I think its awesome you treat people the way they should be. More people need to think like that. 16 though eh? Shes about the same age as you?

I've known I was gay since the 4th grade. XD

I remember when I was about 19 I went to visit this girl in california and I ended up kissing her..needless to say that experience helped me define even more who I am. Even though I was already sure about my sexuality then, it just helps me confirm it for my self because it felt really weird to me.. I dunno what to do with a woman..yet I know everything I'd do with a guy. XDDD

yeah were both the same age we met in school in year 9 (im from the uk so it will probably be 9th grade for you) when she moved down to where i go to school at the start of our year and been best friends ever since of course stupidly she was actually my first kiss but i dont care cos i love her and if anything ever happened i would still want to be friends with her. i was actually the first person she told when she came out as being bi but more lesbian and i had seen her kiss girls a few times and she still invites her friends over who are also lesbians and the would just sit and kiss but if she was doing the same with a man i wouldnt be so happy with it but i dont care, because i have an open mind about the situation im just happy to be with her,

Like a few others I have been watching this thread and would just put out there that I honestly believe the best thing anyone can do for their own well being is be truthful to who they are. If you lie to others it's not good but to lie to yourself is just unhealthy.

While I am straight myself, my fiance is bi, and for a time before we dated I wasn't even sure if I should approach her as some friends were sure she was a lesbian. Luckily I smartened up, and let her know I was interested. After we started to get closer we discussed her history a couple times and her honesty about her life attracted me even more. Taking that initial risk and talking to her was one of the best decisions I have ever made, right up there with marrying her.

In contrast however one of our closest friends is gay, he is a great guy one of the best individuals I know. However due to his concern that his family will ostracize him (very traditional Chinese) he has not come out to them, has dated girls because it what "he should do", and is heavily involved with his church, sadly a denomination that isn't exactly tolerant. He did start dating another guy last year, and they are good together but his inability to come out is causing strain on their relationship. As his friend I do my best to support his decisions, but I can't help thinking the damage he may be doing by not fully coming out is worse than any (long-term) damage involved with telling his parents. In the end, it is his life and I hope he finds happiness whatever path he takes.

and now.... back to lurking... (please no "stalker" comments) :P

Does Ground Zero still post here? He was a mod years back, but unless my glasses are rubbish, I can't see his name on the listings.

I'm not gay. But what keeps stranging me out is I keep discovering that old friends from school are gay. So far, everyone who has been my best friend while I was in school has turned out to be a lady who likes ladies. Then one of my best guy friends turned out to be gay too! I'm supposed to be their friend, and I'm the last too know they're that way inclined. I suppose its rather amusing. Kinda awkward when gay ladies start hitting on me and I have no idea what's going on.

I just like Transformer violence. That's all. I'm not in this for any form of romance. I just want good old fashioned giant robotic violence. Yeah.

And I'm eagerly awaiting the day when Transformesr isn't "cool" any more, so the 14 year old fan girls can go back to writing about their dreamy math teacher and sparkly vampires.
Something memorable here.

I like the violence and the social interactions, personally.

I hate to disappoint, but many of the slash/romance fangirls I've come across have been fans of TF for a while, and are older than 14. (It's kind of amusing sometimes how wildly different in pretty much everything the fandom is between the "big" sites and the smaller sites and places like DA.)

Hey, why not have both violence and romance? Transformers S&M! XD I've always imagined Tarantulas and Rampage would have been into that. Tarantulas liked tying up and hurting whoever he could get his hands on. And Rampage just loved pain, even if it was his own. And they both seemed to get off on it more than they probably should have in the cartoon. And Tarantulas did have his little lair. Who knows what else went on in there?! The slash fic practically writes itself. And then there's Dinobot II...

Right, just in case people were starting to think I only checked this thread for a chance to have something smartarsery to say (and to distract people from any further Slash discussion!), here's my little "gay" story.

I went through my "bi" phase in my early 20's. Not going to divulge any details because that's my personal story and I actually am a fairly private person.

I grew up, not to hate homosexuals, far from it, it just never meant anything to me and given that I grew up (and still live in) a rural area, there wasn't much of "it" around.

When I first found my way onto the internet I discovered chat rooms, became quite addicted actually, anyway, I made a few friends. The website I chatted on had a nifty little feature where you could search for your friends and find what room they're in. So one day I went looking for one of my friends and found her in the Bi-Sex chat room, I went in under a different alias to lurk and timed it right for her to proudly declare to the whole room that she likes girls as well as boys.

That little revelation hit me good and it opened my eyes and set me on the course for my own little "sexual exploration".

I remember taking a trip to Sydney and going for a wander around the city. I wandered down this one little street, found a nice little adult shop, wandered in for a look around, they had the booths at the back with movies and stuff so I went in just to see what it was all about, when I came out there were a bunch of guys lined up along the wall looking me up and down. I left and kept walking and all these guys kept checking me out.

Turns out I was walking down the main gay street of Sydney. Didn't discover that until a few years later. Explains the looks I got!

I have one gay cousin, though I think I may have two. I have a cousin i've never actually met but last I heard she was a lesbian.

The guy who retired at the end of last year and who's job I took over was also gay. He's in his late 50's and experienced all the anti-homosexuality mentality in his younger days living in Sydney. When he moved up here after a big split from his then boyfriend (after retiring he moved back down south with his old bf) he took to wearing a wedding band so that people would assume he was married and two other reasons 1 - so people would stop trying to set him up with women and 2 - he didn't want people to know he was gay. As I said, he experienced the bigotry in his younger days and that left a lasting impression on him. He often said he didn't want people to know he was gay because he feared the small town mentality.

Which is in direct contrast to the gay guy who plays sax in our community band. He's 19 now but i've known him since he was about 15, I suspected he was gay (mannerisms, the way he talked) but never gave it much thought. That was his business not mine. But we got talking one day (it was bordering on a D & M actually) and he insinuated his sexuality, thinking he might have been bi I asked straight out if he was gay, and he said yes. So I asked him if many other teenagers his age knew which they did and while he's experienced SOME negativity towards it the bulk of people in town haven't given a toss.

So I look at John who lived his life unable to really be himself out of fear, and I look at Pete who can be who he wants to be and is, for the most part, widely "accepted" (don't like using that term but you get the idea) and I think it's great much society has changed over the years. There's a long way to go yet but it's most certaintly a good sign.

The one thing about society though is that its accepted those sorta things before, even though its been in different cultures. I mean you would think by reading greek history that people would of figured it out. XD You know I think they actually changed a legend somewhere...I can't remember what it was though I think it was about how someone went to war and got killed because of his gay lover or something? I can't remember. @.@ Anyway, I think people look to much at religion and that is the reason why most people dislike it because it violates their religion. Plus then it evolves into jealousy in natural assurances to for some or violates someones manhood which is just..dumb. Either way I do believe your right, its changing and over the years maybe people won't be so stupid. ^-^

In a similar parallel, huge age gaps in marriages. ie, dirty old man marrying a young woman. This is frowned on these days but it's been a pretty common thing for a LONG time.

I think it's just easier for each generation to ignore the previous generation and decide for themselves what should be society acceptable or not. Only now that we live in an age dominated by technology that we're more aware of previous generations and everything that happened so we're able to gauge how much things have changed.

did i forget to mention that im only 16
I think its awesome you treat people the way they should be.

XDDD

yeah were both the same age we met in school in year 9 (im from the uk so it will probably be 9th grade for you) when she moved down to where i go to school at the start of our year and been best friends ever since of course stupidly she was actually my first kiss but i dont care cos i love her and if anything ever happened i would still want to be friends with her. i was actually the first person she told when she came out as being bi but more lesbian and i had seen her kiss girls a few times and she still invites her friends over who are also lesbians and they would just sit and kiss but if she was doing the same with a man i wouldnt be so happy with it but i dont care, because i have an open mind about the situation im just happy to be with her,
I'm not sure what to say to that. XD It makes me think your sitting there watching while doing something to your self. XD
But anyway..Its cool your open minded about it all.

hell no thats just wrong and anyway we were in public
Lol wow. XD

i at first when she told me she was gay didnt believe it it was tough for me as i even then had a thing for her but when me her and her friend went into our localshopping centre where we hang out he asked me if i believed her about her being gay so i admitted to her i didnt and then her girlfriend arrived and i said hi, i never met her before then but mynow girlfriend said to me i'll prove to you im gay and they kissed for 5 minutes straight
then she said now do you believe im gay i can safely say i believed her after that.the weekend she asked me out was just mad though we had such fun :P yes i mean it that way lol

i know it is irrelevant but i have now been with her for 6 months :) im taking her out for dinner. we practically live together now lol
end of the rebirth part 3
daniel: its good to be together again. arcee i just wanna say, arcee i, i...
arcee: you dont have to daniel, i feel the same way too
O.o thats just wrong

I think though if more people look at the past and look at night we might get more things done.

They say in the united states that the government is separate from the church but yet in california the church prevented gay marriage. That's something I don't understand. Is the law faulty? lol I don't think its centered just around that though, I think its a lot more things that people fail to recognize or don't want to see. Even though the way things are done are more reasonable and more efficient..the way people think has yet to change. Lets just hope there isn't some crazy man in the future who wants to cause mass genocide to all the non-hetrosexuals. XD

Honestly? Yes, IMHO.

Even aside from the moral problems with banning gay marriage, there's the simple fact that it certainly seems to violate the constitutional rights to things like freedom of belief, not being discriminated against due to gender, and the general edict of the "pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness", and I find this sort of blatant disregard for constitutional rights on the part of the law to be troubling.

In fact, if memory serves, my state of Massachusetts actually filed a measure challenging the constitutionality of the federal ban on gay marriage. (I don't know off-hand what the outcome was, though.)

So if that is the case this problem goes beyond gay marriage but into the way the law is built in its self contradicting. o.o

The law asserts separation of church and state, but that does not stop the general populace from voting the way their preacher tells them to. I don't think the problem is the law so much as it is the people who do not bother to form their own opinions.
