GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!

Ok guys it's that time of the year, time for our picks for best figure of the year. I know 2010 was kinda tough with POC delayed and even then not showing up on shelves for quite some time after release. Here are my top 5:
1)POC Alley Viper- With the fixed backpack and interchangeable masks this guy was everything that the vintage and Resolute figure was in one.
2)POC Jungle Viper- I'll admit that a lot of this figures popularity has to do with the new wrist joints but damn he's cool. Yes there are issues with his armor but I think the cool rifle makes up for it a lot.
3)Resolute Zartan- I think this is a good modern interpretation of Zartan that draws more from his mercenary/assassin side and less from his master of disguise side.
4)POC Spirit- I just had to throw him in since Billy was my favorite character from Predator.
5)Resolute Artic Duke- I like that we finally got a Artic Duke figure in the 3 3/4 scale and he's not to bad.

Well... for 2010 my vote go as such:
If we are only looking at retail then I would say it's the Jungle Viper.
If we add the official fan club then for the shear fact we got him, it's Dr. Venom.
But if everything is on the table, then my pick overall for 2010 is Joecanuck 2010 convention piece Snake-Byte/Undercover Shiver.

I should've said retail since club and convention figures are just a tad out of reach for the average collector.

Well, since POC are the only figs I bought this year (aside from a couple 25th figs)...
1. Firefly
2. Alley Viper
3. Beachhead
4. Snow Job
5. Shock Trooper
I put ST last because I just now received him and haven't had a chance to mess around with him yet. So he just might move up the list.
He comes with a SLEDGEHAMMER! Now that's crowd control!

As will I since I don't think we'll be seeing it or the Fury before 2011. By the way, if you're looking for a movie figure or vehicle you may have missed now is the time to look. My local TRU must have been saving a case of Alpha vehicles because I saw the Sky Striker wave (3?) for the first time in that store and only the second time over all. I would've looked further but the store was packed and the isles messy.

Re: GI Joe Fans Unite-- 25th Anniversary Fig Talk and More!
I’ve bought all ten of the IDW collections of the Marvel GI Joe run as they have been released. However, I surprisingly haven’t read them. I guess I’m waiting for a chunk of time to read all of them at once. Though I randomly started to read the newest one Volume 10 just to read the Snake-Eyes Trilogy, which I heard a lot of great things about.
And it rocks.
So much story is jam packed in three issues. Baroness believes that Snake-Eyes killed her brother during the Vietnam War and sets out for revenge. When Snake-Eyes learns the Baroness shot Scarlett point blank in the head, he goes on a rampage killing every Cobra agent in his path. Great character moments, lots of actions, pure Hama magic.
To top it off, it has Andy Kubert covers and a cameo by J. Jonah Jameson. I don’t know how IDW was allowed to keep JJJ but not Spidey, Nick Fury, SHIELD, etc in their Transformers collections. Eh, that’s a minor gripe.

Yeah, the Snake-Eyes Trilogy was surprisingly decent. And very badass.

Anybody own the ROC Dragonfly helicopter? If you do how much assembly is required and can it be taken apart. I'd like to get one but I don't have the space to display a fully assembled vehicle.

Here's my review of it: http://ages25andup.blogspot.com/2009/11 ... k-xh1.html
Sorry about the awful photos. The second photo shows it fully disassembled, as it is in the box when you buy it. Well, I applied the stickers. Other than that, what you see is what you get. The rotors disconnect and the tail unplugs so it can fit in the box.
Enjoy it!

Well, the review is from November 2009, and I probably never posted a link here or anything. I didn't even have the Helix page at that time, either.
The Dragonhawk is pretty small and looks like it's better scaled for figures like the Sigma 6 Mission Set guys, but it's fun and futuristic. While it's not nearly as cool as the original Dragonfly, I like it, and I hope you do, too!

You mentioned a hook under the vehicle and looking at it without the blades and wings makes me believe it was a heavy re-mold of the Cobra gunship

It's not a hook, it's a handle, like for a figure to hold onto. I don't have that gunship, so I have no idea if it's a remould at all, but I'm guessing it isn't. Didn't that gunship have a troop compartment in the back, or something?

That's what I meant a handle. The gun ship had a handle that attached to the platform ROC v1 Baroness came with.
