As a result, both mediums get homaged with Strika representing the show and Obsidian the toy.
Rated X mentioned the GDO Powerdive toy as a possible reason for Hasbro making them go with Obby's toy colors since his show colors would be similar.
But honestly, would you think Strika would have been as well received as she was if she had her less-than-awesome toy colors? Those show colors on Strika are gorgeous and I'd take her even without Obsidian.
At least the double entendre was noticed.Mkall wrote:I was going to make a pun about you taking Strika while Obsidian's back is turned, but I really can't think of a good one which is kind of a rarity actually.

While Animated Strika has them too, BM Strika had them first and that's who this toy is meant to evoke.Hasbro requested the toy colors for Obsidian, but Fun Pub seemed to want to do show colors for both and were only permitted them for one.Mkall wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Not Fun Pub's fault. It was requested of them to make Obsidian in toy colors.Mkall wrote:So Obsiduan is toy accurate in colour but Strika isn't. There's a fail there.
It is their fault. They're producing the darned thing. So why not make Strika in toy colours?

Man, I'd kill to see that toy colored show-accurately.* It always bugged me as a kid how pale she looked compared to her awesome cartoon deco.Seibertron wrote:I agree about Strika's colors. I keep forgetting she looked so different in BM ... been a long time since I've watched it. I've had the toy out more recently ....

You probably stopped reading or listening to the news after you heard it would be a Machine Wars set from your excitement. Because, if you had been keeping up, they specifically told us that they were giving us new characters other than the existing Machine Wars toys. Why this bit of easily comprehensible detail is such a surprise to people now is beyond me.

Obsidian and Strika are loyal only to Cybertron itself. They ally with whoever's in power, whoever that is.
I like his vehicle mode, but I still have no idea why a propeller driven aircraft fits in with the Machine Wars aesthetic.

Really? Never knew that.Plus, this was his body before he became a helicopter.
Technically speaking, the V-22 Osprey isn't a helicopter. It is, however, designed with the functionality of both a helicopter and a plane. So it's kinda a neener-neener.
(And what I love about the Osprey aircraft is that only United States Marines and a tee-wee bit of the Air Force uses them. As an aspiring Marine, this amuses me)
