Enamels vs. Acrylics: Their War. Our World.

Okay, guys. Here it is: The definitive battlefield for the ages-old war between opposing factions of paint. We all have our preference (save, of course, for those folks just getting started out). And we all know our side is superior. So here's the question: To which side do you ally yourself? Why should it be declared the one true material for repainting Transformers? On this day, one shall stand and one shall fall. You decide.

I use water-based but I wouldn't say my view is superior. The reason I use them is that I kept finding enamels drying out even though they were sealed. Once they start to thicken I couldn't thin them properly. And they're much harder to get off the brush. I just find water-based easier all round. Trouble with water-based is the finish is very fragile and must be handled with care before the varnish is added.

I have to agree with Myk on the enamel having a tendency to dry out while being sealed up titgh.I have to purchase paints alot more often since I don't have as much time to customize as I used to..I like the water based for quicl projects that I know won't be handled too much but when it comes to big projects like My 07 movie ratchet I had to go with enamels.. Both have pros and cons. If you ask some of the more well known custo's like FrenzyRumble and Jin Saotome they'll say pretty much the same..Even though i think Frenzy swears by enamels..

I've been using acrylics for more than 10 years of customizing. In the beginning I had issues with enamels either not drying or not adhering (I forget which) to certain plastic types. Plus, I get acrylics for waay cheaper.
