Her design doesn't seem condusive to the 'hind quarters and tail become cumbersome legs' design of most of the others, it actually seems elegant and restrained in design, I like it a lot, might get their fem-dinobots, could always use more hyper-poseable fembots :-?

This was kind of my thought too. You know, with all the Grimlock's on my shelf with their dino heads hanging off their backs haha.

Anyway, I like the looks of this (more fembots is always good) but I think she could really do with some red to tie her in with the rest of the Dinobots. I don't know if this is finished but the large amount of gunmetal looks odd.

Still, regardless of which Dinobots I go with (leaning towards Planet X at the moment) I'll probably pick her up to go with them. Every king needs a queen after all.

So nobody's talking about their Grimlock? Or are we all just sick of Dinobots now?

Just got the standard issue Grimmy (no throne, no crown, no extra guy) the other day. I gotta say .... I really like him so far! Okay, his look is somewhat divisive, but that's par the course for Fansprojects.

I heard that he came with chrome and was worried about that. I deliberately went with the no chrome version because I wanted consistency in my dinos. Was wrong there. D'oh! I also heard that the dino rider couldn't ride him, but this is also not true. Although you absolutely need the cannons on his back - the little guy holds onto them and crouches on the tail to ride Grimmy. On the one hand, it's kind of weak since Sludge had a complete compartment for the rider. On the other hand I dislike the rider aspect, so I'm glad they didn't compromise the figure for it.

It isn't perfect, though. He can't hold his double barrelled gun very well. (seriously, what happened? Why can't FP figure that part out?) Also his eyes are red while the other dinos are blue .... why? He also can't hold his sword properly because of the spike right behind the hand. The hilt prevents it from being wielded with the edge facing his opponent. Lastly, the dino mouth can't close properly.

Still I'm glad I got him and the regular version at that. The throne is cool, but it'd be going in the parts box anyway. Just like his "arms micron" will.

edit: Broke out the other FP dinos and saw I was wrong about the no chrome. Oh, well.

Slag has the same issue with the sword having to be held wit hthe flat of the blade forwards. Nice hilt designs, but makes trouble holding the sword.

I didn't go for the FP Grimlock, I got Toyworld's FOC Grimmy. I think he blends in with the FP Dino's really nicely. I'm just patiently waiting for Snarl to come along so I can finish the group. Whenever that may be.

Did you mean the Planet X FoC version? I believe ToyWorld's version was a combiner.

I got the version with the throne. (The Game of Thrones look was too much for me to pass up.) And yeah, I agree with Gauntlet's assessment. The transformation was typical FP nearly poking holes in my fingers. I'll see if I can snap a few pics soon. I'm getting ready to pack away my TF collection for a move, but I want to take pics of my stuff before putting them all into storage so we can show the house next year.

A note on the transformation:

The FP Dinos are refreshingly simple. Their Stunticons are, I think, needlessly complex and it takes some of the fun away. Transforming their Grimmy, though? Not bad at all. But, yeah, pointy.

Also, I kinda want the Planet X Dinos too. I already have Swoop. But I have so many dinobots now. It's weird I can say that after the long drought of classicverse dinos.

Oh, here's a protip to help for transforming him. The flaps that cover his head are in there wicked tight and, even with a lot of pressure, it was hard to get them out that first time. I used my trusty letter opener (a must for many transofrers) and just fit the tip in that slot and gave it a simple twist. It came right out.

Aye, planet x one. Vulcan. I Thought about the fp one, but I just wasnt feeling him aestheticly. The shoulders are oversized, the chest is strangely blank with that big panel and his trex mode looks ill proportion. Id grab him if he wasnt 3rd party prices.

Yeah, I think they could have gone just a bit smaller on the bot shoulders/arms. In T-Rex mode, he looks a bit too much like a particular green dinosaur toy (I believe I've posted this before, so my apologies if so)

That said, I do really like him. I wish he looked better in dino mode because I want to display my "Classics" dinos in that mode. But, then again, he looks badass sitting on his throne.

I went with the throne to have a place to store a bunch of the weapons. And I like the look. It just takes up a lot of shelf space...

[Edit] I was just fiddling with Grimlock and I can make that Toy Story pose. I need to get my photo booth set up....

So, at TFNation, there was the two Dinogirls on display. They look fine if you want transforming robots. A bit on the thin and dainty side though. Lots of accessories. And their dino heads don't have to be those shoulder pads, you can have the head hanging down their back Dinobot style.

But what got me excited was a black prototype of Snarl in robot mode. Oh my word that thing looked gorgeous. He is definately coming! Finally, physical proof we will get Snarl!

I took some pics of the snarl. I'll upload them.... at some point when my phone isn't acting up.

Hm. While they're tempting I think these will go on the back burner. Basically there's just too much I want right now before grabbing 100% unofficial characters based off the Dinos. Although they do look cool, I'll give 'em that.

Kapow have confirmed the twins will be in stock next week. Yey! I wasn't going to bother with them in a two pack, but if they are seperate, then I'll pick up Comera. A raptor fits the Dinobots much more than the other dino. And I shall call her Slash to keep with the Dinobot naming convention of S. Plus, AOE raptor was called that. Unless someone has a better name suggestion for her?
