Clench and Pyro/Spark are technically from G1 that ended up being carried over to G2 the following year. Both were also European exclusives which mean little to a large percentage of U.S. fans (who BotCon is primarily attended by). "Streetstar" is from the tail end of Japan's G1 series and was never in G2 packaging. Sky-Byte came about 5 (Car Robots) to 6 (RID) years after the end of G2. Gnaw shouldn't even be part of this year's exclusives. Hopefully the other convention exclusives will fit in more with this theme.
Well, basically, Streetstar IS Streetwise, I have put that out there, so he is an homage to the G2 toy, just like Breakdown. Spark and Clench, like many other G1 toys, were released as part of G2 so I definitely consider them G2. And Sk-Byte again is our wildcard.
As far as the rest of the offerings, they all fit the overall theme we are setting up...
Thanks for the info, Pete. I stand corrected on Streetstar. I was thinking he was an homage to the Streetwise repaint with Guard City, but after looking at a pic of him I was way off. And a tad embarrassed that I had it mixed up.
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/ ... twise/852/EDIT: AFter doing a little research, I see why I had it mixed up. Streetstar is the Japanese name of the Streetwise repaint in Guard City. Now it makes sense. I'm not crazy after all!I still stand by my thoughts on Clench and Pyro/Spark. But as I mentioned above, this is G2 "REDUX" so I'm hoping the BotCon comic will explain everything I need to know. It's amazing what a little fiction can do to change your mind about something. I also want to reiterate that I personally love Clench and love the colors on Pyro (still would've preferred a new head on him, especially over Sky-Byte).
I've still got hope that you guys have plans for G2 colored Classics toys. I gotta give you credit though for not going the easy route. Maybe Hasbro will release G2 Classics under Generations.
Sky-Byte will require reading the comic and seeing what you guys have planned for him to like him as part of the set. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune at the end of June.
