Of course there's the age old concern about child safety issues (even with a disclaimer, a mass retail release is a Pandora's Box of litigation). However, for as long as FansProject has been releasing these unofficial products that homage licensed characters, I wonder if Hasbro is indirectly involved. Yeah its total conspiracy theory here, but factory access, talent level, engineering, and not creating original characters makes me ponder. Grain of salt, HasTak loyalists. In any case, I have no doubt that FansProject has earned its fanbase. No other 3rd party company has a KO version of its releases. There's no doubt in my mind that I would at least consider any of these from the Causality line... the name just implies the kind of Transformers story that the older generations would eat up. Smear the lines between good and evil - treat each spark with deep character and motivation. We all love the war aspect, but adventure has been lacking. Whoa... talk about tangents - my bad.

Knowing FP, we should be getting a teaser of the product they are going to run parallel with this one.

I don't know what this is... but since its from FP, I'll probably buy it.

I expect these will cost around the $30 mark since they won't come with the combiner kibble.
Man this stuff is interesting and from what we can see here totally badass.
Now I won't feel bad for not having a second set of the Explorer and Munitioner.

So this won't be a combiner set? That kind of sucks. I want to see what the others look like.

To be honest, I'm tired of seeing repaints. I want to see more original molds out there. Am I wrong for that?

Well, two out of the 5 are going to be repaints, which is a pretty decent ratio when you compare FP to HasTak.

I don't blame them at all for making repaints from their molds. They have to get the most bang out of their investment buck after all. However, I'm just not into any of their repaints myself.

I think there is a chance.

First off, two of the five molds are repaints of combiner limbs. One would expect, then that this is a combiner.

Secondly, it's a Crossfire side story. With Crossfire being their designation for combiner upgrades, I would expect this also to be a combiner set. Given the speculation based on the parts and colors, a representation of Battle Gaia seems to be plausible.


On the topic of repaints, I would then expect the three new figures to be repainted down the road.

On the topic of Battle Gaia - let's assume for the moment that this is a not-Battle Gaia. If three of the figures are new, and the original Battle Gaia was a repaint of Bruticus, then would it not stand to reason that the remaining three figures would be new FansProject representations of Onslaught, Vortex, and Brawl? Just a thought.

See, that's what I thought too when I saw the line up being tagged Crossfire... I hope it is a combiner set.....

Actually it's a bit of a misnomer. Crossfire is the term they use for designs that are not from their main designer, who dubbed himself Parallax some time ago and decided to keep the name. Crossfire is designs created by others who go to FansProject for their expertise in getting the design to work, then to produce it. The fact its been combiners thus far may indicate that it's the same "other" designer, or different designers with similar end goals, which would explain why the execution on Superion and Bruticus were so different.

At least that's how it was explained to me by someone claiming to be "in the know" on these things. I could just be barking up the wrong tree here.

I've heard pretty much the same, but it would also make sense to have a naming system to keep things in categories and easier to identify.

Just saying...

You know, if you lower the contrast of the image, CA-03 becomes much more visible on a high-res monitor. Looks like the gray test shot they usually do with their stuff. Nice claws.

Also, I haven't seen it mentioned here in this thread specifically, but the art for Warcry/Growl clearly has a visor versus Munitioner/Swindle's eyes. We may be in for a different head on both figures.

Could the last 3 possibly be Pre-Earth Cybertronian Insecticons similar to what was done here?

That's my thinking too. The shilouettes seem to match fairly well.

Now I'm really interested to see what they will be. This could make up for the fact if they are not a combiner set.....

I suggested Insecticons before, but yes, Nonsecticons would be even better (then give me pre-beast mode Razorclaw, Divebomb, Rampage, Tantrum and Headstrong somewhere down the line for extra yummy!)

Seibertronian Dune Echo has done some investigating into FansProject Causality 2011 figures. By lowering the contrast on the image FansProject released, you can now more clearly see CA-03. Who is he? Is he based on an existing character or is he completely new. Keep up the speculation! Great forensics work, Dune Echo!

I really like what they are doing here. I will also say that I have the same feeling that Blurrz does. We already know TFX - 03 is coming out, and this "side story" of theres is a good way to be fresh and original. I get a construction feel out of the remaining three but there could be enough remoulding done to these that when they are released they don't really look like any of the Constructicons.

I was looking on FPs site last night for an update, but they do that far and few between. I had a feeling the 3rd member had some claws...

I can't wait to see more of 4 & 5 too. 4 gives me a spider tank feel.
