In todays Botcon Transformers Animated discussion panel, the news that the cartoon series would be coming to an end after season 3 concluded was confirmed.

The panel discussed the creation and joys of working on the series and featured cartoon shorts and special bios for the characters of the series. Some spoilers of the seasons ending were revealed but you'll have to watch the final episodes to find those out Seibertronians.

It is a shame but I will be interested to see what follows. I hope it does grow up a bit.

I enjoyed Animated for what it was and the healthy number of nods to fave g1 characters was appreciated.

I hope what follows has a better style, isnt a mix of cartoon and CGI and has some people who love the characters behind it.

I'm sad

That series had all it take to go on for a lot of time.
It was the best series since Beast Wars. Sure they were a little childish some times and I wasn't too keen at the all TOON look they had but I always saw them has a good show for the new generation of transformers fans

I bet somebody out there is saying "Always Predictable". I mean we saw this coming. It happened to G1 it could happen to any American made Transformers series. :sad:

(Either that or recession really hit them hard)

It's sad but for a show to last as long as it did is alot nowdays. I haven't watch them all yet but did it have a definate end or was it left open for future stuff?

i get the feeling now they know there is a big enough fanbase from kids to adults they can make a calculated risk on something more grown up......at the end of the day Animated was to get kids hooked on tf's. Now they are well maybe they can evolve the basic idea of animated....ie good storylines but combine it with decent animation.....as much as i love animated i hate the look of the dam thing lol

Sounds like there will be a conclusion, as First Gen said "Some spoilers of the seasons ending were revealed but you'll have to watch the final episodes to find those out Seibertronians."

What I'd like to know is what's going to happen with the toy line? It will obviously end as well, but how? Will things mentioned here still happen?

it will be a shame to see animated finish

but i think the next cartoon will go down the lines of "clone wars" and give us a bigger longer story arc between movies 2 and 3. :grin:

That really sucks! At first, I couldn't get past the animation style or the continuity issues. Optimus, a low level mining bot? Starscream getting killed like Kenny every episode. WTF??)
But, the show was developing and had potential.

Mostly, I'm pissed that I won't have a chance to buy Rodimus! It was a disappointment not seeing him in the season as promised.

Seems to me Animated has a huge fan base. I guess that doesn't really matter much to Hasbro. I'll take the cartoony look of Animated over the backward, chicken legged, stocky, long armed, indestinguishable faced, bland color schemes that 90 percent of the movie line has any day. Way to go guys! :evil:

he was in episode 1 of season 3 dude...albeit only briefly

an yeah as much as i love the movie the bots/cons look awful on a general basis

There are enough open ends to spawn a good few fanfics and mosiacs, IMHO.

Wouldn't it be just a hell of a lot like Transformers : Energon only with an Armada style Prime and Jetfire combo, and the movie style aesthetic.

Actually that doesn't sound that bad.

Still wish we had a fourth season of animated though.

yes well, i had to watch it on youtube on account of the fact those jackasses at nicktoons or hasbro or whoever deal with the broadcast haven't even aired season 3 yet! how in the hell do they expect UK fans to watch it on tv... WHEN IT WAS NEVER ON???

Yup, as someone wrote earlier in this thread, predictable.
The show was too well done for its own good, and when a tv show in the U.S. gives off the hint of quality, it must therefore die.
Thats ok, we'll get to still see season after season without end of idiocy like Pokemon, though. Garbage sells.
I had an unlikely but nice fantasy that Cartoon Network would pick up the tab for another season like they did with Big O a few years back. I mean, why not? Most of what they show on Adult Swim is the equivalent of someone spitting a hocker on an animation cell, then video taping it running down the cell to the accompaniment of inane, non-sensical dialogue. That or a bunch of live action mental cases jumping around after raiding the clothing department at a San Fransisco Salvation Army. Isn't it about time CN did something worthwhile again?
And what's more, I coulda lived with this a lot better if we had gotten the sheer volume of toys that say, Cybertron or Energon had gotten prior to cancellation so we coulda at least said that it was a good run while it lasted. But instead we're left with a tiny collection of TFA figures and big pile of what coulda been. :-x
