I like the prime figure. I'm a huge fan of the classics prime mold.
I find it amusing that some people are writing off this set before seeing any other figures. Bugbite wasn't the greatest looking figure, but the rest of that set was outstanding. give it a chance.

I'm calling it right now that Goldbug and Megatron are going to be outstanding figures.

I like him, I can't have him but I like him - he's great.
The battle damage actually looks good for once, the scraped paint on the windvein is nice.
This is what BotCon exclusives should be, new characters or obscure ones, not central ones like the f#%king Seekers!
Yes, I'm still sore over that

I guess it's time to chime in my one large grievance. Now I don't mind the paint job. I don't mind the concept. I don't mind the battle damage.
The one thing that irks me is that they kept the insignias. Let me explain. I can dig evil Autobot characters, we've had Nemesis Prime before, but he bore the mark of the traditional Decepticon faction.
If these figures were set up with Optimus Prime leading the Decepticons, rather than evil Autobots, I'd be 100% down with that. At least that way, if I didn't like the fiction to go with it, I could consider them to be new characters for my Classics Collection (like Bugbyte).
But currently, that's kind of impossible.

Any guess if they are going to use the unreleased WW Grimlock mold for an evil Grimlock?

A very nice break from the traditional black and red. However personaly, I'm not a fan of purple.
I realy like the weathering effects though, the cracks on the window are a bit to prominant.
Overall, not bad though, again, it is nice to see a different take on a old concept.

Yes, Jazz will, in fact, be Cyb. Crosswise.
So when its all said and done, Cyb. Crosswise will have been used at least 4 times: Crosswise, Cyb. Smokescreen, Movie Jolt, and this Evil Jazz. I never picked up Crosswise, though I did get Cyb. Smokescreen, but now I wish I had. Crosswise, as a Decepticon, would look good with Jolt, and, possibly, evil Jazz.

There's never been a completely new figure for a convention, the most is usually a remold of part of a figure.
I suppose you're right, but still I would love to see a new figure over a repaint in any case. The way they did the classics seekers last year was a step in the right direction, though I would have rather them not been exclusives.

I don't think they could justify the cost, even on a figure that was desigend like some of the ones shown at BotCon last year.

Reserving judgment for now as there are quite a few more pics to come that will complete the overall effect of the set.
Interesting color choices. Glad to see it isn't another Black Prime. Looks more like Primewarp.

Prime stole Skywarp's colour scheme. Of all the nerve... I'll sue!
Wonder if like Classics Skywarp, Prime too will become hot pink under natural light.
I can safely say at least, I won't need to be getting any evil Autobots and can save my money this time.

Primewarp? that's what i called "Hybrid Prime"
nice color in purple & black, but give him a proper trailer, & it will sell like hotcakes.

Man I freaking love this. It's so radically different from what I was expecting. And I'm not just saying this because I'll be able to get the set this year.

That's what I like about it. I expected glossy black with teal highlights and a red energon sword.
This being different from my expectations gives me hope that the other 5-8 toys are going to be clever repaints not just standard fare.

I am incredibly underwhelmed by the concept of this set so far, even moreso after seeing this pic of Prime. I'm bummed about that because I was very excited about the Botcon 2005, 2006 and 2007 sets. It seems like so much thought was put into the previous sets and we gained additional highly desired characters and/or back story via the previous sets. Other than the addition of Jazz and Goldbug, I can't foresee anything that great coming out of the Evil Autobot and Heroic Decepticon concept ... though I'm sure people such as Raksha are thrilled at the idea.

It's an alternate universe. The Autobots are bad guys and the Decepticons are good guys. Hence why they still have their respective symbols.

You could consider them evil(or good in the case of the Decepticons) clones that use a miscolored symbols instead of the regular faction symbols. Kind of like how RiD Scourge(the original Evil Optimus Prime clone) used an upside-down G2 Autobot symbol as his personal marker. Kind of like a side-faction. I don't imagine the real Megatron would let a group of Autobots, evil or not, wear the Decepticon logo.

If this set fails to overwhelm and impress me as an alternate universe, then they will fall into rank with Bugbite and become my new Classics Go-Bots.
