G1 Kickback
Hi guys
Like I mentionned before, I scrapped Kickbacks front yellow chest but I'm making him another one from scratch. Well, this project was to give him more posability and a bit of the cartoon look. Used Gundam parts for arms and legs. I'll post other pics when he's finished.

Thanks for the comments Piranacon
It's the first time I work on a small TF like this. It was harder than expected. I got this used kickback at the flea market(?!). He was missing the back of his head so I made him a new one. The legs were complicated to make. Kept original parts and added Gundam parts thus cutting kickback's leg in 2 and adding Gund parts between them.
Kickbacks legs were some kind of short so I added about 1 cm of height to the robot mode. Kept arms almost intact and merging them with Gund arms, thus not very complicated. Added pins inside his body to hold arms...that was tuff...Can't modify his front torso 'cause it's diecast so
the pins had to be fortified by melting plastic using thinner and are kinda
part of his back now and solid.

Thanks
that I did'nt improve on somebody else's idea!
[quote="Pun-3X"]That came out VERY nicely. I love the fact that it's still functional as a Transformer. The fact that the robot arms bend back for the insect mode grabs my attention the most for some reason. Well done.
Thanks guys!
I Kept It pretty Simple and Stupid. Not much more I felt I could do to this guy but maybe add some details to his upper legs.
[quote="tentagil"]sweet, are you going to do his cohorts as well?
Yep, eventually!
[quote="Tramp"]It definaterly looks good so far. Are you going to make the new chest piece out of clear plastic? That is what I would recommend.
I sculpted one with putty and the paint is still not dry. I simplified his chest compared to the original one but I'll live with it until I find an original chest.
[quote="Sturmvogel Prime"]well it has more posability, nicely done.
Thank you! I'm somehow happy with the results since I have'nt seen any other kitbashed G1 Kickback.

Wish I'd known you were doing this, I actually sold a junk lot with four or five broken Kickbacks in it. At least two of them had good chest pieces. Oh well, finding junker insecticons is fairly easy on Ebay. Good luck, and can't wait to see what you do with the others.

I would be honored to give you ideas!
I did'nt give him a waist. I simply took gundam leg joints and hot glued them inside the metal body. It is possible to give him a waist, you have to cut thru the metal. It would have taken 2 hours to cut thru that with a dremel however. For the additionnal work I decided it did'nt give the toy that much additionnal value... I like to keep things simple.

[quote="Ramrider"]Thats' just brilliant. The robot mode actually kinda reminds me of a Palisades statue, or something. And it looks like you've rigged the gun for use in his new hand too - what have you done there?

I dremeled the gun handle so it can fit in a gundam hand.
Sorry I did'nt reply before!

[quote="Ptitvite"]There Ravage, I revived an old thread (Been happening lately) so you can see Kickback with more pics.
ah, I thought it was the same one. I just didn't remember how it looked. It looks a little different than G1 if I remember right. (too tired and late) still doesn't effect things much.
