Yep. An unfortunate truth.

Other ROTF sales items not worth mentioning.

Zellers Metrotown should have about 8-10 Combaticon packs.

They may not be on the shelf, but look to see it a pallet of shipping boxes is at the end of the toyland near the elevator.

Last night they had 3 shipping boxes on a pallet of stuff, including 3 Combaticon boxes (each hold 4) 2 looked unopened, and the thrid was missing one and I took the second out.

Thanks dude! :D Unfortunately my girlfriend didn't spring for the MP Grimlock I was really hoping for, but I got the next best thing, the Matrix of Leadership box set! :D

Did anyone go to the TRU Birthday celebration over the weekend? The first 100 customers at each store was given a free gift card valued between $5-$50! I was lucky enough to score a $10 one at Bowmac/Broadway, so I did a little toy shopping. Nothing really new there for Transformers, but I did manage to grab an RC Helicopter I've been eyeing for months now. $10 off from being on sale, another $10 from the gift card... Can't beat getting a $50 toy for $30!

Later on I went to Metro, and there was evidence of the latest ROTF Deluxe Wave, as they had a couple Arcees and the Skorponok repaints. Unfortunately all the Thrusts were gone, so I again didn't pick any TFs up.

Leaders at all TRUs are $10 off right now, I'm really debating getting Prime with the last of my Birthday money. But I feel kind of reluctant. I was looking at it in Costco (same price there $49.99, along with tons of Jetfires), and I just wasn't feeling it. Maybe it's the knowledge that I already have something so similar at home. But I just know if I don't get it soon I'm going to regret it...still kicking myself for not getting Energon Galvatron in stores! #-o

I completely blanked on the TRU celebration until I was at Metro yesterday and remembered.

Two walls of shelf filler for TF's and even Joes at 3for$20 I couldn't do as I couldn't find 3 to grab (even for modding).

Happy belated Kirby.

Thanks!

Darn, too bad you missed out on the gift cards. I got to Broadway at 9:20 and was suprised to see about 40 people in line already. When I left they still had a guy standing at the door with a big stack in his hands. Too bad I couldn't get my girlfriend to come with me. I actually tried to cheat and go to Metro after, but they were long gone by the time I got there, they probably get a lot more customers, being in the mall.

no offense to our beloved buddies from the west
but......
this Canadian Sightings thread is starting to look like the "Offical Vancouver Sightings Thread".
whatever happened to the torontonians, ottawanians, b-town crew (yes i'm talking about all the brown guys), mississaugians, etc. I haven't heard anything from our friends from Montreal, Nova Scotia crew, or anyone from the Central.
Any news from Winnipeg.....or even grain city aka Saskatchewan?
C'mon peeps we need more news from around town and all of Canada

Hey not our fault if we are the primary posters in the thread. Everyone is invited to report on their area of the country, the west coast just seems to be a bit more active currently.

I've actually been wondering where everyone is. Especially 1337W422102, he hasn't posted for quite awhile now, and he's usually pretty timely with the TRU flyers. :(

AHA! That's my man! Enjoy the chopper. Which did you get? The Twin Thunder? I love the Twin Thunder. It's so bad. [Obligatory The Wizard reference]

Remember way back when we were upset by the smacktarded prices of the Human Alliance sets up here? [Don't get me started on the Target-exclusive GI Joe items Zellers stocks!] Well, even with the TRU's sale, they're still too expensive. $40's better than $50, but still asking a lot.

So I was at Sears today looking at their "up to 50% off" liquidation toys. Generally, they were older toys that didn't move and some had opened packages. Most sucked and/or weren't even CLOSE to 50% off. They even had a crappy quick-changing Sports-Coupe-to-Batmobile set from The Dark Knight and both figures were missing. They must've only dropped the price by $5. Open palm, insert face.

Anyway, among the liquidation toys was this:

Image
Image

The box looked like it had been Christmas-morning'd and the robot head had popped off, rattling around inside the box (you can see it in the first pic, in front of the rear wheel). The human figure looked like it had never been removed at all. Seemed to me like someone bought it, maybe transformed it once and managed to get it back into car mode, and returned it.

There was no red liquidation price tag on it, so I brought it to a Customer Service desk and told them I found it at the 50% liquidation table. Since Sears charges $40 for HAs to begin with, I walked away with him for $20+tax. He's only missing the instructions (found them at Unicron.com, anyway) and a single missile.

I was glad to find out that the car mode is large enough for StarCom figures! I used to try to fit StarCom space marines into my Alternators. They'd usually just end up in the passenger seat, if they fit at all.

So anyway, I teamed up one of my StarCom guys with this Camaro, as for me, it's a generic suit of transforming battle armour and not a Transformer, and I really find the idea of an alien war machine having an organic person sit on its arm to control a weapon the robot could fire itself in the first place excessively stupid. My story is that the space marine pilots a mech and needs to go undercover, so he's paired up with an undercover cop and his mech is able to disguise itself as a civilian vehicle. It feels good to imagine again!

One of the marine's guns fits in the missile storage area, giving that arm some much-needed firepower:

Image

Folding the foot stand down inside the 'cockpit,' I made a seat for the mech pilot (please excuse the really crap photo):

Image

And there's room for his partner, too (purely functional storage, as it makes no sense to have him floating like that):

Image

Oh, and I naturally did the legswap mod. It just looks better. (You can see the StarCom figure sticking out a bit):

Image

Not bad for $20!

I actually haven't seen the Twin Thunder anywhere around here, aside from that empty box at Zellers. It wasn't the one I wanted to start with anyway. I got the red Havoc Turbo Blast, it's actually really cool. Looks like a real heli and does everything but fly backwards, which is cool with me, I get about 10 minutes of play out of a charge. Took me a few goes to get the hang of it, but dang is it fun! It's really sturdy too, made of bouncy plastic kind of similar to a ping pong ball, instead of that styrofoam crap the regular Havocs are made of. Comes in real handy when I'm watching my girlfriend bounce it off the wall. And the ceiling. And my MP Megatron. #-o

Great find, by the way, congrats!

Don't you dare hate on that crash-resistant lightweight micro-aviation foam! :-B

Excellent choice of a starter chopper. You'll get a lot of fun out of them. Just be careful where you fly! I usually move aside the living room table and fly away from the TV. Turn off fans and air conditioners as the wind WILL mess up the tiny copter. Avoid ceilings as the spinning rotors tend to pull the copters towards the ceiling. Be gentle with the sticks, as you will probably never have to push them to their maximum - just a little bit of rotation or thrust is enough, usually. And when you fly close to obstacles, rather than have the rotors spin and touch the objects, just ditch. Choke the engine and let the bird fall, as she will survive. Don't be afraid to ditch often - it'll help when you're learning!

Best of luck, and have fun making the living room airspace your bitch.

lol, well I imagine the styrofoam stuff is not so bad, I just have a lot more peace of mind knowing I have a heli made of plastic, not the same material as old school coffee cups (haha, I know, I know, it's way stronger than that).

Thanks for the tips! I've learned to ditch often for sure. I need to pass on the tips to my girlfriend. She likes tends to keep going near obstacles, including my fingers when I'm trying to pick the damn thing up from the last crash. XD I had a hard time getting it off the ground at first, and I was worried it was the wind from the crack under my apartment door. Turns out I was being TOO cautious and not giving it enough power, so it was just spinning on the ground. Adjusting the trim helped a lot with that too, lol. Now I just hope these things don't get as addictive as the cars. I think I can live with just one micro heli...for now. XD

Oh, and luckily it's not as noisy as I expected. It's more like an electric shaver than a drill...so hopefully I can fly it during daylight hours without driving my neighbors insane.

If you're going to fly with your girl, let her train first and get the hang of it. Then, you could always get the Laser Battle set, which is made of awesome. 2 Havocs that emit lasers at each other (probably just IR, though) and you can have air battles at home. Sounds like WIN.

Sorry if I get you addicted to crash-resistant foam crack. 8) RC cars are a gateway hobby.

^ Haha, yeah I read about that battle set...sounds pretty awesome. I think I should stick to this one now and see how addicted I get. I do kind of want an outdoor plane now, but that'll have to wait for spring...

I'll definitely let my girlfriend figure it out though. It's always way easier getting toys in the house when she wants to play too. XD

I haven't been able to get down to Metropolis, Lougheed Wal-Mart of the TRU's in a while. Can anyone tell me if they've got new stuff? (particularly Long Haul or Grindor)

I hit a couple TRU's, Zellers, and Wal*Mart earlier this week, and honestly there was nothing that big. Zellers this week has 25% off Joes stuff and I think $10 off Voyagers.

I should be by Metropolis later today to watch their Gundam building contest, If there is anything interesting, I'll post later.

Once I ran an Anime festival with over 6,000 attendees. Now... not so much.

Burning Fallen was reported at Metro Zellers, and Human Alliance Skids at TRU, but nothing else.

Sorry for the double post guys, but Universe Cyclonus has been sighted in a couple Vancouver area Superstores. Surrey 104th St/Ave(?) specifically had 7 of them, and maybe other locations as well. I never saw him at any regular retail stores, so if anyone's still looking, try Superstore.

Went to Metro over the weekend, wasn't really anything new aside from some Human Alliance Skids. Looks smaller than I expected, but I'm not collecting HAs anyway.

Metropolis had ROTF Thrust so I finally broke down and got him. I got tired of waiting for him to show up at TRU so I didn't mind spending a few bucks extra. Not much else new there, aside from some cute chibi PVC TFs, I snapped them all up cuz I knew my girlfriend would love them (there were only 3). And she definitely did, even if she couldn't figure out who they all were at first. XD

At least I don't have to go out that far today. Lougheed Wal-Mart usually has the new stuff before Metro does anyway.

You should have come down to Maple Ridge, then. Haney Place Zellers has had him (and Gears and Ejector) for weeks. Well, Ejector just showed up, but they've had the others for a while.
