The figure looks like a quick photoshop of a resin prototype. So it might turn out better looking.
The Targetmaster looks cool.

Also I believe this guy will come with his own Matrix for his chest, plus the Optimus Matrix shown here so that he can be displayed holding it in both hands.

IMO I love this guy now !

First cause it DOESNT come with the trailer. IMO that trailer is a piece of crap.It looks like a toy for a 5 year old for crying out f*ck...and I REALLY dont like how a sports car have a trailer -.-...I rather just have a sports car without a heavy trailer PLEASE.

Second cause it's FAR cheaper than the Takara's version

Third because it DOESNT come with alot of chrome.I have always hated chrome >.>...It's like a rip-off from the colour of shiny metal.

Fourth cause it comes with a targetmaster !

Fifth cause of the packaging. This way I/we can see the figures without having to watch any review and what-not.IMO it also looks "modern" unlike Takara's MP box.

Sixth and lastly...I can find this guy EASY.Cause MP Grimlock was at my local TRU store for like MONTHS.

So yeah...I really cant wait to collect enough money and buy this guy :D.Thank you Hasbro !

We still have yet to see alt mode, individual gun modes, target-master alt mode, and rodimus PRIME mode

P.S. We also haven't seen his left hand, who knows, it may be neon green

What if he comes with a cardboard trailer in package? I hardly ever saw Rodimus use the weapons platform in the cartoon so I'd be good with that.

Ugh, I had a big huge rant going after I read the first page's comments but I decided its not worth the energy to post it.

The takara version was great in its own way, the hasbro version will be great in its own way. Now we have a choice and I think that is something we all should be happy about. I know we are all entitled to our own opinion but come on, some of these comments are just ridiculous trolling.

Oh and I don't know about you guys but I think those exhaust pipes could still be chrome, its kinda hard to tell with the photo.

You know, excusing the lack of chrome apps, I kinda dig this. It's brighter than my Tak. version. The shin decals are VERY G1 Hot Rod, and for the love of Pete, there's a Targetmaster! I will be picking this up and displaying them the same way I display my G1 Hot Rod/Rodimus. Sweet.

its more like a masterpiece hot rod, isn't it? rodimus HAS to have the trailer. it was pretty much the only difference between hot rod and rodimus's alt modes. i WILL be getting this version of him instead of the japanese one, but im always gunna wonder what COULD be...hopefully he has also got a re-sized his chest to accommodate the larger sized matrix that he comes with. i was excited about the us version including a targetmaster, but this one just doesnt seam like a good fit with an MP figure. hopefully we'll get a third party company producing a trailer for him. It doesn't look that bad, MP Grims looks good with his dark gray and chrome dino claws. I actually hated how the light gray on Takara's looked, it felt like it was a test shot, like it wasn't supposed to be there in the final product.

The difference with Grimlock and Hot Rod is that on Grimlock, the claws stand out from the grey as a deliberate contrast. On Hot Rod I am concerned the two will be competing against the red and orange.

So, no trailer but you get a targetmaster. Is it any cheaper? After all, you're getting less weight-wise. Or does the exclusive release of the targetmaster counter the cost?

Why does Hasbro keep taking my money (excluding most of the DOTM line. This makes up for it, as long as they've fixed all of the mold errors)?

I think that would be a problem if the Hasbro version had the same pink/maroon color that Takara's did. If it actually is released with the dark red and orange shown I think the dark grey fits pretty well but you may be on to something with the chrome and dark red. I would have to wait and see how that turned out.

Apparently you live near the best TRU ever. The ones near me and also my in-laws two states away pretty much never clearance exclusives. They let 'em rot on the shelves forever before they'll clearance them. I tried to pick up a Universe Darkwind that's been sitting around for a couple years or so for the same clearance price as Silverbolt and they wouldn't do it. Whatev, I'll just have to check back in another 6 months...

Earlier, I had so much hope thinking there will be a Hasbro Hot Rod joining with my MP-9 Rodimus. Instead, the dark gray on the face, hand, pipe, and gun just look awful...like a KO This toy is more toy accurate (w/ red lower leg and sticker)than the cartoon.

Now, if I do purchase the figure, it will be used as a filler for my MP Rodimus Winnebago/RV mode. What a disappointment.

I personally like the Hasbro version. I prefer the colours, I don't mind the darker, more metallic grey, and the fact that he's a Targetmaster makes him closer to my original G1 Targetmaster Hotrod.

Also, note the chromed exhausts:
