Heh-heh...I was just thinking about this last night while playing with my Classics Grimlock.
Yeah, I think the Dino's would actually suit this design style. I'd love Devastator too so long as they don't give him one of these uglier-than-sin Predicon-style bug faces.
You know, come to think of it it wouldn't surprise me at all if the sequals start evolving the designs to match up more with classic TF iconography, or at the least the more human-like faces etc.

I couldn't care less about the Dinobots or the Constructicons. I personally don't like G1 at all. the designs are old and boring. now there are G1ers, and I don't mean any offense to them. just saying my opinion.
my personal choices for new transformers for a sequel would be as follows:
Autobots: HotShot(not Hot Rod or Rodimus Prime,) Ultra Magnus, Jetfire/Wing Saber, Prowl, Metroplex, and Cliffjumper
Decepticons: Galvatron, Scourge, Sideways, Menasor, Thundercracker, and Soundwave.
most of these have appeared in series more recently, and as a 90's kid, I would love seing them

Looking into the future:
M. Bay
"You see, we thought the idea of big transforming dinosaurs was a little silly- I mean, why would they need to transform into dinosaurs when they could be GM vehicles? Then Steven had this idea that they could scan Theme park rides, like the Shrek 4 roller coaster. Then Grimlock and his pals could turn into those lovable Dreamworks characters..."
S. Speilberg
"We didn't really like the constructicons after our first couple meetings, so we renamed them Skylynx, Fortress Maximus, Trypticon, Kup, Wheelie, and David Bowie. Then we re-imagined them as human sized robots that turn into Tonka Trucks. They will not combine. There's no point."
Does anyone think some of the coolest things about Transformers will actually make it to the screen at this stage? Look at what we have so far ):
edit:
And when the script leaks, we discover that all of them die at the end of the film, so none of them (or the borrowed names) can be used again.

I know it may sound kinda weak but this is just a plotline on how the dinos and the constructicons could be incorporated in a new movie, of course there would be other plotlines and a REAL reason why Megs would be tryin again to destroy the earth
someone else can come with those ideas
lol
The dinos could be a rebellious group of autobots who unhappy with the way cybertron is bein run decide to leave millions of years ago (we'll need a flashback sequence
). They crash on prehistoric earth and naturally have to scan dinosaurs to disguise themselves. Unfortunately the asteroid that wipes out the dinosaurs hits earth though the dinos are able to survive (bein robot dinos would make them a trifle more sturdy) but they wind up gettin buried in rubble.
To the present an archelogical dig winds up uncoverin the dinobots, nd after bein woken up after a long sleep anyone would be cranky so they go on a rampage. Optimus and the autobots come back (with a brand new heavy squad to handle the rebellious dinos) and try to bring the dinos under control, but with their arrogant rebellious leader who isnt too fond of how Op handled things on cybertron, this is a trifle difficult.
Meanwhile Megatron, unhappy with his defeat on Earth has come up with a new technology to fuse transformers together. He reformats the battered Bonecrusher and a group of other decepticons (who make up the Constructicons) giving them the ability to form the gestalt Devestator. When the autobots find out and try to fight Devestator they get their asses trounced so Op is forced to try and forge a shaky alliance with Grimlock and convince him he needs to try and save the day. Enter big Dinobot vs Devestator fight... which we all wanna see!

the only thing i see wrong with that is them scanning the dinos. they wont look like robots as they do in g1. if they scanned them back then they would look like an actual dinosaur which dusnt go with the robot part.

They wouldnt transform into flesh and blood dinos though, theyd be metal dinosaurs because thats what theyre made of. When they scan something to emulate they dont TURN into that item, they just adapt their bodies to look like it. After all scorponok in the movie scanned a scorpion and he doesnt turn into a flesh and blood scorpion.

SWEET! Seeing Devestator on the big screen would RAWK!
As far as the Dinobots, hells yeah. Hopefully they do Grimlock and the Dinobots as they started to in the G1 cartoon, big, angry, and resents anything weaker than them. I could just see him and Prime butting heads through out the movie.
One thing about the Dinos though. I wonder if they'll go with robotic looking dino modes, or organic, Beast Wars looki' dino modes?

The Dinobots could have followed Megatron to Earth and ended up frozen along with him. They could even weave in a little current events and have polar ice caps melting be the reason the Dinobots get thawed. Millions of years ago, they scanned dinosaurs to blend in and combat Megatron, thinking that Dinosaurs were the dominant species and they needed to fit in...
A) Keep the dinobots as metallic dinosaurs.
B) Don't make them stupid. Make them short-winded and tough. You know, the type that only grunt out what's needed to be said, but what they say is important. Make them like the Dreamwave version and I'd be happy. They weren't stupid in Dreamwave, just brutish. Don't make them like IDW's Dinobots, though. It really ruined it for me when they started talking like any other Transformer. It killed their most distinctive personality trait.
C) Don't make the Dinobots combine. Have them wipe the floor with Devastator without combining just like in the cartoon.
D) I give this idea a thumbs-up approval. Could you imagine how much destruction Bay could produce with a battle between the Autobots' heavy hitters and a giant robot specifically named Devastator?
E) Also include some of the other Autobot bruisers — Sunstreaker and Sideswipe, Trailbreaker, Brawn, and Springer would all be nice candidates. Throw in some more seekers and maybe Motormaster and Onslaught to augment the Decepticons' side.

I wonder how ugly an alien the Dinobot heads would be?
Also the 2nd movie would also need to be set on Earth if the Dinobots are to keep their name. Is there enough reason to have the 2nd movie based on Earth?

I personally wouldn't care if the Dinobots were dinosaurs or not, as long as they're then called "Dynobots". I think it would be cool if they landed near a military warehouse for top secret war vehicles. That way, they could be super-advanced tanks and such. I could see Snarl as something along the lines of Batman Begin's Batmobile. Also, Devastator would look really cool if he formed lying down, and then pushed himself up. No to combining Dinobots, though.

devastator is a must. it would be so cool with him in it having them combine. just imagine the effects that would take to make that look absolutely amazing! and it would look crazy when they combine.
i agree with the thought of having the dinobots as vehicles and not dinosaurs. but that wouldnt necessarily mean they are dinobots unless they have the names.

Yeah, I was thinking, if they did go with the buried prehistoric idea, something else to think about is unlike the "modern" Autobots, the dinobots wouldn't have any sort of electrical information source(internet) to access to to figure out what was going on on Earth or to even guesstimate how they should conduct themselves, so they would know virtually nothing about their surroundings. Given that, they probably would go with the "survival of the fittest" method of chosing alt modes, & figure the local dinos would be too stupid to tell the difference between themselves & the robots.
Any way you look at it, though, the Dinobots are not practical in any way, but for destruction's sake, if nothing else, they would be pretty damn fun to watch.

Psh.
Dinobots superior. Constructicons inferior.
End of story.
Unless you've seen SOS Wheeljack by Dr. Smoov...in which case, the Dinobots suck, haha.

While they were neet in the comics as war-machines, I think what makes the "Dino-bots" is that they're big monster fire breathing dinosaurs. Their characters were fun because they turned into dinosaurs, and had such great personalities. If Grimlock just turns into a tank, he's just not as cool.
This is a concept I just can't see this current transformer world supporting in a meaningful or faithful way. This is why I would have liked a less gung-ho and more fantastic take on everything, so we could have cool giant dinosaur robots later on.
I really hope a sequel to this film never gets made- much like the doomed American Godzilla film, aka GINO. There's just so much wrong with both of these films that they don't counter the rights.

I really don't like the idea of either one being in the second or third part of the trilogy, but if they must...here's how I'd do it:
Dinobots:
Starscream pulls another Bruticus plan and builds his own super robots in the form of Grimlock and crew and Prime and company not only have to save the planet, but in a cruel twist of fate for Starscream, the Allspark gave them the wrong sparks, which gives Prime the upper hand, and new warriors. (Though terribly cheesy...ugh.)
Constructicons:
Same Bruticus idea, but this actually works for Starscream (or whoever) and the Autobots having learned of the master plan (creating a team that combines into one giant mech of death) have to stop them from completing it. Of course, it never works like that, and in the very end of the movie is one giant melee as they smash the living **** out of each other trying to stop Devastator from leveling the city. (and the world)
^ terribly cheesy, though not as bad as the Dinobots. I'm just not sure how you'd do the Dinos correctly. They just don't seem to be movie material.
