Actually, Hasbro probably never SHOULD touch it again, and the molds for the time they did should be destroyed. Similarly, this kit should be canceled and destroyed. That or receive an enormous price hike to compensate Don Figeueroa not only for this use of the design but also for Andy Schmidt stealing the design and Hasbro making it into a toy without credit or compensation.

Why would they have to do either of those things? Hasbro clearly own the design so they can do what ever they want with it.

Because the design was created by Don Figueroa. Andy Schmidt said he wanted to work out a deal with Don to use it, but then stood Don up and used the design in The Transformers #13 with no compensation or credit given to Don. Hasbro then compounded the art theft by making it into a toy - also without giving compensation or credit to Don.

Considering the time frame and the fact that the toy has been used three times (two Megatrons and a dreadwind) I'm going to guess that whatever legal battle (if pushed) was settled, hence why hasbro is allowing this. Also of consideration was Don working in any capacity for Hasbro at the time? They may have decided that the design already belonged to them (and if Don had signed a contract, then there is good chance that clause may have been in there). Obviously, if he wasn't then ignore that part.

Rubbish business practices? If course but it's par for the course these days in capitalism, and that's something that sending a letter to hasbro isn't going to fix as only a minority will ever care.

But do fans care? It's been almost ten years since megs debuted that form, that's been more then enough time for them to deal legal issues.

I'm pretty much in this boat too. If this was the original toy and time, i would care a bit more, but it has been so long now, I don't.

Also, got 5 new kits to build, and I'm going to start with Megatron and Devastator, and then go for SG Prime, Drift, and finally Skywarp

I'm actually torn on whether to get Skywarp or Thundercraker. I have no need or desire to get both, I'm just unsure on which I'd prefer more.

I haven't build Skywarp yet, but I have done Thundercracker and Starscream, and to me Thundercracker is the best of the 3 color wise. But again, I haven't build Skywarp yet to see the color in full

I was bored, figured it'd be something to do in my spare time between work, what with new TV shows not happening these days.

I would have gone for the seekers, but eh.

I found Metal Earth Optimus Prime in one of the unpacked boxes. I guess by the time I'm done I won't need a face mask to stop me from touching my face because my fingers won't be touching anything.

Honestly, I think their seeker mold is the weakest of the kits they have put out so far (yet I got all 3, huh) so I think you ended up doing well missing that mold

Finally built my first kit in a while, and I could not be happier with it. IDW Megatron is one of my favorite IDW characters, and this kit is so solid. He turned out really good, great build too. Had some help from my pupper Frankie too

Still, I don't like that Megatron as the Megatron it's supposed to be.

But as a YOUNG version of himself, like a "teen" Megatron (like Orion Pax was to Optimus Prime) it work a lot!

Broke out Magnus and some of the purely IDW guys for a group shot. And I love it. This is a group I am in love with and could not be happier with. IDW Megatron is my favorite fictional take on Megatron, he has the best character and the best story to him, and this kit is that love for that character personified as a fantastic toy.

also worked on Devastator today and he came out great!

Holy. Crap.

This Devastator kit is so much fun. I had a blast building it, and now posing him around? It is a lot of fun. Much more fun than any of the other "attack mode" styled bots yet. He's a blast!

And so expressive!
