This thread lead to the most interesting and the coolest Star Wars story ending ever. ever.
I like how Rebels expanded upon how some of the beloved clones from The Clone Wars managed to escape the order 66 protocol, and how at the end of Clone Wars they started to show some troopers becoming aware of what they would do and then killing them before they could act properly on it.
Clone Wars was great. and Darth Maul was such a badass, and then Clone Wars made me love the character in his entirety. He really was a great character that needed developed and Clone Wars and Rebels gave us that

The last time I really enjoyed the Star Wars universe was with the two Knights of the Old Republic RPGs -- I was new to WRPGs at the time, and these had fun combat, great dialogue trees (!), and the option to know the power of the Dark Side = AWESOME

It just feels like Disney isn't even trying with the new movies. Rebels and Rouge One were great, and gave me hope, but The Last Jedi, once I took a real look at it, was just terrible.

Even if that includes Chewbacca dying?
Anyways... I must admit I didnt like the Clone Wars, whatever I watched. Seeing Jedi mow down random droids feels so vapid and boring. Droids are the most boring villains you could ever have and clones are super boring too.
Oh and thats aother thing, what is the use of seducing seperatists to join your group when the entire galaxy will surrender itself to you anyways? (and democratically too)
What I did find fun were those Paul Rudish Clone Wars animated segments. And those are still cannon since they end with Anakin and Obi Wan about to go after Greivous.

There were definite ups and downs. I am disappointed though. Lots of stuff just chucked in the bin.Ironhidensh wrote:At this point I feel obligated to say **** you Disney. The Expanded Universe will always be superior.
I was happy if they stopped with those! They were pretty dang awesome.william-james88 wrote:What I did find fun were those Paul Rudish Clone Wars animated segments. And those are still cannon since they end with Anakin and Obi Wan about to go after Greivous.

I think the crew on the 3D CW cartoon gave a crap too, and I did enjoy that series as well. I haven't done Rebels yet, but I will someday.
And while Disney is a giant mindless automaton, I think the real Sith Lord in all of this, and who we should direct our disdain towards is Kathleen Kennedy. You are gonna loose every time when you put a buisiness person at the head of a creative endeavor/entity.
A buddy of mine sent me this the other day.

Pretty uncanny, no?
And Will, as far as the Jedi VS. Droids, that was all a mandate to apiese the Censors. If you want to sell violence to kids, it has to be against robots.
Especially in cartoons. I agree it was pretty lame. Those Droids were a bunch of doofuses. Where's the challenge in taking out an army of coffee makers?

Well while its the same director, its not the same artistic director (person in charge of the look and feel). Genndy Tartakovsky relied a lot on Paul Rudish for the style of both that show and Samurai Jack (and other collaborations). Then they both moved on to other very hgh profile endeavours. Genndy Tartakovsky went to do the hotel transylvania stuff but Paul Rudish went to Disney to be the head of their Mickey Mouse output, such as the shorts.
And when you compare both these different projects, you see that its the Mickey Mous stuff which more closely resembles the style of Samurai Jack and Clone Wars (especially the pace of the animation and the art style):

Yes, they were behind the star wars shorts. I was just trying to show that it was really a team of two guys and explain why the style is different between that collaboration and what we see in hotel transylvania.
Also, Paul Rudsh was not involved on a storyboard capacity for the recent last season of samurai jack. I didnt watch it so I dont know how different that made the show.

That whole Tartakovsky crew are all very tight.
And when did Harrison Ford become such a curmudgeony old man? everytime I see him now and he talks about how he hates Han Solo, and Han ruined his career, I want to remind him to leave his multi million dollar Montana mountain paradise property to drive into town and check the balance in his bank account.
