Anyway, I'm definatly picking this up, just wondering when they start mass producing hordes of Sharkitcons cheaply, :)

Yeah Hasbro doesnt do anything for collectors

except distribute Transformers all around the world at convenient retail locations so we can all buy them.

Fund and endorse comic books, cartoons, movies and advertising for transformers so the franchise stays alive.

Provides the vast majority of the concept work and character creation for the Transformers brand

Sponsors Botcon, the world's largest gathering of Transformer fans and dealers.

Sponsors Fun Publications so we can have cool Botcon and Collector's club exclusives.

Allows companies like Impossible toys to produce very similiar versions of characters Hasbro owns and sell them for profit. Allowing collectors to have access to characters that Hasbro would deem unprofitable.

And finally, sell us Transforming robots (two toys in one) at about the same price as most action figures which just stand there doing nothing.

Wow, what a lazy, whiney company

Too bad this is not made by Takara. Oh and the only Quint before this was from Energon by Hasbro, and it was Habro, not Takara that gave us an anime MP SS for a decent price.

And ofcourse, all the good stuff Sid brought up.

Hasbro bashing is just so '90s.

Takara only directly markets molds to the Japanese market. Ask any online retailer in North America, once they receive Takara imports, takara completely wipes their hands of the transaction. So unless you live in Japan, Takara is not looking out for you as a consumer.

I think Takara is great, they control and make possible the actual manufacturing of all transformers, as well as produce items that sometimes appeal more to the adult collector than a child. They are an integral part of the Transformer brand, but so is Hasbro. Without one, the other wouldnt work.

I cant believe hasbro bashing exists to such a great degree. Talk about biting the hand that feeds.

I have bashed hasbro before, most recently for some pretty unimaginative repaints in the movie line that have failed to inspire my wallet. But there is a limit, without hasbro I wouldnt have any transformers at all.

I think the 'biggest' parts of peoples complaints for Hasbro are lack of chrome and diecast, paint apps and repaints. That is pretty small stuff considering they make TF worldwide.

By and large I agree with you, but as you pointed out earlier, I am a disgruntled Brit.

Hasbro UK have been utterly terrible for years, and the increase in avialble tfs since the movie (as welcome as it has been) has still been limited, unevenly spread, and poorly thought out. (What is the point in putting the 5 pack of robot heros in a supermarket that serves (to my knoladge) a population that has about 3 hardcore tf fans in it. The pack has 5 charecters that are either unheard of by todays children, or unrecignisable (apart from posibly prime), and they dont transform, and arnt really posable... yeah great marketing putting that instead of proper tfs in a supermarket.)[/rant]

Anyway yeah, back to the point, dont bash Hasbro, feel free to bash hasblo uk.

Ohhh I like it! These Quintesson figures are very well done, & I think the price is reasonable since they light up & are usually sold out quickly. Hmmm....perhaps for Christmas....

I am more excited about these new Quintesson figures than I am anything else right now and they're not even from Hasbro or TakaraTomy. I think it's because I'm getting figures of some of my favorite G1 characters. I don't know what it is about the Quints but I've always really liked them. They're frikkin' sinister, twisted and ruthless. What's not to love?

Plus, they were an integral part of the Transformers' origin[s] (in the G1 cartoon). I'd imagine that elevates their status in some fans' eyes, too.

That's not Hasbro's fault necessarily. If I understand the process correctly, one of two potential things most likely happened to get those Robot Heroes at that store:

1. Hasbro UK sales rep contacted the store to see if they were interested in picking up an exclusive Transformer item. Sales person probably arranged a meeting to go over their product line with the appropriate rep from the store chain. The sales rep then presented the possible products that the chain could exclusively have to sell. The chain most likely picked the item for whatever reason based on what they're trying to accomplish and based on how they felt the product would move on their shelves.

2. The store chain contacted Hasbro UK's marketing or sales team to find out what possible exclusives were available that they could sell on their shelves. Hasbro either said "here's all that's left that hasn't been picked up yet" OR presented them with several different types of potential exclusives that would suit their store chain.

Either way, it's just business and has nothing to do with screwing the fans over. It's just a business decision that the two companies somehow decided upon during a sales meeting of sorts. At least, based on my professional experience over the past 12 years in the career world that's how it would potentially go down.

Wow, I've been largely ignoring these things up until now simply because they're not "licensed" TFs...but they would be pretty sweet additions to any G1 or original-movie-era collection! I may have to cave and get some of those!

I would agree with you if these already had figures and these where KOs of those. But these are quality designs that both Hasbro and Takara have been ignoring and the fan base wants.
So it is something (in my opinion) worth investing in.

In short, if you're gonna cave on something unlicensed, these are a good way to go

Yeah, I wouldn't mind having a nice little display like Seibs has going there...except I'll have to get over hating him for having that many decent-looking Sharkticons in one place. :P I can't win that guy to save my life!
