As far as I know, the JPEG extension doesn't support transparent backgrounds. Try saving them as GIFs.

That's the formate HMW uses, GIF.

Actually... I'm not sure. I was experimenting with inner shadow, which made it look like chickenpox, but then I started messing with the color overlay and it's transparency.
