Though, he isn't a "Prime" (yet), but Optimus did formally resign from his position of Autobot Leader, which Bumblebee was (to his own surprise) then elected into.

I only wish they'd given him a new form as a leader

You do realized that "Prime" does not always equal "Autobot Leader", right? That's something that's only been established in recent fiction (and retroactively in older fiction).cotss2012 wrote:Leader of the Autobots, but not a Prime? What are those guys smoking, and where can I get some?

For the most part, "Prime" has equaled "Matrix Bearer" but not always "Autobot Leader".

Right, b/c Alpha Trion was not a Prime either. Correct?

Up until recently, he was not known to have been a Prime. Nowadays, Hasbro has declared him as being one of the Thirteen, which now makes him a (former?) Prime. Or at least, his Aligned Continuity version is.

Yeah, the way i see it, there's at least two different kinds of Primes. There's the leadership title (like Optimus and Rodimus), and there's the sacred title (like the Thirteen). Of course, each series seems to define the Prime title in their own ways, but the meaning of the Prime rank held by the Thirteen is a multiversal definition that doesn't exactly correlate to the meaning of the Prime rank held by the secular Primes of the various series.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:A can of worms has just been opened.vectorA3 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:You do realized that "Prime" does not always equal "Autobot Leader", right? true, but I would say the the use and definition of "Prime" is different in this case.
In AT's case, its used more like that of family or lineage. If I understand the concept, all the original 13 are considered "Primes" even if they dont have the word as part names and even if they werent leaders of any sort.

I think an easier way to see it would be that the Prime rank held by the Thirteen is a religious one, while the Prime rank held by typical leaders is a secular one.sto_vo_kor_2000 wrote:they like to re-defined words/terms
