more than one. seriously. no, i am, honestly! haha. 8)

Seriously bro, us collectors have to look out for eachother. Because the scalpers and retail workers sure as hell don't. Its us vs. them.

I'm going to need all the hope and prayer to get a Rattrap tho, lol.

Oh well, mind as well put him on the backburner until I get the rest of what I'm looking for. The TM version will do for now.

BTW how bad ass was Rattrap when he took out Megatron in Aftermath? Megatron rushed him and Rattrap just took him by tripping him with his tail. Pure intelligence is my man Rattrap.

tru.dat bro. colelctors vs. scalpers, duly noted. will post here also if i ever find MOC rattraps here in our country.

hey, maybe you can scout flea markets and mom & pop stores there, who knows, you just might get lucky and find a MOC rattrap. i've sometimes found gems in the most obscure of places here.

and hey, EASY on the SPOILERS dude haha. haven't watched season 2 yet, taking my sweet time enjoying season 1. i'm already on episode 16, "The Trigger pt. 1". can't have a BW marathon because of work and stuff. 8)

Oooooh. I thought you meant the character's name, I forgot about the sub-group, and all about the package stating "heroic Maximal" on it despite how they left the Predacron crystal in him.

Sorry about the spoilers zemp, but if it makes you feel better you'll probably forget what I said by the time you get to that episode

Season 2 is really great so far and I'm only about 5 episodes in. I really wish I could get Season 1 sometime soon because that is by far my favorite season. There are a lot of loose ends and great episodes I'm sure I missed.

Rattrap and Dinobot make the greatest attack pair I've ever seen.
