Yep, I noticed that too. These pics came too late for me unfortunately. I'd cancelled my preorder sometime ago but was starting to reconsider that after seeing the latest pics. Of course when I went to look on BBTS, all gone, sold out, sorry .

Oh well, I still wasn't completely sold on it (but that alt mode does look great) and wanted to wait for a fully completed/painted version in pics before deciding anyway.

I've personally not used any of them but heard good things.
I think for the chosen prime you don't have to pay until it comes in stock and you can cancel anytime.

I'm still not sure if I'm ging this. I know there's only 1000 made so it'll be limited but I really want to see final product before deciding.

Kronos is no longer listed as sold out on the BBTS pre-order listing page.

Joel might have recently put in another order for this item. Then updated the pre-order sold out page to now available for pre-order.

I wasn't gonna get him thinking Takara would get to Shockwave for the MP line, but given the much debated status of the original IP/figure I decided the chances of that happening were remote so I finally pulled the trigger. My friend's girlfriend had his Quakewave sent to my house because it was a Christmas present for him so not only did I get to check it out in the box for almost a month but I got to check it out as he opened it and, man, I wasn't going to get one efore but seeing it in hand I realized how awesome it is. There's not much a Takara one could do to make a better one. Still, Shockwave > Skyfire.

True, but we have had decent versions of Shockwave over the years (heck, the G1 Shocky is STILL a great fig!) but we have NEVER really had a decent Skyfire.

The G1 toy and show character never matched (for obvious reasons).
The Classics figure was OK, but failed to capture the imposing size of the character, and the alt mode deviated pretty far.
The new Leader figure looks to solve the size issue, but the alt mode still isn't right.

For me, this is a lot like Herc was to Devastator.

Takara could still theoretically do an MP Skyfire (not Jetfire, but SKYFIRE) since Bandai (and in the US, which really isn't relevant in Japan) Harmony Gold own the IP to a completely different character/figure/likeness.

The alt mode and the bot mode for Skyfire from the show never existed in toy form, licensed or otherwise, so Takara/Hasbro would be fully within their rights to create one which is 100% accurate to the show without fear of dealing with any licensing issues or lawsuits from anyone. That was the entire point of him looking so damn different on the show in the first place, because they couldn't make him look like the actual licensed toy since that figure wasn't licensed for distribution in Japan.

That doesn't mean that Takara will do one, but they definitely could if they wanted to.

Yep, that's why it couldn't be licensed in Japan . There was a show in Japan (prior to it making it over to the US) that featured those planes/bots, so Takara could never release Jetfire out there.

I gotta admit the end result looks pretty good. As much as the designer got frustrated with comments, it appears he opened up and started listening to what the fans were saying about the prototypes proportions and made some needed changes. I must admit, he nailed it. I have no interest in MP scale, but if he were to shrink this down to classic leader scale Id be the first to buy it.

Nailed it Arafat! Masterpiece indeed! No way can this be rendered in just a wee leader classics scale.

I hope my supplier can get a hold of this fine piece of art and engineering.

Not every body wants a cabbage patch kid sized figure. For me MP scale crosses the "man doll" borderline. But to each their own. If you want it, why not just pre-order at BBTS ?
