and congratulations on your 4000+ posts . But I do agree with the notion that some improvements could be applied to the gestahlt molds(Bruticus Maximus in particular 'cause Superion is a done deal..........a very well done deal.)
Again, I am not sure how the Bruticus helmet fits (is it like a mask like the G1 version?) but it has to go, the Cylon design really looks dorky. A groin guard, and maybe additional arm canons like that of Superion. And the appendages too, maybe this time honest to goodness hands and feet and an updated Bruticus G1 style rifle too.
As for the energon lance like thingie, my Superlink Skyblast had one of those.
yeah i am kinda in depth on trying to convince someone my point of view.. but that is the nature of being a fan.. enjoyment in the subject to the highest degree..LOL
thanks for the congrats on the 4000+ posts, I really didn't even notice I passed the milestone.. LOL.. the Bruticus Helmet would be like a snap tight thing, it would be two halves and snap together over the existing head..one piece would fit over the face, the other over the back. I agree the cylon look is too funky..the mock up was just to illustrate the point that if done by a 3rd party, they would have to be creative because of the way his arms are structured.. as it stands Bruticus Maximus doesn't have elbows or even a shoulder to speak of, which is kinda crappy..
to others points on this.. why make an add on for an energon combiner?? well, it is the base foundation that is solid in these combiners.. not the energon figure itself.. take for example the superion, had there been a better candidate for upgrades they would have done one for the g-1 combiner figures.. but the energon figure had a great basis to work with..I think Bruticus Maximus has a great bas to work with.. now figuring out how the combiner parts would add to the figures in vehicle and individual robot mode is a trick.. but I'm no toy designer.. that is why I just did a quick digibash, was to just show that some minor things could make him look better..
Gauntlet101010 wrote:I dunno, that digibash is very much a quick edit job. It looks nice enough at first glance, but the arms don't convince me ... too obviously just Superion's arms grafted on Bruticus. The feet as well; not saying feet couldn't work, but it wouldn't work like that. The toys just don't physically work that way. You even have the Aerialbot's legs in there.
actually I just added an aerialbot canister to the pegs on the side of the helicopter body..and you are right it is a quick mash up.. but I don't have the parts to use because they don't exist.. I used what I had at my disposal just to get the idea accross.. not saying they should use Superion appendages for the job, if the upgrade were to become a reality..
Gauntlet101010 wrote:Also, these peices would have to work with the individual robots. Having a bunch of combiner parts just lying around is very G1, but .... it's not something particularily strong about G1. Especially your "hugging around" idea; I don't see how that'd combine in any other mode.
I don't either, that would be left up to the engineers.. it was just an idea.. as to how it could work in individual robot modes or Altmodes.. I don't know.. I didn't think it through that far.. I was just trying to show that any changes added to the figure would greatly improve his look.. and his look is by far crappy as is.. in my humble opinion..
Gauntlet101010 wrote:Not saying Bruticus attachments can't be done, but ... I'd need to see a sculpt (or at least a detailed sketch) before climbing on board the idea.
Imagination.. counterpunch says we all need it..
Gauntlet101010 wrote: And, even then, I'm on the fence. The price for these add-ons is quite steep. I always have to extensively debate it with myself before I buy any of them. And I don't always find it worth it (Powered Commander upgrade set being on that list).
In all due respect Powered commander is way more expensive.. as for my Superion Upgrade set I paid 35.00/43.00 shipped.. that's not so bad to take a mediocre figure I would not normally buy and add a strikingly awesome one to my classics/Henkei collection.. I've paid more for worse figures..
Bottom line in my view.. this toy needs some changes.. and if waiting for a new better Bruticus Maximus were my other option I would choose the upgrades..because with How Hasbro and Takara are about getting combiners right, is like taking a gun putting it to your head and hoping the roulette game is not going to be over in two clicks..
It's never a safe bet.
