One of the things I really enjoy about getting G1 transformers, or Reprolabels kits for my old beat up G1's.... is methodically applying the stickers. The figures start out so bland... and slowly but surely come to life as I carefully place their stickers. Really cool

That too. Applying the labels on your 'bot back then was also quite enjoyable. Sure modern manufacturing techniques have all but done away with label placement but certain japanese toys still (MP seekers a fine example) still do it and well I still miss that experience from our latest TFs.

That's true. I also miss the sheer number of pieces G1 'Formers had. Christmas morning opening Omega Supreme and having roughly 50 pieces scattered about as I try to transform him for the first time; you just don't get the same feeling with modern toys.
Mind you, it does suck 20 years later scouring eBay and other sites for those one or two parts you just can't find (I'm looking at you, Monstructor!)

I only enjoy placing stickers and having stickers on the older toys though. People have repro label sets, or conversion kits made for other figures and they just don't look right. The aesthetic is just wrong, the paint app detail work just clashes with the sticker detail work. Hopefully my custom painting skills develop and I can just add the detail I want with paint
Omega supreme was outrageous for stickers, most of them silly. But man Predaking was the worst. Especially because I wanted them to be perfect.
Also my TRU Perceptor and insecticon's stickers are already peeling in places where they crossed Mold parting lines or corners. I had to do some surgery last night to repair all that and prevent future peeling.
