Firepower for Weapon Transforming Robots

Does Firepower affect how effective are robots that transform into weapons ? I mean, a Weapon can strafe, but is it better to have more firepower for that ?

Weapon:
Photon Blaster
Firepower is the feeder stat for Strafe, just like Speed is for Avoid. The more Firepower you have, the better your Strafe is. Not sure how it works exactly, but that's the general idea.
