Character sketches and in progress images

Got a great pic of G1 Op or BW Megs? Whether it's 2-D or 3-D it's welcome as is any other form of art outside the custom figure world.

Iskander wrote:I definitely agree with tentagil, the third mode isn't really neccesary, the submersible ability can be somehow explained in the comic (if needed), the hovercraft mode looks pretty cool as it does the bot mode, one thing I'd remove (if possible) is the helicopter tail, or at least the small blades.

And yeah, you are imrpoving quite quickly, congrats MS.

I hope you can give me some days to come up with a colorscheme, you know I'll be very busy with my Star Wars stuff this weekend  . But just a quick note about the colors, maybe if Loqi has decided on the Legionair colors we can use something similar or something that contrast with that.

O.K. I'll do away with the 3rd mode (it was hard to transform it into that mode anyways). Just let me know when you make the color scheme and maybe post some digi-colored pics or something. I like that idea about making it fit in with Loqi's Legionair drone (I think that all 3 of the drones should have similar paint schemes and designs in reference to the Roman armor :P ).

Ra88 wrote:How about removing the tailblades, and replacing them with small cannons/machineguns, similiar to what Boba Fett's Slave 1 has?

Good idea. That might look more useful than blades (honestly I just never got around to removing them  ).

Lord_Loqi wrote:the main body armor is black wih purple under armor and I'm thinking gold, blue or red highlights depending on what color i decide to make the weapons.

There you go, Isk. Whenever you get a chance (I know about the Star Wars exposition, so take your time) you can possibily use this as a base for the color scheme (or wait until Loqi makes the actual figure).

Lord_Loqi wrote:Sorry i haven't gotten any color stuff done yet. I took off yesterday with the intent of doing so but ended up seeing starwars twice and then getting a little drunk with my friends afterwords.

glad we partied at my place. I didn't have to drive home. And for those who are concerned my friends had 2 designated drivers. No dwi's here.

We're all concerned, Loqi. It's good to hear that you had 2 designated drivers. I myself can't stand the taste of alcohol, so I can't say I understand what it's like getting drunk, but at least you had fun (right?).

Thanks again everyone.

I only drink about 3 times a year ( and never alone) and I have a low tolerance. Two smirnoffs and I hang up the towel if you know what I mean. I have yet to have a hangover so far.

Good. Alcohol addiction is a terrible thing (my dad and his brother were addicts. Poor waste of money and your life). I'm not saying it's bad to have a couple of drinks now and then, just don't make it a habit. There are so many more important things to spend your money on (like Transformers :P ).

I came up with a concept design for the cyber seclaz (spell?). remebered they are technically glorified blenders after being enslaved so I gave it a power cord to replace the tail. I based it off my custom EVA design I made based off of the mechs in evangelion for the chest up. the ribcage down to the feet are drawn based on a General grievus from starwars (sorry no figure on hand, drawn from memory) and the arms would be from a beast machines figure (the cobra, don't remeber the name)

comments?

also i am not building this figure but feel free to if you want.

You mean "Night Viper" from the BM?

Anyway, I think that it looks nice, and the tail power cord is a neat idea. However, earlier Ra had posted an extremely detailed description of the Sec'Laz (I was going to do the figure, but I thought I should ask him first); and this is what he said:

Ra88 wrote:Well, I was originally planning to have the Sec'Laz look like Deceptor's normal form, but it would be possible that he's just an undeveloped Sec'Laz, with being a priest and all.

The old Sec'Laz were 100% biological, but the new ones are cyborgs, with 60% of their bodies technological and only a few can transform (very basic, just wings folding out and cockpits covering their heads). For their appearance you'll have to take those Genosean Warriors (the bug people) from Star Wars Episode 2 in mind, but with crocodile-like tails, their upper legs shaped like wasp stingers (with 3 spikes coming out of the sides), very thin waists, bat-like wings (but instead of leather inbetween the "fingers", the transparant stuff that insects have), 3 claws on their arms, tiny T-Rex like arms on their chest and finally short T-Rex like heads, but with 6 eyes (3 on each side) and spike-like hairs on the back of their heads

But then again that's for the old Sec'Laz. Yours is obviously a "slave" version, so I don't know. You'd really have to get Ra's opinion on this one.

Hope I was some help

Looks pretty cool, only thing I'd change is the connector for something not so obviously Earth based, maybe somthing like those connectors that earphones have.

Hmmm...

I have to admit it. I looked at that too and thought that it was kind of silly (way too Earth based); but I thought that the general idea was good.

Like Isk said, maybe something less recognizable; like a clamp or plug in the shape of a garden stake (you know, with searations on the side so that it can't be pulled out easily).

Not bad, not bad at all. However, I agree with the tail-thing, but I rather like the plug idea, so let's keep that in. And for a different look: how about letting it have a circular front instead of a square one, and then three plugs instead of two (sorry, got no idea how those things are called  ).

But I have to critize a bit: Like MS said, Sec'Laz have 6 eyes (three on each side), so you could draw two smaller ones beneath the big one. And they have 4 arms (2 big ones and 2 smaller ones on the chest). Maybe you could draw the smaller ones with some kind of machinegun/lasercannon/flamethrower/etc on them, to drive the point of cyborg soldier home?

WW Ratbat? Funny, it reminds me of a mutated Mouser (those little monsterdrones from TMNT).

I am also a huge EVA fan. This actually looks a lot like the kind of design I've been trying to do with one of my original characters. Imperiax Prime actually. He's a powered up version of a Monkey/Cat Fuzor and lost the ability to transform. I may have to incorporate some of your design elements into him.

If that's okay with you of course.

you should see one of my robo monkey pics. I's a cross between buck rogers and mc-hammer's parachute pants. I'll see if I can find a pic of it and pm it to you.

That drawing of the Sec'Laz soldier reminds me of Beast Machines Jetstorm from the cartoon (except with legs and a tail)

New figure of Scere

Postby MetalSamamon » Sun Jun 12, 2005 1:18 pm

Hello,

I don't want to give anything away too much about the spin-off series; but there will be a new version of Scere coming out of this.

Right now the details are sketchy; but I think that he's going to be an Ultra sized figure with a shooting disk launcher and an electronic light-up weapon. He'll be made from a Depthcharge base and his face will be modified so that it has a beard and mustache (like Alpha Trion) and his neck will be slightly extended.

As I said in another post earlier, I'm in the process of moving so I won't have any pics up for a while; but I do have all of the necessary pieces to make the figure.

Thanks, and as soon as I am able to get WIP pics up; I'll post them.

Finally started the painting of Deceptor, and it's coming along great. Should have him finished tomorrow if I hurry it up. Sorry, no pics cause my camera is broken, and my grandparents are out of town for the evening. :(

Well, I'm almost with finished Deceptor's normal form (just need to redo some sloppy paint areas), now to get cracking on his exo-armor...And to fix that $%#@ camera.

Now to only paint the exo-armor's limbs and touch up on the paintapps.

That poor, poor Falcon zord. The last cool thing to come out of the Power Rangers line. Looks really cool Ra88. Can't wait to see the final colors.

Actually, that sucker was yellowed beyond imagination. When I found it in the attic, it looked like somebody had sprayed yellow paint over it.

Then go and do it! :P

That chestplate of him was a real bitch to paint, though. If I remember correctly, he has at least 4 layers. But I think it came out pretty well.

Finally got to work on Panzer again, and thanks to my sister's camera I can show you these wip pics.

Pics 01-02 show the bot mode, note he can hold the machine gun in his hands now.

Pics 03-05 show the new hands, I replaced the saws for the hands of a KO Sixbuilder.

Pics 06-07 show how the feet now can hide for alt mode, if you look at the Tankor mold it seems like this was the first intention of the designers.

Pics 08-09 show the new head, it only lacks the visor, but I'll wait until we decide on a color scheme to make that. The head comes from a Flying Dragon Toys Fire Engine Bot, I sculpted a mouth over the face plate and added the yellow parts (also coming from the KO Sixbuilder hands)

Pics 10-12 show the alt mode (remember that poster from the other thread 8) ?)
