From Floating Cat @TFW

We didn't have instructions, but the backpack needs to be removed for transformation. It literally is a single piece that attaches via a pair of hooked pegs (almost like a key on a hook). From robot mode, you lift it up off the single wide peg on his back. The only thing the backpack can do is have the wings flip back or forward, and it has a set of pegs that fold down to lock the legs to the backpack in jet mode. Two parts for the front of the jet also store in the underside of the backpack.

His transformation is... "quirky". The way his shoulders and arms flip and rotate to transform isn't precise (at least not on the test shot). He does have a gap through the side of his torso like FoC Starscream. He also cannot really be a jet without the backpack, otherwise you just have a robot who is mostly just laying down (think TFA Jetstorm).

I should mention that Kronos is beefy. He's got a lot of heft and weight to him. He feels pretty solid, almost like a lawn dart

The saving graces are definitely the silhouettes he has in both modes. As you saw in Nick's photo, his arms, fingers, feet (with nice heel spurs), and knees all work in unison to do pretty good poses; even wider than shown so far. And then the jet is spot on to the cartoon model. It's just the stuff in the middle (minor or major) that might not be for everyone.

Yeah so it turns out i want this really bad the end result is a beautiful piece :APPLAUSE:

The whole back pack thing doesn't really bother me and not every transformer is perfect in transformation or in either mode so this would be minor issues for me .

Unless Takara get to this guy in the MP line and hit a home run i don't see it getting much better than this imo .

The Chosen Prime

Hello everyone, I was fortunate enough to get a my hands on one of DaCa Toys' Test Shot figures of Kronos today. So, I decided to try to answer as many questions as possible, both in writing and through my less than stellar photography skills.

First things first, THIS IS A TEST SHOT PIECE AND NOT THE FINAL PRODUCT!

Now, on to the good stuff. I must be honest, when I first opened the product it was hard to see past the pantone (paint) imperfections, but as I started to look over the piece and examine the actual structure, I began to quickly appreciate the simple yet G1 Cartoon accurate nature of the piece. The transformation is very straight forward and simple, and it works well (even being a tester with less than perfect fit and finish). The robot mode of this figure is absolutely impressive in any stance, and from any angle! As tall as he is, my fear was that he would look too thin or stretched out, but the proportions look very good to me and I am very pleased with the look of the bot mode. The weight of the piece is fantastic for its size. It is weighted heavier at the bottom (foot and ankle area) to improve stability, which it has plenty of. The ratchets are very good in the hips, knees and shoulders, and it also has lateral ratcheting of about 10-15 degrees in both directions at the knee, which really makes posing him a breeze and allows for some additional stances other figures this large could not achieve.

The hands are very impressive to say the least. They each have 4 points of articulation, and he can make a completely clinched fist with ease, and without it looking too "flat" so to speak. Arm articulation is excellent with the elbows bending up to about a 45 degree angle, and have full range of motion at the shoulder as well. Leg articulation is also excellent, with hinged skirts on the front and sides to allow excellent range of motion in the legs.

The head is obviously darker on this piece than the production one, but honestly it doesn’t look that bad to me as it is, and I wouldn’t mind it staying this way, though I won’t mind it a shade or two lighter either.

As you can see in the photos below, the split cockpit of this tester does not have the peg the production model will have. So, there is more separation on this than should be on the production unit. That should be much more visually appealing than this one.

Die Cast, Die Cast, Die Cast!!! The figure has die case parts throughout it. The base of the foot is made of a very hearty piece, the main structure of the waist is also die cast which allows the legs to slide apart for transformation very nicely. The chest has a die cast inner skeleton that extends up the area around the neck to add stability and strength to the nose piece in Alt mode as the nose piece flips up into a "U" shaped place for the nose to lock into, to ensure that over time, the piece will not become "floppy" in this area.

There is one part of the transformation I do not care for and it involves the two chest pieces that surround the cockpit in Bot mode. These two pieces have several locking points in bot mode and as they are unlocked, these two pieces kind of flop around until they are locked into place in alt mode. I do understand the need for them to do what they do, but it just doesn’t feel good is all. They lock together very securely in both modes, which is obviously the most important part, but I want to share all aspects of the figure, good and bad from my perspective.

My overall impression of this piece is it fills a much needed void in the market and though it is not perfect, it is very impressive. And for the price point this piece, it is a bargain and will stand very proudly on my shelf as a fantastic representation of G1 Cartoon Skyfire! I am sure I have missed several things as I am currently entertaining my 3 year as I write this, but I wanted to get it up tonight for you guys. I will post more photos tomorrow to show the posability and articulation. Until then, everyone have a good night and I hope you enjoy the mini written review of this TESTER.

Last but not least, thank you to DaCa Toys for letting me get an early peek as this very impressive figure

It looks good. I'm impressed. Better than the other one with the sad face that makes you sad by looking at it.

As for The Chosen Prime, you should definitely shop there. Excellent service, excellent prices.

There was never anything wrong with this figure, shame about all the negativity. So the back pack comes off so the stuff can move around. If the pack had a hinge on it so it stayed attached would that make it better? Since the pack doesn't change at all from bot to plane I don't see any other options...

You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time...

Really, like being in politics, this probably requires a fairly thick skin. Being constantly criticized and complained at is hard on the ego. Still, this was a fantastic figure. I hope he does others. :D

What he needed to do is get someone else to filter out those comments for him. To basically look at the boards and report on feedback instead of doing that himself. As the designer he's way, way to close tot he project. It's tough not to take some comments personally.

I think it looks amazing personally. It doesn't bother me that the pack comes off. I don't really feel like that is a parts former thing. To me, parts-forming is when things disassemble and are reassembled in a different configuration. Like G1 Omega. How many figures we like have at least one part we remove for ease of transformation even though it can be, in theory, left attached? Such as the intake manifolds on MP seekers. I guess this pack could have a hinge to keep it "attached" but I'm betting it would just become one of those parts we just get out of our way for ease of operation. Like I said before, nothing about the pack itself changes nor should it. Its the same in both modes.

As far as appearance and cartoon accuracy, its nearly perfect. And it sounds like it is going to be very sturdy. So as a fan I really couldn't be happier.

Compared to the other Skyfire offering, since I prefer MP scale, this one is superior. Not to mention the craftsmanship appears more durable in general. Die cast parts are a win IMO, esp where they have placed them. That said, I will probably get both since obviously this is my favorite character. Certainly interested in seeing how the other handled the pack. They jumped on the whole parts former hoopla, but if it just slides over or stay attached via hinge I'm not seeing a huge difference.

It's a shame about Arafat's attitude now, but in no way can I blame him for feeling that way. A lot of those "other" comments are downright trollish, even if they weren't meant to be. I hope he can at least feel successful due to the sell through of this first Daca Toys' product and I look forward to seeing more.

Regarding Kronos, we've been privy to seeing various tweaks in the product and how things could have gone. In reality, there's only so much time one can spend in development to get things right. I applaud Arafat for getting this far, and it will show because my hard earned $USD has enabled me to pre-order one of these guys. I'm very anxious to get Kronos in hand and enjoy the inner workings on this colossus, and to get some good poses between him and MP Starscream. :KREMZEEK:

While I don't like the sculpt on this toy. I'll have to admit it looks like a very strong and durable toy. This toy looks like it has much stronger, superior joints than that MF-01 SkyGuardian toy has.
