same. you cant go wrong with a laser prime. and that soundwave kinda reminds me of the linkin park G1 reissue. my only complaint is that the clear to bronze plastic ratio seems a bit off. i hope the clear stuff isnt just clear. id like to see some paint apps.

as it is, i have two running MP displays: the normal one, and the crazy variant display (comic, diaclone, black, year of ____, ect). it works just fine for me

Yea, just a few bronze accents on the chest would really bring this guy together. The normally gold/yellow lines on the sides of his chest, and the swoosh thing on the tape deck door, are perfect candidates for the bronze treatment.

I'm more interested in seeing if the cassettes have any other paint apps.

well... the face of the tapes appear to be solidly painted. hopefully that translates to some nice 50/50 mix of painted/clear plastic.

One other possible use of this would be that clear plastic is as susceptible to dye as white plastic, right? So we could just dye these into whatever we wanted...unless that makes clear plastic even more brittle. Any way of avoiding that? Cause if so, I could finally have that Yomotov-purple Soundwave we're not likely to ever get. And Fremble could become background generics from the first 3-parter, Ravage could stay invisible or become MP BlackCat, the birds...don't have a lot of options beyond Garboil, Sundor...maybe Blockrock?

Edit: I feel like elaborating. The Prime pose reminded me of Toxitron and I think it would look great molded in glow-in-the-dark plastic. (does that stuff have a shorter name?) You could transform it in the dark!
I've always liked that G2 Prime mold. It's such a nice combination of simplicity, posability, and looks great...
just not in the deco presented here. IMHO.
It might grow on me in time. Not enough to justify the price though.

At least there's AT LAST some fawking FRENCH on the boxes so the Platinums Editions are finally coming to Québec. About time. This give me hope for the future... As long that they fire the color designer.

Soundwave may be of interest to me, but only because I missed the previous stateside release and I kept hearing people gush about how awesome he was. If I have money and nothing better to buy.

No, you are not, I'd like one too. The closest we got is the Megatron and Optimus Prime toys from the Armada happy meals way back when.

Soundwave actually looks pretty classy in that deco...

Well instead of calling these "Year of the Goat" they should call it "Year of the prototype" or "Year of the test shot" cause that's what these look like. Definitely not the Greatest of all Time...

The artwork looks great and makes the colour scheme look fantastic, but the actual figures ... they're kinda ugly.

The bronze and just straight clear colourless translucent plastic don't work so well. Maybe if they tinted them a bit, especially the heads, but the way they are now, just make them look unfinished.

I think it would be interesting to mix this Soundwave with either Soundwave or Soundblaster Masterpiece However I won't be getting this

Somewhat related: how many of you collect the Chinese Calendar Editions?
If you collect them and display them, do you take them out of the box, or are the strictly "collectors' items?"

I made a decision to not buy any Unicron Trilogy molds, so I was out Year of the Snake. Year of the Dragon Prime was cool, and I might still pick him up one day, but I already have the Asia Premium Series Prime, which is sufficient for the time being.

Year of the Horse Starscream is out, as per above. But YOTH Prime is awesome. If possible, I try to get 2 of figures I like so I can keep one stored and minty fresh, and open the other. So it goes with YOTH Prime. I expect to do the same with Year of the Goat Soundwave. If Laser Prime is decently priced, I might pick him up.

I shall pick up that soundwave for those tapes..

May I ask why you decided not to buy any UT molds? Fear of mold degradation?
