BotCon 2013 Souvenir 2-Pack Sandstorm and Electron

Weapon:
Double-Barreled, Armor-Piercing Particle Beam Cann...
We've known for sometime that Sandstorm was one of the BotCon 2013 exclusives. We now get to find out who he is paired with. The BotCon facebook page shows us Sandstorm and his 2-pack partner Electron who is a repaint of Generations Sergeant Kup with Machine Wars Hoist's head. They are seen in this picture along side Machine Wars Thundercraker and Mirage.

So, what does this mean for a Machine Wars Hubcap? Or is TFCC trying to merge the MW Hubcap with the G2 Electro to differentiate the MW Hubcap from the G1 Hubcap?

Since he shares a mold with Hoist like Machine Wars Hubcap, but features the deco of G2 Electro, I guess the powers that be have decided to fuse both characters together. This helps with avoiding confusion with G1 Hubcap (since I guess Machine Wars is the same continuity as G1, and Machine Wars Hubcap is a creepy corpse-salvager, but G1 Hubcap is a completely different character who was a retooling of G1 Cliffjumper).
Also, I guess Hasbro can't use "Electro" anymore? Probably Marvel's fault.

Maybe that's why Machine Wars Hubcap (possibly now also G2 Electron) salvages body parts from fallen Transformers? Gotta replace all the rotten golden pieces of his chasis!

Well, maybe there is still hope for a proper MW Hubcap repaint down the line? I guess they could use a brighter yellow for the truck body, black plastic for the arms and legs, and hazard stripes for detailing. I'm really hoping that over the next few years, we'll eventually get the entire Machine Wars cast remade through TFCC. We're already more than half way there!
