The show is weak. My son watches it every morning, and the voices are horrible, the animation is lame anime, and the soundtrack blows. Kids love it though, so maybe it's just me getting old.

I like Galaxy force more than I did Cybertron. But the Toys are awesome. I like that the transformations are simple (with the exception of smokescreen's arms) and the 3d trans formers. I was kinda turned off by the cel-shaded TF in energon. I bought alternatores and I thought the transformations were to complex.

good luck, imo, seems like a slim chance for that
i mean, no offense to current animated fans who eagerly await its advent, but i doubt i could take a transformers show seriously when the transformers look so distarted and...hmmm...kiddy? not sure if that's the best word choice, but you get the idea.
I agree with Zemper and Sledge though. The plastic quality is better on cybertron, and they do have some great figures..but classics line makes me want to get all of them. It starts as "this one looks nice" and pretty soon the reviews and pictures hook you and you want all of them.

Watching Megatron go "HAHAHAHAHHAHA" and listen to Kicker whine for 30 minutes (not even mentionning the poor voice acting), no thanks. G1 had the best stories. Animated looks promising. Never cared for Beast Wars or Beast Machines.
Firstly, as someone who has never liked the BW/BM toys, I avoided the cartoonslike the plauge.
This was a bad idea.
BW was surprisingly good (though it starts off rather poorly) and BM is pure awesome on a stick!
Now, the unicron trilogy.
You obviously havnt watched Cybertron at all ahave you? If you had, you'd know Kicker wasnt in it, and that infact it is only classed as the 'Unicron Trilogy' becuase Hasbro thought it'd make sence to include Cybertron in the series.
And the kids arnt *that bad*. No Worse than the kids in Masterforce (which if you watch past the first few episodes, they seem to get a lot better in), and about a kazillion times better than Daniel and Wheelie (esepcilly in Headmasters).

Toy wise RID was the best line.
Show wise Beast Wars was the best line.
Cybertron sucks show wise, and toy wise it's quite good.

hmmm, have to voice a dissenting opinion here on the kids issue.
i have watched the whole Masterforce series and about to complete watching the Cybertron series (9+ episodes to go

i dunno, of the kids Bud seems to suck a lot (too much whining sometimes) and Cody seems a little too smart for his own good (hacking the Atlantis? building/hotwiring a custom Ramble/Scrapmetal?). only saving grace of the three could be Lori, but her "shopper girl" mentality is a big fail. i dunno, maybe because this series was mainly AIMED at kids...

the Junior Headmasters, on the other hand, at least manage to kick arse and save lots of people in the series. they're also much funnier than those Cybertron kids. sure, they play upon many Japanese anime cliches, but overall they're the best bunch of kiddos to appear in any TF cartoon (save G1

plus, they get to pilot their own Transtectors. sure beats the Minicons of the Rad, Carlos and Alexis...
suckiest kids? try the proto-human boy and girl at Beast Wars season 2. garn, if it wasn't for those Cro-Magnons, Dinobot might still have lived...

Cybertron is a weird case of TF line. Many of the toys look nice, but the show being what it was probably makes them less desireable. I know it had that kind of affect on me, cybertron toys just didn't interest me, even if the toys might have been good.
Though, the 5 I own are mostly very nice figures. The show just didn't spark any kind of interest in me to get more of those.

I watched some of Cybertron because the toys were so good. When the TFs were blasting away at each other, I did find myself thinking "This ain't so bad." But then those bloody kids would turn up and annoy the crap out of me. I hate this trend for some snot-nosed brat to be able to do something that a millenia-old robot can't. I know it happened in G1, but I don't remember it being so blatant. At least Chip Chase was a computer expert, and he wasn't nine years old. It just seems that the people who made the Unicron Trilogy were only ever shown one G1 episode, and it was B.O.T.

For anyone who hasn't seen Spotlight: Sledge (and why not?!), my gritty and dark fanfiction piece "Holiday" is posted here.

I've never watched RID, Armada, Energon, Cybertron series to any length of time given that compared to the G1 series no one ever really got shot. If they did they always shrugged it off as invincible. The Decepticons were always incompetent and there was a lack of suspense in terms of how events were going to unfold and who would win. G1 is awesome because because the Autobots didn't always wind, The Decepticons were skilled, and the effects of receiving damage was evident. I won't mention that they were Japanese imports using the same ol' moral lessons, one-;liner jokes etc. etc.
Regarding the Headmaster, Masterforce, and Victory...the Headmasters were way better the others. Masterforce and Victory became super boring the all the reasons I mentioned above. Because of that I lost interest in RID and Armada after watching a few episodes. And that in turn ruined any remote interest in all the subsequent series...including the newest one about to come out in December (I hate the drawing designs).
As a G1er no series will ever replace the original G1 cartoons, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines.
REgarding the toylines...I have to admit when it comes to complexity and articulation the RID toyline is the best. I almost wish I had kept them.

i hear you man. i terribly, terribly hated the discrepancy between the Autobots and Cody. that kid's smarter than Vector Prime or Red Alert, and it disappoints me that the Autobots have to rely on them for solutions sometimes.
Sledge wrote:At least Chip Chase was a computer expert, and he wasn't nine years old.
yeah, and chip at LEAST had to deal with command line programming and ticker-tape output, which was much more realistic for the time (80s). in the Cybertron series, all Cody had was this Pokedex-like thingy and whenever he fidgets with his thingamajig, all sorts of impossible things happen (illusions, answers to complex problems, etc.)
but hey, who the heck am i to complain? i enjoyed the show despite the kid factor. but i must admit if they handled them a little better, the show might have rocked hard.
