HK-TF member 口水楓爸爸 has posted some comparison photos of the Hasbro's Reveal The Shield Grapple and Takara's Transformers United Grapple.

The main differences are:
- Black head sculpt for RTS version, yellow head sculpt for TF United version
- Some paint differences at the Robot's hands, as well as side panel in vehicle mode
- RTS version is with rub sign, TF United version is printed Autobot logo

Wow. No cromed hook on the Japanese one. Talk about fail IMO. I could do this with nice mellow yellow paint and a silver sharpie! lol :SMUG:

Wow, tough call here. I was really hoping to see a chromed hook and the wrist paint apps on the United version. Still unsure which version to get considering I do prefer the orange/yellow head and painted faction symbols. They both look really good, if not a little bland, IMO.

Glad I have ordered the Takara version. The yellow head will really set it apart from Inferno, and the extra paint apps on the side of the truck make a big difference. Like the faction symbol too.

Shame about the hook though. I wonder if this is the case for all retail releases, or if the pics were an early stolen toy version.

Indeed. Since when has Grapple had a yellow head?

/sarcasm. My own opinion is that rather than getting all bent about show accurate colors (especially when the difference is kinda small), I just pick whatever looks the best. And the extra black against the yellow looks better to me.

To each his own, I guess.

Ahhh....errmm... yeah... I hadn't forgotten the original toy had a black head.....honest :-?

Aha! Yeah what I meant was... One colour will be right and one wrong, which might be yellow or might be black, depending on the persons opinion...yeah...that's what I meant... I swear

Both figures look really well but the differences are too small to pull me away from the Hasbro version.

I'm really looking forward to Grapple and will probably buy the US release for 2 reasons.

#1 is price, but secondly the 1985 Autobot cars really made so few key cartoon appearances that I actually view their G1 toy appearances as being more "real" than how they looked in Sunbow.

Cool. Surprised by the total lack of chrome on Takara's version, and pleasantly so that the shades of yellow are so similar. Are we sure this is a complete production figure? The general consensus seems to be that the differences are too minor to warrant the high cost of importing. That works for me as I prefer the black head of the Hasbro figure, although I would welcome the silver on the truck mode side panels.

I'll be sticking with the Hasbro version that I should be arriving on my doorstep tomorrow. I think the black head breaks up the yellow nicely.

I like the black head and the rubsign, but I'm picking up a slight difference in the shade used on the toy, and I think the Takara one looks slightly nicer, but definitely not so much so as to inspire me to import it.

Of course, I haven't even been able to find the Hasbro version so far, so...

I honestly prefer the black. Not worth an extra 30 bucks for a yellow head.

I actually like the yellow head (and prefer faction symbols over rub signs), but if they're otherwise basically identical (paint apps & the overall shade of yellow... I thought United was going to be more orangey?), then I might cancel my United preorder and just stick with Hasbro.
