I am not going to point anyone out, but today I've had it. A bot/con, had the most offensive one word Motto I've seen in a while, needless to day i hope they read the boards and change it befor the powers that be find them.

Wasn't it like 6-8 months ago Ryan posted that HMW needs to be rated PG with the Mottos/Team Name/Bot names....

I am soooo suprized there isnt a filter on the botnames tho? I mean..... but then again i would take away form glyph and v2..... and i know words like twat, can be set off by a word like wristwatch, or saltwater.... or a filter for "****" gets screwed up by Shitake, or yoshitaka..... but still

PG-13 is thus a sterner warning to parents, particularly when deciding which movies are not suitable for younger children. Parents, by the rating, are alerted to be very careful about the attendance of their under-teenage children. A PG-13 film is one which, in the view of the Rating Board, leaps beyond the boundaries of the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, or other contents, but does not quite fit within the restricted R category. Any drug use content will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. prowl, ****(unless it's your thing) is not a sexual expletive, neither is bitch or **** so are OK by Pg-13 standards, and and what's wrong with being a jew, it's no more racist than calling one of my cons Britbot, get off your PC high horse.

filter problem easily solved....simple but needs a bit of work.
block individual terms, query for any matching terms found within words be made into a list and sent to mods every so often.

Though I loathe to admit it when he is, Burn is right, when you see things like that, alert the mods like Mkall about things like that.

HOWEVER, this does bring up a point that the more 'mature' and prominent players should recongize, which is to stop turning a blind eye to many things like ppl using 'F**k' and racial or cultural slurs and alert the people in charge. Many forums and games have hot buttons to alert mods on inappropriate behavior, so maybe Glyph should strongly look into that (and Ryan for the boards as well).

As for the content directly, meh, most of these children do that just for the hell of it b/c they think its cool, normally b/c they have just added these vulgar words to their vocabulary. And besides, nearly off of them that you pointed out are inactive and should probably just be deleted.

beleive it or not the board and the game actually already have filters! and have done for some time

EDIT: which really makes me wonder why prowl was searching for those terms, perhaps he's bored and what's to cuase a fuss or get some brownie points with the mods.

On the one hand, some of those might be offensive.
On the other hand I am against censorship.
I have never seen any of those in missions
and you must just be looking for something to argue about.
All this is going to do by posting those links is give
faster access to the wittle kiddies who will really find that stuff funny and possibly urge more people to do it.

i agree with tammuz and discharge. i'd also love to see Ninjaburns idea of a cultural or ethnic slur? HMW is one of the best modded boards around, most of the times overly so. where are the racial or religious slurs! this board is like a white picket fence for pete's sake. notice i used pete instead of god so as not to offend buddhists, confucians, muslims, jews, pagans etc...

I was wondering why I never see any of this crap in my mission logs, and then I realized that it probably has something to do with being a level 3-6 player.

How many of these guys actually stick around long enough to even make it to level 1?

I was working on my bots when the F--k motto popped up and well it got my ass worked up... i wasn't looking to start anything... :p

And the "Jew bot" thing, I am sure that if it wasnt a 13 year old whos motto wasn't "f--k" i would say he has no malic twards using the name.... but beacuse Its a 12 year old with a motto like that I am sure he means something derogitory by it, and probily would be betters off writing a Nice bio for it that explains the use of the word!

I find this highly hypocritical. Simply because of your use of a religion's saviour's name in vain. But then again, I can't change your language use...

Even if I complained about it, you're entitled to use the language you so chose to. The problem lies in the fact that the site is frequented by numerous members of different countries. I know for a fact that the PG-13 rating here in the States is highly different than the other ratings in other countries. So, one's PG-13 is another's G and could very well be another's X or NC-17.

So....

Believe it or not, we mods have known about most of these for a long time, they (The F--- related ones at least) would've been changed a while ago had it not been for two factors:
1) These guys are no longer active, and thus would not respond to PMs asking them to change their names, and most likely wouldn't bother responding to emails asking for such actions to me taken.
2) There are only two people on this site with the ability to change them w/o the user's permission: Seibs and Glyph. Seibs' concern is elsewhere on the site (as usual) and Glyph made a comeback for a few days, and vanished again (which is starting to worry me a little).
