Yeah nothing beats buying all those awesome 3rd party IT minibots toys instead.
I bought glyph, tap out, and wasp, because they go with my ancient cybertronian theme. They turned out to be bigger than I expected with a generous scout scale comparable to RTS windcharger. I do wish they had given them full round heads instead of that flat G1 toy crap, but overall im super satisfied with them. Hey if you want a shelf full of figures that scale with barbie and ken dolls, then more power to you. MP scale just turns me off because the size seems more consistent with kiddie toys rather than other adult collectibles Which are generally smaller. I dont play with my figures so the increased size is not needed in my life. I just display them on a shelf and would rather have more room for more figures.

A figure doesnt need to be huge to have a complex transformation aimed for adult collectors. You are wrong to even suggest that.

No matter how complex or "adult" their transformations are, theyre the size of big DUMB kids doll. Some collectors can look past that. I cant. Im good with classics scale. Unless the character is a giant in the G1 cartoon, I dont need a rendition thats huge just for the sake of being huge. HasTak's toy formula & budget is vastly different than 3rd party toy companies. 3rd parties can do higher toy budgets because they offset cost by making buyers pay more. Much more,Like 4 to 6 Times the price of a similar Scale HasTak TF USA retail toy.
The smaller the HasTak TF toy,The less parts it has. The smaller the HasTak toy,the less complex the Transformation is. Smaller HasTak toys can't handle the complex transformations because the toys are more compact & use thin weaker plastic.
FP Diesel & Assaulter are not smaller scale TF toys. Both toys are Almost Eight inch Ultra bigger Scaled toys. Smaller scaled TF toys are minicons,Legends,Commanders & Deluxes.
Rated X wrote: You have said in other threads that the complexity of a MP figures transformation cannot be achieved in smaller toys and can only be achieved in larger scales.
Rated X wrote:Diesel is voyager scale, so it can be done. Im talking size, not budget. Deisel is the same size as the Generations springer. Assaulter isn't much bigger.
Rated X wrote:And just because something is ultra class, it doesn't mean, the transformation is going to be complex. Think of Universe Silverbolt, Onslaught, Countdown, and Powerglide. They are all huge and simple.

Masterpiece is the perfect G1 cartoon scaled transformers. I'm not really sure why you hate on Masterpiece "scale" since it is the ONLY transformers line ever that is scaled. And since you are so in love with the G1 cartoons why would you not want masterpiece? I'm starting to think you just don't have the money or space to play in this game. which is fine but stop hating on it already it gets old. move on. YOu keep saying MP10 is a doll size.... WTF does that even mean? Does it make you feel like a little girl when you transform or pose MP10? If so there are plenty of Masterpieces out there that is not MP10 doll size. go buy those.
If can't afford it (space wise or money wise) I suggest you work harder cause they're the **** and you're missing out.
rpetras wrote:Only criticism I have for this is that the front mandibles on the actual model don't stick out quite as far as on the drawing.
Minor nit pick, but fixable.

At some point in X's TF toy collecting. X got overly obsessed with Classics-Generations & has written off other TF toy lines themes.
X,Only buys older-newer HasTak & 3rd party TF toy lines toys if he can successfully make believe they are in the classics aesthetics scaled toy line universe.
X,Has Extreme issues with all of his classics scaled themed Display shelves,as thats all he's got & wants to have. Everything older-newer HasTak & 3rd party needs to be tailored to fit on his classics display shelves.

Collecting smaller figures since my youth, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of something that size is a doll. Is MP the most cartoon accurate line ? Yes indeed. Do MPs have to be so big to get the same level of engineering and detail ? Hell no !!! (my opinion, we can agree to disagree) Theyre big for the sake of being big and I hate that. Plain and simple.

Not to stir things up too much, but most of the MPs aren't that big any more. The new MP line is all about scaling the bot modes. For example, take a look at this size comparison pic of MP Sideswipe vs his Classics counterpart:

I agree with you on the cars. But MP-10 Prime, Rodimus, soundwave, and the seekers are huge. Those are important characters that will never get re-done in a smaller scale closer to the cars so why even bother starting an MP collection ? And Megatron is never going to get a proper scale MP re-release. The whole line seems kind of pointless if youre trying to build a G1 cast just on official releases. I always thought of MP scale kind of like a TF hall of fame. I dont believe takara intends to replace the classics lines with MP figures. People want more than 3 releases a year and not just season 1 fan favorites.

Yep, they're scaling them around MP-10, as Prime, Soundwave, the Seekers and Megatron are supposed to be that much larger than the Autobot cars. I see where you're coming from though, so I can't fault you for your choices. I can definitely see the advantages of having all of the bots being closer in size, especially when you're filling many shelves with them. The MPs definitely take up more space than Classics. Still, I do believe that as long as he MP line remains as successful as it's been, that Takara will continue churning out new releases on a pretty regular basis, and for me at least, getting 4 or 5 new figures each year for my MP shelf is a pretty decent rate to fill out my ranks, especially when they scale so well together in bot mode (at least according to the G1 cartoon scale charts).
That said, I've still not stopped collecting Classics/Generations so my collection definitely has room for both. They just do different things for me. I like the modern/different takes on the characters that I get from third parties and from Generations and I love the slavish G1 cartoon accuracy I get from my MPs.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, I think that GetRightRobot built an incredible prototype and I really hope one of the better third parties (MMC? Maketoys? Toyworld?) picks it up and does a mass release, hopefully with a few minor tweaks to make it even more accurate to the cartoon if possible (but even if they don't tweak it, I'm still buying it if it becomes available).

What? This makes no sense.MP Rodimus Prime is a Season 3 Character. Takara's First release of MP Grimlock came with the waiter accessories he wore in a season 3 episode. MP Soundwave & MP Ratbat were heavily in those season 3 episodes. MP01 & MP-10 Opimus Prime was in a few season 3 & 4 episodes. The upcoming MP-22 Ultra Magnus was in season 3 & 4 episodes. The upcoming MP-21 Bumblebee was in a few season 3 episodes.

Rodimus was season 3 but then they went right back to the old season 1 fan favorites. Not to mention the Hasbro version of MP Rodimus came with a targetmaster instead of a trailer, so in reality it was an oversized Hot Rod. Why not an MP Arcee ? I wouldnt mind her on my coffee table, lol. Or maybe an MP Springer ? Headmasters ? Targetmasters ? Wreck gar ? I would love to see MP Cyclonus and Scourge. Ultra magnus is cool and all but Im having trouble seeing how he will be cartoon accurate without making the trailer a parts former like city commander. But even then, the large scale just turns me off. WTF am I gonna do with this soundblaster that comes free with ratbat I bought ?

That's a lot of money to spend on characters that were mostly only featured in seasons 1-2.

I never said I dont collect season 1-2 characters. I just said I prefer seasons 3-4 better. If I was going to start a collection of upsized MP scale figures, it would have to be at least the 1986 movie cast. The seasons 1-2 cast just doesnt wow me in the same way. I know they have always been the fan favorites, but not for me personally. Clecting season 1 characters all over again seems pretty redundant. Fillers for my huge classics shelf are much more exciting to me.

So,Basically your saying if HasTak makes MP TF toys from the 1986 cast you would buy them. I gotta ask the Million dollar question. Did you buy the HasTak MP TF toy for Rodimus Prime,Hot Rod?
