But it's not like it was a stand alone movie. It was part of the TV show. Like Sly said, the live action ones are live action adaptations.

Either way, TF3 looks like it will definitely surpass RoTF in the story department, if not in the action and SFX side. But the 1st movie was really good on both, so it'll be hard to improve on it. Hopefully Shockwave and the new characters were built up well.

I'm happy to see Corey Burton come back to do Shockwave's voice. I was pleasantly surprised to hear him voicing Shockwave in Transformers Animated, so this will be a plus too.

The first movie was mediocre and the second movie just plain bad. I HOPE they can at least match up to the first 2 but I am very much hoping that it greatly SURPASSES the first 2.

Will it match the first one? Probably not; that movie was all kinds of awesome. I'll always have a soft spot for it.

I am really nervous about it. No matter how many people hate ROTF, I still love it. Maybe TF3 will have a better story and all, but I never really cared about story. There isn't anything in the world that I give a damn about. Story bores me. Because I have no intrests in anything. And I want TF3 to have a good story and all, but all the action and irony of ROTF.

Agreed
1st movie was awesome. The Second sucked. I only watched it once and didnt buy it...it was that bad IMHO. As a huge fan that says allot.
#3 HAS to be better.

hmmm well, i never understood the people who loved the first movie and hated the second... to me they are all much of a muchness, 1,2 eh it all came down to giant robots running into each other and exploding (a goodthing) interspersed with gibbering humans (not so good thing)...
will 3 be any betteror worse?
i think that is super subjective and building up you expectations before seeing it can (and usually does) lead to disapointment. i expected nothing from ROTF and i found it highly entertaining, on top of that i got a very cool ravage toy (or two) a great interpritation of soundwave. the reedman bot and its componant bb bots (oh god reedman was so cool i wanted to scream when i saw it for the first time). as well as a cool new version of megs...
these movies are made for entertainment, not philosophical/religeous life changing experiences...
will 3 have more giant robots? yes
will 3 have more pointless human drivvel? of course
will 3 be entertaining? oh good lord yes. bay may have his faults but he knows how to entertain.
but more importantly, will it inspire tons of cool new toys?
it definately will. so good or bad im glad 3 is coming out, the toylines are enough for me.

The problem is, everyone forgets that entertainment is purely subjective. There are people who have commented that these are boring because they lack deeper content, and are all action with no story.
As for whether this will match the first 2: Yes. If you liked the first two, you'll probably like this, If you hated them, you'll undoubtedly hate this. Nothing about them will be better or worse than the last two.

Corey Burton rejected the invitation to voice Shockwave in DOTM. He said that his part was too small for him. What an ass.
