Excellent, thank you very much!

It looks nice enough at first glance, but the arms don't convince me ... too obviously just Superion's arms grafted on Bruticus. The feet as well; not saying feet couldn't work, but it wouldn't work like that. The toys just don't physically work that way. You even have the Aerialbot's legs in there.

Also, these peices would have to work with the individual robots. Having a bunch of combiner parts just lying around is very G1, but .... it's not something particularily strong about G1. Especially your "hugging around" idea; I don't see how that'd combine in any other mode.

Not saying Bruticus attachments can't be done, but ... I'd ned to see a sculpt (or at least a detailed sketch) before climbing on board the idea. And, even then, I'm on the fence. The price for these add-ons is quite steep. I always have to extencively debate it with myself before I buy any of them. And I don't always find it worth it (Powered Commander upgrade set being on that list).

I definitely agree. Until I get a hold of Bruticus M., I can only guess at how an upgrade set could work with the combined form. It would be very nice if an add on set could work like Superion's and be parts that could be used in separate alt and robot modes. Parts could transform into artillery packs and such.

At this time, I plan on getting the RotF Bruticus M. set, whenever it arrives in local stores, but I've got some ideas for minor customizing. I'd like to paint over the transparent weapon/appendage parts, which I don't mind unlike Superion's transparent parts. I'm also going to see if I can find my own weapons for it. I have a TFA Leader Megatron whose rotor swords may work okay with Bruticus M.

They are actually the Alpha and Omega Spears given out at, I think, OTFCC 2004. You had to complete a multi page survey from Hasbro.

fenrir72 wrote:Hey skywarp-2 , you treat tfs subjects like a thesis defense hehehe( no offense) and congratulations on your 4000+ posts . But I do agree with the notion that some improvements could be applied to the gestahlt molds(Bruticus Maximus in particular 'cause Superion is a done deal..........a very well done deal.)

Again, I am not sure how the Bruticus helmet fits (is it like a mask like the G1 version?) but it has to go, the Cylon design really looks dorky. A groin guard, and maybe additional arm canons like that of Superion. And the appendages too, maybe this time honest to goodness hands and feet and an updated Bruticus G1 style rifle too.

As for the energon lance like thingie, my Superlink Skyblast had one of those.

yeah i am kinda in depth on trying to convince someone my point of view.. but that is the nature of being a fan.. enjoyment in the subject to the highest degree..LOL

thanks for the congrats on the 4000+ posts, I really didn't even notice I passed the milestone.. LOL.. the Bruticus Helmet would be like a snap tight thing, it would be two halves and snap together over the existing head..one piece would fit over the face, the other over the back. I agree the cylon look is too funky..the mock up was just to illustrate the point that if done by a 3rd party, they would have to be creative because of the way his arms are structured.. as it stands Bruticus Maximus doesn't have elbows or even a shoulder to speak of, which is kinda crappy..

to others points on this.. why make an add on for an energon combiner?? well, it is the base foundation that is solid in these combiners.. not the energon figure itself.. take for example the superion, had there been a better candidate for upgrades they would have done one for the g-1 combiner figures.. but the energon figure had a great basis to work with..I think Bruticus Maximus has a great bas to work with.. now figuring out how the combiner parts would add to the figures in vehicle and individual robot mode is a trick.. but I'm no toy designer.. that is why I just did a quick digibash, was to just show that some minor things could make him look better..

Gauntlet101010 wrote:I dunno, that digibash is very much a quick edit job. actually I just added an aerialbot canister to the pegs on the side of the helicopter body..and you are right it is a quick mash up.. but I don't have the parts to use because they don't exist.. I used what I had at my disposal just to get the idea accross.. not saying they should use Superion appendages for the job, if the upgrade were to become a reality..

Gauntlet101010 wrote:Also, these peices would have to work with the individual robots. Having a bunch of combiner parts just lying around is very G1, but .... it's not something particularily strong about G1. Especially your "hugging around" idea; I don't see how that'd combine in any other mode.

I don't either, that would be left up to the engineers.. it was just an idea.. as to how it could work in individual robot modes or Altmodes.. I don't know.. I didn't think it through that far.. I was just trying to show that any changes added to the figure would greatly improve his look.. and his look is by far crappy as is.. in my humble opinion..

Gauntlet101010 wrote:Not saying Bruticus attachments can't be done, but ... I'd need to see a sculpt (or at least a detailed sketch) before climbing on board the idea.

Imagination.. counterpunch says we all need it.. :D

In all due respect Powered commander is way more expensive.. as for my Superion Upgrade set I paid 35.00/43.00 shipped.. that's not so bad to take a mediocre figure I would not normally buy and add a strikingly awesome one to my classics/Henkei collection.. I've paid more for worse figures..

Bottom line in my view.. this toy needs some changes.. and if waiting for a new better Bruticus Maximus were my other option I would choose the upgrades..because with How Hasbro and Takara are about getting combiners right, is like taking a gun putting it to your head and hoping the roulette game is not going to be over in two clicks..

It's never a safe bet.

The Superion set is pretty expencive for what it is as well. It's definately for the hardcore collector. Let's not fool ourselves .... the price for the set is over the price of the toy itself and that's a red flag. If people aren't debating with themselves over whether it's worth it .... that's just being careless in my book.

The feet and chest of your digibash are fine ... the head I can't see being done. But the arms are just too much for me to believe. I suppose it's "possible" that they might be able to make the arms work like you have them (higher and with, maybe, a totally seperate lower arm peice), but I dunno. I am not convinced it's be worth doing. It's have to be more than just seperate addons for me to be convinced.

Bruticus looks fine to me as he is. It's not very G1, but ... not everything has to be. It is what it is.

You're welcome!

They're pretty awesome looking. The Alpha spear (blue) looks fantastic on the original Concept Bumblebee as the color is *identical* to his hidden blade.

Like everyone else I'm not a big fan of the hands and feet. But I'm a really big fan of combiners so I will definitely shell out the money for Bruticus. Once I get him I'm going to have to save for the Encore Re-issue of Bruticus who looks f*ing awesome!

Of course it does. Color side, there's no difference between Energon and RotF Superion.

I stopped at one of the self service price scanners with keypad, keyed in the DPCI (087-06-0146), discovered they were in stock in the back room, and asked a lovely young lady with a PDT (the scanner/gun thingy) for help. She checked on the gun, asked me to wait, and came back with a perfectly case fresh Bruticus.

It is a gorgeous set. I love Barricade/Onslaught's coloration, and I love the orange energon weapons, especially on the tanks.

Sorry, my friend. These guys are staying MISB. Especially considering the pristine condition of the box. If I can get a second set on clearance I may open them up. I've started keeping exclusives like this MISB after opening RoboVision prime and keeping the regular release in package. It just wasn't as satisfying.

The Target by me refuses to do that. I got alot of scalpers by me though. Found that out when Walmart, TRU and Target told me they had alot of people asking for figs.

The Walmart near my house is like scalper heaven, I remeber an instance that happened way back during Star Wars Episode 1. Me and my friends were right at Walmart when it opens (not a 24 hours one) trying to get some new figs for our Star Wars collection, and there's already people with cartful of new Star Wars figs at the checkout line... :-?

No problem! I'm just happy to hear that it sounds like that RotF Bruticus seems to be available.

Not necessarily scalpers. I had a friend who did that (the cartful of figures thing) and he's just a SW freak. Buys all the figures. Doesn't open them. He literally needs another building to keep all the stuff he buys in.

Hey guys! went to target with my wife last night only to pick up a birthday card for my dad and got the card and then as i was walking past one of the end caps in the toy section, i happen to look over to find at least 7 or more Bruticus Maximus just setting there!! I was so exstatic and surprise to see him this early. And here is what makes it even better, a few weeks ago my wife gave a $20 gift card to me from target and only paid $10 plus tax for him!!! Didnt get him before and got to say a really cool looking combiner!! glad i got him....

Happy Hunting....

I'm glad this set is starting to pop up more frequently. I was starting to think he might not be released at all. He's the only E-combiner I don't have a version of.

I found my Bruticus unexpectedly at my local target! Initially going there to by a birthday card for my dad and strolled by the toy isle on the way out and saw they had 6 to 9 Bruticus sets on the end cap!! so i grabbed one and then called a friend to come and get his... Actually surprise that target had them out so early, and didnt expect them to show up until the end of September... Anyway, didnt have the previous version and this combiner set is very cool in every way!!

Happy Hunting...
