Y'know, X, that could be Peaugh being himself in disliking something. Some of us are actually nice people...

I thought at the beginning that these wings were about the same size as Feral Rex's. The bling doesn't really go with the rest of the figure, as others have said. I wonder if CD is contemplating other matching aspects, like a chromed out replacement sword...

Seriously, why the hell would you puke on a toy unless it had been dunked in sewage? I mean, I bought an SH Figuarts Sailor Mars that turned out to be a bootleg, and the quality was awful, but I sure as hell didn't feel the need to puke on it.

And you say being yourself should be a part of any review, which is true. Peaugh seems to be a pretty chill, laid-back guy. He IS being himself, because he's mature enough not to get angry and up in arms over a toy. You keep moving the goalposts with this issue. You say he always gives ringing positive reviews. Not true. Then you say "Ah, but he never gives a negative review of a 3rd party figure!" which isn't true. Then you say "Ah, but he never gives outright completely negative reviews!" and oh look, that isn't true either. So now you're grasping at straws and going for "Ah, b-but he doesn't get angry with the toys and call them pieces of crap and throw them across the room!" to which I can reply "No, he doesn't, because he isn't a petulant child who gets butthurt over a toy.

Not everyone has your extreme ideas about how you should react to something you don't like.

And honestly? If you think you could do better or you know what makes a good reviewer? Become one yourself. Do toy reviews on YouTube yourself. Until then, either put up or shut up.

When I said “puke on a toy” I meant to verbally puke on it. In other words describe your disgust vividly instead of being politically correct and “nice” about it. I didn’t think you would take the term literally.

Now that we got that out the way, I’ll say this...Maybe Peaugh is just plain nice. Or maybe he is purposely being politically correct on purpose. Either way, none of us no for sure. Only Peaugh himself knows.

But here’s what we do know for sure: Every reviewer with a sponsor conveniently takes the politically correct approach to describing products they don’t like. Not one reviewer with a sponsor goes against the grain and uses extreme insults or swearing in a review. Find me one. I bet you can’t.

But if you start watching amateur unsponsored reviews, out comes the insults, cursing, etc. So is it really that all sponsored reviewers just happen to be nice guys or are there some expectations when accepting a sponsorship and the perks that come with it?

Go figure…

Can you be honest and PC at the same time? Mind you, I'm leaning toward your point in some aspects of this discussion.

I kind of forgotten his name but I'm sure he's a seibertron member (non sponsored btw). He 1st reviewed Kronos iirc last April. He was blunt and straight to the point. Then came Peaugh and Optibotimus reviews.

The 1st guy ( sorry forgot your name but please come forward bro' thanks for saving me a bundle) was the coup de grace for that fig. Optibotimus put the final nail on the coffin when the foot module of his broke.

This is not piling on Peaugh again but his rev was kind of bland.

So X, does a review have to do a "Fatality" ala Mortal Kombat? :lol:

I find it sad that politeness is now considered dishonesty by some people. It's clearly a negative review. To try and spin it any other way is dishonest.

We already have a topic about it, but Rated X just loves to ride his hobby horse. I swear he only comes onto the forum to get mad about Peaugh (and preach about how companies should stick to a scale that...basically doesn't exist). We tolerate him because he hasn't actually started saying that Peaugh and co are conspiring with the Illuminati to give good reviews to toys he doesn't like, yet. (We all know that's the Freemasons).

Seriously though X. These reviewers don't stay composed and calm because they're sponsored. They're sponsored because they stay composed and calm. It's a little thing called professionalism (and, as some have mentioned, because they aren't autistic when it comes to their toys).

Honestly, you should watch more Vangelus reviews. He may not be full on "angry" but he's certainly honest and he does a good job. Peaugh is fairly unopinionated and tends to just show off the figure, how it works, throw in a few of his own thoughts and lets the audience make their own decision (which is a perfectly reasonable approach and one I quite like), whereas Vangelus does a more traditional "review" where he gives his opinion on every aspect of the toy.

Well DM, I guess were gonna have to flat out agree to disagree. I dont know where you come from or what values you have instilled in you, but where I come from we dont bite the hand that feeds us. Free stuff leads to ass kissing and blind loyalty. At the end of the day, you really cant blame the reviewers for protecting their best interests on camera. What they dont keep goes straight to ebay which equals $$$. But if you really believe them and trust their integrity, your gullable in my opinion. More than $32 - because if you buy the sword, you're pretty much expected to buy the wings so the gold chrome doesn't seem out of place...

Jesus, no thanks. Even as someone who thinks Ares could do with a better sword (disclaimer: I own neither Feral Rex nor Ares) I ain't paying £25 for a chromed sword. I'd like to see a new sword for Ares but I'd prefer one that spilt apart into separate weapons ala the MMC Predacons and the original sword (speaking of which, I wonder if the MMC sword is compatible with Ares's hands? If I could get a set of just the MMC weapons to go with Ares I'd be pretty satisfied, provided of course we don't get an "Honour of Ares" set with a better combining sowrd).

i getcha. but 500 in the hole for 5 3P combiner figures, another 32 bucks to truly "complete" him doesnt bother me much.

i agree that the MMC combination sword is badass, its not a must for me. i still think a weapon thats one solid piece trumps the combiner stuff.

and as far as the sword fitting in ares hands, i doubt the ports are compatible but they both have articulated fingers. im sure with some fiddling itll work just fine.
