That axe looks ridiculous.

With all the detail they put into this I'm surprised they didn't re-size it.

The more I look at this figure, the more I think how sexy it is.

I am impressed! Not $250 impressed though.

I understand that Optimus Prime sells, but its just too much now. With all the different OPs and BBs, Transformers is becoming as diverse as Barbie, which is in no way a good thing. Pretty soon there'll be a Nanny prime pushing his mini-con in a stroller. Even completely new molds look near identical. What's the Point.

First time we've gotten a Leader class-sized G1 Optimus Prime that is properly relatively-scaled to Deluxe-class sized Autobot cars ever from Hasbro or Takara. Makes total sense to me, much more so than the fifth Bayverse Bumblebee or Prime in the same scale.

It would be nice if it were a bit cheaper, but it's a Japanese import when the dollar is in the toilet. I'll be purchasing one (with the hope of eventually owning the mold twice, one for display in each mode, though given HasTak's propensity for repainting new toolings multiple times I may not double-dip on this particular release) once I've cleared enough chaff from my present collection.

Granted, my collecting has tended more and more towards fewer higher-value items over plastic crack, so this sort of release appeals to me, especially since I never got around to getting a Masterpiece Prime with a trailer (the only version of the mold I own is a 20th Anni Prime with custom long smokestacks, which I still love, but really doesn't fit with the bulk of my collection).

My first impression of this was right. MP-01 and MP-04 are both superior. The one and only thing this has on the previous MP Primes is that it's in a little better scale with the other MPs and the Alternators.

How do you figure it's "better" in scale with Alternators? MP-01 is roughly 1:28 while Alternators are 1:24... this is somewhat smaller than 1:28.

It is much closer to the right size for both rank-and-file Deluxe-sized class cars and Alternity.

I think MP-01 and MP-04 both have differing aesthetic strong and weak points; neither seems clearly superior to the other from the photographs I've seen thus far. When someone does a good set of comparison photos between this and iGear's similarly-scaled Faith Leader (which is virtually identical to the MP-01/MP-04 mold) we'll really be able to really see the relative strong and weak points. Overall I think MP-10 looks a fair bit better in truck mode, though that bit of hip kibble immediately behind the cab looks a bit weird from some angles:

You make all the effort in some areas to build a beautiful COE semi. You make room for an action figure to sit in the cab, amazing. You FAIL at the rear by once again not hiding his feet, and now his waist is showing also. A Masterpiece edition is suppose to look like a REAL vehicle. You need to go back and look at Buster Optimus Prime to get G1 Optimus Prime right next time. I do not want to see robot parts in vehicle mode on a slagging $250.00 figure. I never thought I'd make a nit-picky comment like this, but I don't like the shape of his head. It looks too round to me, as opposed to the Henkei Classics Convoy which has a more angular, blocky head.

I figure for $250 I'm justified in wanting to be 100% satisfied with the appearance!

the way this figure makes sense is really if they build a proper ultra magnus armor for it... (though personally i reckon they should save money by building a cab that does not transform into optimus prime (something which was added retroactively) and just have it combine with the trailer

the price is staggering for the base figure let alone when considering the added importation costs

the proportions are nice... the scale is good for classics but there are a few niggles - the eyes look deader than dead (might be different in person).. i'm not a fan of chrome.. blinging out tf's in chrome doesn't do anything for me maybe cos i recall it getting chipped too easily as a kid

also those translucent part son his waist belt thingy make him look like a cheap disco diva

Hi guys. I am here just to share some of the pics of my MP-10 here and am not intentionally promoting this OP. Nothing is perfect. I do think that the container design details and the articulation of this OP are are the key attractions. Afterall, this is just a MASTERPIECE toy, easy...

This might be making the strongest case for this figure:



Looking at this, MP Grimlock doesn't look ridiculously out of scale with the other Classics for once. Not sure how it would look with 20 other smaller Classics around it as well, but I like the look of that display setup anyhow.

We appreciate that; early pictures like you are providing help all the rest of us make decisions on when, or if, we want to add it to our own collections.

Wow. I take back all my complaints about the feet... the running and other dramatic poses look fantastic. The feet being a little big is a small compromise to get those. Just wow.

Roller being able to tow the cab. Nice detail!

Prime had one on his left shoulder in the cartoon. His right shoulder was bare. Roller was gray/silver in the cartoon, not blue.

Those were the early episodes. I forgot about grey rollar. But in the later seasons Prime had an on both shoulders which just looks so much better. Now that much improved truck mode suffers with a missing symbol on one side.

Here's a few comments based off what other replied in this thread.

SORRY I'm not seeing any duck web feet or overly sized clown feet.

If the toy only comes with one autobot symbol on one upper arm,then it's no big deal. that's what repro-labels is for.

For those compliaing about the toy not having any side windows or front windows in the truck & robot modes: I can plainly see the toy has two divided front winshield windows that are transparent clear. The MP-10 truck mode does have drivers side & passenger side front side tranparent clear windows,they are clearly visible. NO,The MP-10 Truck mode does not have back seat/sleeper side windows nor a back window because NO REAL LIFE truck cab have back seat/sleep side windows nor back window.

The hasbro version will most likely be sold without the trailer. as hasbro has a hard time trying to sell exspenive & big boxed items to stores in America.

I'm predicting hasbro doesn't shorten the smoke stacks for mp-10 like they did with 2th/25th MP Optimus Pime.

If hasbro does shorten the smoke stacks for MP-10. then it's no big deal
because a few 3rd party companies will create longer smoke stacks like they did for 20th/25th MP Optimus Prime.

I'm gonna wait to buy the Hasbro version minus the trailer for around $60. like hasbro/TRU charged for MP Rodimus Prime.

hopefully walmart gets Hasbro MP-10 Optimus Prime,instead of TRU. Because walmart offers more sales & clearance prices on their store exclusives. TRU barely has sales or clearance price on thier store exclusives.

My guess is Hasbro's version of MP-10 Won't have anywhere near the awersome paint job plus decals that the takara version has. I'm guessing the glossy finish will get replaced by a dull orange/red colored paint job. with highlights/decals that look like some amateur drew in by hand.

IMHO,Hasbro cut so many corners doing a much cheaper color cheme+decals for their Hasbro TRU MP Rodimus prime toy compared to takara's MP-09 Rodimus prime toy. Hopefully Hasbro's MP-10 doesn't suffer the same fate by getting a KO looking stled color scheme with freaky looking,cheaper looking Decals.

Can anyone speak to the quality of the figure itself? Are we talking fragile like most the other MPs or is it sturdy like Grimlock and the original Prime?
