Well, I guess I'd have to say Devastator, because not only is he the first, he's only one I have complete.

With Devastator, the idea of a combinder was really cool... but by the time you got to Computron and the like, there were so many combinder teams the whole combinder idea became really stale. I remember when I first saw Devastator in the cartoon, I was like "holy crap, that's the coolest thing I've ever seen!" but by the time we got Defensor, it was like "meh, here's another combinder".

Still, I do like Menasor and Bruticus, but that's about it as far as combinders go. The Autobot combinders, the Terroncons, Monstructor and the Seacons are really kind forgettable imo.

What a serious lack of love in this thread for Monstrucator. Two people! Everyone else has to go for the big guys. Maybe you're all compensating for something? :P

If anyone actually owned Monstructor it might be a different story. I'd like to have more than Wildfly but I don't. The parts are simply too pricey in general. Out of the combiners I own,
G1/
Devastator
Abominus
Predaking
RID/
Railracer
Energon/
Super Max
Construct Max
Brut Max
Universe/
Micro Dev
Micro Superion
Micro Defensor
Micro Railracer
Build team Dev repaint
Classics/
Energon repaint
my favorite is Devestator, simply because he is the same one I had as a child and recieved from my grandparents in the giftset for Christmas years back. I absolutely love the Micro combiners too. I actually had Railracer for about a week till I had to return him since he somehow got singed (not my doing). He's pretty darn cool. Out of the G1 guys though, playwise, Abominus is a very cool figure with some great articulation. Mine just needs Reprolabels.

Predaking, hands down. If we're talking Scramble City Gesalts, I'll say Computron. Dig the futuristic alt modes.

Really? Guess I got lucky with mine then as I was able to find all the right figures and pieces with very little hassle.

Hands down, G1 Devastator for me. All the others are cheap knock offs and wannabes. Devastator would kick all their asses like this : :HEADHURTS:

I wasn't really into construction vechicles when I was a kid, I was more into the military stuff. But for some reason Devastator was always my favorite Gestalt. Next up would be Superion and Bruiticus.

If they did, then Transformers copied Voltron :P

I had to look up Monstructor in the galleries. How could I forget the combiner that always gives you the finger

I have to go with g1 Bruticus, but that's because he was the first one I bought as a kid. G1 Devastator is definitely up there, especially because it required 6 'bots to complete. (I never had the problem with falling apart. My Devastator seems to be quite tight and can take quite a bit of punishment before any part disassembles.)

Of the newer batch, I have to go with Superion Maximus. I think in plane mode they look spectacular. However, a nod needs to go to Energon Bruticus (Maximus?) for having the copters that can produce a hand with four fingers and a thumb.

Speaking of combiners I found a seller on ebay that appears to be selling Chinese KO's of the combiners for about $10.

http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-BOX-TRANSFORMERS-CHINA-G1-REISSUE-DEVASTATOR-6IN1_W0QQitemZ290099182071QQihZ019QQcategoryZ4696QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

They list Devastator, Aerialbots, Protectobots, Menasor, Combaticons, Abominus, Aircraft Carrier, Trainbots. Plus they also have G1 Reissue Fortress (their exact words not mine :P ).

Well they look nice,

Hey isn't the Aircraft Carrier Package, Blitzwing and Broadside? with a couple more thrown into the mix???

I also like the Fortress Maximus below the combiners.

Yup. I bought this exact set a few years ago at Fleet Farm. Broadside all but fell apart. Blitzwing is okay as I didn't have a G1 at the time, but is still rather chincy (sp?). The other 2? I have no idea where they are from. They are utter pieces of *bleep*!

I also like the Fortress Maximus below the combiners.

I also got a Computron more recently, also at Fleet Farm (I don't know what they are doing with cheap knock-offs around X-mas). If Fortress Maximus is of the same quality, I won't touch him. Computron sits untouched on a shelf for if I touch him, he falls over and comes apart in pieces. And not necessarily where he should come apart.

Well if you like Monstructor, you have to like Dinoking better...the colors are much better and more uniform looking. And the shells of the bots actually look like something other than monstrous blobs of plastic (said with the utmost affection got my Monstructor's shells).

I can't believe that Liokaiser has not been mentioned. He a very nice combiner with a different type of combination method than most.

Defensor has always been my favorite, then Predaking, but I really like all the G1 combiners except Road Caesar, he's a bit too saddle sore looking for me.

Defensor is still the only G1 gestalt that actually did not have the head needing to be attached somehow (well maybe Raiden, I don't own him, but I do have a KO I have not examined in awhile).

from G1 it would be:
• Defensor
• Computron
• Bruticus

From modern lines:
• RID Railracer
• Energon Bruticus Maximus
• Magnaboss
• Energon Perceptor

Predaking is the only one I had as a kid. I now have mini KOs of Devastator and Bruticus which both looks fairly good.
I just had a look at Rail Racer's gallery and he looks pretty cool.
I always liked the stunticons, but sadly all the KOs of Menasor seem to have two technobots swapped in so I haven't bought one.
Does the superlink pants-thing count as gestalts?

My vote has to go to Predaking.

No RiD Omega Prime doesn't count because wearing your brother as a trench coat is just plain creepy. Nor does Rocket Pants Prime (Jetfire) from Armada because they're still just Optimus + whoever happens to be in the room while he has crazy glue.

So, no Hotshot/Red Alert/Rodimus/Ironhide/Jetfire/others that I do not have?

I just got Classics Devastator yesterday and I didn't notice it was using double molds unitl I had half of it cut out of the wireties (nailclipper work wonderslike never before!) And neithe of the cranes want to connect as legs. Seriously I was about to breakout the glue when it finally snapped in and stayed. So it has my vote for worst combiner I've ever owned.

Monstructor all the way, boy!

He has that look that one gets the first time that... well someone you are attracted to pays close attention to you, even gets close enough to touch you, just like the fine young lady in the pic.

What is it with devestator that everyone loves. I mean I think he is cool and all. after all he started the whole combiner thing. I really do hope the continue the classics after the movie toys have run there course and give us a really devestator with all six vehicle and some leg and arm extentions so that we can pose him.

Thanks alot, guys. As if I didn't want enough Transformers already, now you guys make me want some of the coolest (and most expensive) ones out there.

You guys suck.

J/K. LOL...

It's not a Transformer, but I love Voltron. Always have. And the first couple Power Ranger Mega Zords. If I had a couple grand, I'd love to start enjoying the Gestalts. I still can't find Classics Devastator... :(
