Can't wait for that next shelf, the middle section has me really curious!

Also, you have such a great flare for the action. Everywhere you look, something is happening and characters are interacting with one another. There are some really cool toys there too. How did you come across that Alternity Megatron? What's your quick review on him?

Thanks mang! I like to make a scene that tells a story. Although the story is usually just PEW PEW PEW!

Alternity Megs was a whim. I threw him on my Xmas list a few years back, and my Mother-in-law hooked it up. :x
Honestly, he is kind of a mess at first. There is nothing all that intuitive about him, but once you learn the ropes he is entertaining. I like the scale vs. complexity. And there are some details on him that really shine. Love the head sculpt. Very Diaclone/Microman. Dig the samurai skirt, and the swords are cool. Good articulation. And I love having a Megatron in that color scheme.

Very nice. Those dynamic poses/scenes gives me inspiration. I tend to get stuck in the static/stoic pose realm.

What interest me the most is the shelving and lighting. Is that custom? Are those sheets of acrylic stuck in slots of the wood?

Wow, thanks.

Most of the infrastructure is a hodge-podge of things I have either collected or made. The acrylic sheets are stacked on various things, but mostly clear acrylic display risers. They are cheap and easy to find. They are great because of their transperancy. You can see the toys through them and they allow the light to pass through.
Lighting has always been a struggle. I am just now venturing into LED solutions. Good lighting makes all the difference in the world.

The crazy Ark looking thing is a custom build I just completed. If you like, You can see more about that here.http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/toy-displays-making-them-more-realistic--t102431s25.php#p1630618

The last third of the shelf that hosts most of the Decepticons also has a custom built display thingy. Kind of hard to make out in the pics. It is wood and acrylic with some built in lighting tricks.

Thanks for leaving your comments. It is really nice to finally show this stuff to people who actually know what they are looking at.

That's an awesome setup you've got there. I'm diggin' the different scenes and shelving techniques. What is that lighted bit in the middle; with the blue light panels? Did you make that yourself?

Ha Cheers to you too! Although I am not necessarily looking forward to the big 40! But as long as I continue to get carded at the bar every once in a while I'll make it. LOL

I did read through that thread and watched the youtube video. What an innovative way to use something with relatively no use these days!

If I had known about this a few months ago I would probably have not done all of the styrene work I did on my Ark diorama!

Oh well, I think I might try this approach for the Nemesis diorama I am going to do next.

I'm using some pretty boring Ikea shelving myself. I've looked at several acrylic risers and some clear step spice racks as well. The problem is that lends to a pretty boring museum like display. I'm really trying to step into a more dynamic pose range.

You can see the beginnings of my small collection here: http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/louisiana-transformers-sightings-t45066s1325.php

Once I get my stuff together, I plan on creating a thread here for my collection and silly pics.

I have fairly limited space, but currently plenty of room to grow. Maybe one day I can try my hand at a diorama like you and donny. And speaking of which. Donny, duuuuude... that sh*t is impressive. Thanks for all the links and inspirations to both of you.

Will do, thanks. I couldn't justify his space ship, but as soon as I saw the double decker couch, he was mine.

HEY! What are you guys doing in my room?

Just kiddin'. You're welcome here. :D
I too checked out your hoard. Great stuff. I also LOLed my A off at Benny and Brainstorm.

Heck, when I first started displaying my toys, I just used the boxes they came in and what ever I could find. Scraps of lumber, molded styrofoam packaging, glass blocks, bricks, anything that had an interesting shape. Once you lay out all yer dudes, they become the focus really. A good play set is always a good place to start too, although the options are slim for TF's these days.
I would definitely say some of the acrylic risers or cubes are a great place to start. I have been searching for translucent colored ones, but with no luck. I'm going to have to go the custom route and have them made. If you can find an acrylics supplier, they usually have a shop for custom orders, and the prices are usually fare. Also a fun find at these places are scraps. They usually have a discounted scrap bin, where you can find all kinds of small sheets in standard and funky shapes. Combine those with some risers and you got a SPACE CITY!

SHELF TWO A Brief Overview of Ancient History

Ok everyone, hope your hungry. Get ready to bite into the next layer of Robo cake.
This shelf is near and dear to my heart because it really represents my childhood. While a lot of these toys are not from my childhood. It really embodies the spirit of that time for me.

This shelf is home to most my G1 collection. It is also home to Microman and Micronauts. As well as some other fun oddities from childhood and beyond.

ENJOY!
