Ravenous Nightwind wrote:So many people are into the whole well your only one sex, but I don't think that's entirely true. The natives believed that transsexuals had two souls though, I always thought that was interesting. I think people are way to much into what should be considered as male or female when they should just let people be who they are instead of judging them for what they aren't. Uniqueness should be allowed. x3 After all..we're supposed to be sentient beings. XD

Sorry if it's gauche to comment on something said so long ago, but I have to play devil's advocate for a moment:

It's important that we maintain some sort of standard for differentiating on the basis of biological sex. It's simply a matter of necessity and practicality in the world of scientific research - for some research, especially medical research, if we have people identifying as their psychological sex rather than their biological sex, we may wind up with increased error variance, especially with small research populations. Ergo, we need to retain some absolutist terminology. That said, in my field we're more interested in a person's self-identification than in their plumbing (unless we're working on a hypothesis based on the theory of evolution), but I can certainly see how pharmaceutical and genetic researchers might get frustrated.

Obviously, one could argue that lay-society still needs that distinction so that individuals know 'who' they are getting romantically involved with. I agree that we'd be better off without the religious constraints or social norms that would demand this, but if your long term goal is to have kids, well, that's probably part of the reason humans are so sexually dimorphic. But then, there are surrogate mothers, and who knows where sex-reassignment surgery will be in a few decades, so really, it's just the scientific community's reasons that I would defend.

Also in reference to the first page:

1. There are communities where a higher male than female population works, but I would agree that 20:1 is probably pushing the limits of practicality, and Transformers probably have worse than a 20:1 ratio (would be interesting to know what the actual ratio is, perhaps broken down by continuity).

2. I'm straight, but I still think G1 Jazz is hot (for someone made out of metal). I mean, he's a spec ops soldier, culture-specialist, and all around fun guy that turns into a Porsche. The guy was practically designed to appeal to masculine individuals.

Who in their right mind would mistake YOU for a girl? That defies all logic.[/quote]

I dunno I met girl once who looked a litlle like dead metal cept with lipstick and a bit more eye shadow. I dont think my friend was too happy I set him up with her as she wouldnt leave him alone afterwards for 3 months.

As a straight Brit male who deals alot with people are discriminated for the sexuality and trying to help them I can honestly say it doesnt matters if your striaght, Gay, Bi, Transgender, preop, postop or any where on the spectrem as long as your happy and you express yourself in a healthy way with the person you want to be with thats all that matters.

The only thing I cant stand is transformers Slush prose, those things are just twisted, I remember reading a girl writing some kinda hardcore story about her and pretender starscream, was having knightmares for weeks.

But seriously as long as you love the bot and are good to your fellow human beings who cares who call your partner? At the end of the day all you ask for is happiness and to be loved and to receive it back.

Joe, you are one of the best people I have met, not just in the fandom, but in real life. I didn't know about your sexuality until this year's botcon, but that will never change how I view you. Everytime we hang, I am overcome with such positive energy that I know it infects everyone around you. I am glad you are my friend and look forward to seeing you next year and every year after that my brother.

I'm still going through plastic crack withdrawal from Botcon. I played WFC during the double point weekend but haven't had a chance to really enjoy the single player game. I want to unlock all the achievements for Dragon Age but they keep releasing so many new DLC that will never happen.

Mass shifting or no mass shifting?

Because, assuming he was able to assume human proportions within his Pretender shell like they could in the japanese cartoons, it doesn't really seem much different from the preponderance of slash fiction about Draco Malfoy, or that book series about the really old, emotionally disturbed pretty boy.

But if he was still 45ft tall in his pretender shell... then that trips over into Gulliver kink. And that's diregarding the big metal wings that stuck out of his back.

I got lost in WFC, the single player is AWESOME!!! The only real difficult part was the last bosses. (obviously) But I really enjoyed the story.. I won't spoil to much for you but I will just say..if you haven't seen what happens in the autobot campaign..you might be surprised what happens cuz I know I was.

Dragon age was cool at first..then it just got boring for me, I dunno why. Just way to much to do you know what I mean? o.o I mean its cool to keep adding to the story but..there is just TO MUCH to do..way to time consuming for me. It is definitely a game for a hardcore gamer.

Sky-Lynx was my first crush (in 1986). He was so fancy... Like David Bowie...

Then, when I was a little older, and more discerning, I fell head over heals for that perky fuzor, Silverbolt... (but who didn't really?)

I think must I have a thing for flying guys with big... egos.

yes...

Kidding aside- what a wonderful idea for a thread. The queer community in TF-land is pretty quiet, but it's nice to know we're here together (:

Your not alone there, it does seem a bit boring. It took a long time for me to get into it. I think the only reason I got into it was because I got in an car accident and I was afraid to leave the house. During that time I finally got into it. I find myself enjoying the game more as I'm trying to unlock the achievements I couldn't get the first play through and skipping through all the dialogue.

I don't know if I will ever unlock all the achievements though. They keep throwing out DLC with more to unlock!

Sentinel Prime? Goodness no!

Now Ratbat...

Anyhow, finally got WFC figures in at the local TRU, (Acronyms FTW!), but couldn't find anything but Prime and Bumblebee. Sad.

A particularly attractive clerk saw me with a friend (straight) and asked me if I had found everything. I pointed out the Drift figure on the bottom of an WFC box and tried to use my "I don't know about toys, can you find this for me?" ploy to get him to look up the figure. (Very useful by the way, especially if you can flirt).

Instead he totally geeked out and told me how he knew that "King Grimlock" and "the rest of the Generations figures" were coming in next week!

I would have asked him to marry me then and there- but then he mentioned how he just bought a camera for his daughter... sigh.

Oh to marry a toy store man. It's like wanting to marry a doctor, only so less practical.

I am finding this thread very interesting. In large part because it is going so smoothly. I am very impressed with the attitudes involved, and I want to give a huge kudos to the moderators of seibertron.com for maintaining a positive atmosphere in this thread as well as with every other thread posted on this site. The community here is extremely respectful toward each other, and that is something we don't always see on the internet.

As far as it goes, I am about as straight as a person can be. I am also about as "dude" as a dude can be as well. I have had some great friends in my life who were gay, and I think the experience has been a very positive influence on my life as a whole. I have been a musician for a long time, and I tend to gravitate toward things that are a bit less common whether it be in the music, art or people. I like to learn other people's personal points of view and incorporate their ideas and perspectives into my own lfe, and I hope to be a better, more improved person every day. I am lucky enough to have parents that never told me to view other people as "wrong" or "strange". So, I never really cared about ethnicity, orientation, etc. As long I people can be respectful of me and I can do the same for them in return, then that pretty much sums up what I hope increasing numbers of people with be able to do in the future.

I have been very lucky to be able to accept people for who they are as individuals, and I have been lucky to also have been treated well in return by other individuals. It really is all about respect. :D

Bisexual here. Just now saw this thread and I have to say it makes me glad to see it. It’s exciting to see many people of many determinations here, as awkward as it sounds it makes me feel more comfortable posting here. (though honestly I'd be more afraid to admit some of my fanboy crazyness than my sexuality) I have never met a gay/bi Transformers fan before and now I know they exist and I’m not alone, something I bet many of us might have felt at one point. Thanks for starting this thread Ravenous Nightwind! :x

Ravenous Nightwind wrote:So many people are into the whole well your only one sex, but I don't think that's entirely true.

I wrote a paper for a class a few semesters back that you may have enjoyed. We had been studying the use of race, gender, and several other elements in various works of literature. One thing we covered was the idea that "race" is, in fact, purely a social construct. There is often less DNA difference between two people of different "races" than between two family members. The idea of "race" is just something that people invented and assigned different aspects to. When we discussed gender (not to be mistaken for a person's physical/genetic sex), we examined how "gender roles" have changed over time. There are four main "genders" (masculine male, feminine male, masculine female, feminine female). Jobs and clothing that were formerly considered specific to men are now perfectly acceptable for women as well, etc. With the slow but steady blurring of the "gender lines," I decided to write a paper with the thesis that gender is also a social construct, just like race, and nothing more. Basically, I stated that because one million people could all have different amounts of masculine/feminine qualities, gender is slowly being revealed as an abstract, and ultimately pointless, classification. Think of it as a line, with mostly men at one end and mostly women at the other, but as the years go by, the middle is mixing more and more, until eventually, there is no different.

Seriously, do you think your grandfather would use Axe body wash for men? No way.
Think your great great grandmother wore pants? Wrong again.

But these days, it's perfectly acceptable. Pants are no longer just for men, body wash no longer just for women. This may be kinda lame examples, but they're the easiest to think of off the top of my head. And in another hundred years or so, the lines will be blurred even more.

So, basically, gender is an abstract concept that was created and exists only in the human mind.

On a totally different note, joevill, dude, I had no idea! And I am usually pretty good at picking up people's tendencies. Anyways, that's awesome. I have some friends you should meet, if you're single, lol. See ya in Cali next year! :)

Lol I thought the fanboy craziness was pretty funny when I read it. I know the feeling about the whole feeling like your the only one thing, which is actually why I created this thread. I mean I knew there was others like my self out there but I just never met to many people that are. I only know one other..but hes kinda..trans? I'm not sure the right term since he probably won't ever get the surgery but yeah. I don't talk to him very often so there was no one for me to really talk to about transformers who was also just as crazy about it as I am. XD It made me feel less weird. x3

That whole thing actually makes perfect sense to me. I see people as just people no matter where they come from or who they are. So much is based upon looks and the way the social network works that its ridiculous. Though..I think things are that way because it helps people understand more about some things but at the same time its sort of irrelevant because those people despite the differences are still human beings which should still be treated with respect regardless of color or sexual orientation.
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity! :CON:

I consider myself to be bisexual, but I do have strong homosexual tendencies. At least that's what my boyfriend tells me.
