Personally I don't mind them. I think I even may have one of their albums, not quite sure.

Would heavy metal suit this soundtrack? Again, it depends on the placement and use. Some nice hardcore metal with huge robots slugging it out? Oh yeah, THAT would work!

Sammy gazing into the eyes of his chick, ahhh you just know movies have to do the soppy stuff. :P

People seem to be forgetting though that this is just ONE song out of what could be up to TWENTY tracks. Unless of course it's mostly orchestral in which case it probably wouldn't appeal to a lot of people (myself included).

Oh and Goo Goo Dolls is neither emo or gay. They're most soft rock (yes Leo, you can call them pop if you insist)

Ever stop to think that heavy metal may not suit where this song fits in?

Ever stop to think that maybe Goo Goo Dolls (who are highly experienced at writing for soundtracks) are the best suiting sound for a particular point in the movie?

Oh wait, movie forum. My bad. So much easier to write something off without even knowing anything about it then to actually give it a chance. My bad. Continue the pointless hating! :D

Normally I agree with you on the movie stuff Burn, but not here. I personally can't stand the Goo Goo Dolls, and they really haven't done anything sinse the late 90's. And I think some heavy metal would be perfect for this soundtrack.
Bands like Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, All that Remains, Judas Priest ect. would be perfect cuz they all write some fast pasted, high energy music. I mean how cool would it be to hear "Head out to the Highway" in this flick.

But then again I'd also like to hear some Cannible Corpse and Six Feet Under in this as well, but I know I'm not getting that. Oh well.

Im a metal head. Googoo dolls suck ass in my book. Iron Maiden Or Priest would make a kick ass song. How many songs have they done that tell a story? Maiden made a song about the movie Run silent Run deep and even made the ryme of the ancient mariner kick ass. If there is a band that could make a killer TF song it would be IRON MAIDEN. Just listen to Adrian Smiths guitar and Steve Harris' bass. They'd put the old Theme to shame. Not to mention Bruce Dickinsons Voice. I understand a love song on the album because spike and whats her name get together but maybe they should tells us some better bands first rather then telling us a crap band first. UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!!

Is anyone else going to wait until they've heard the song until they judge whether or not the Goo Goo Dolls will work?

'Iris' was more than decent. That was a pretty good song actually. I'll wait and see (listen) what they'll make of this soundtrack.

Although a part of me wishes Metallica would've started recording their new album 6 months ago, so that they could release a song for Transformers....

I'll wait and see (or listen as the case may be)...

Here's a little known fact: before the Goo Goo Dolls hit it big with "Name," they were a rather loud, obnoxious band. I don't really remember their sound much, but I do remember that one of their early songs was called "Don't bust my ass with your baseball bat" (or something similar to that).

In other words, they "could" do some heavy metal, if they wanted to.

Sadly, however, they were quoted as saying they were doing a "love theme," so oh well. As far as those things are concerned, they are good at what they do. If it's a hit (and like them or hate them, their songs have been hits), it'll be played on the radio and be connected with Transformers and perhaps get a few more ladies to see the movie.

Remember that Bumblebee is having to communicate through songs on his radio. So the song could be used for any number of reasons. Plus, we have not heard it yet.

Except, why should I try to give a logical reason for the song when that would take away from the constant complaining.

Heaven forbid that somebody actually wait for the movie to pass judgement instead of jumping to conclusions.

i wasn't aware they had released any tracks from it yet. and considering they hailed "st. anger" as a return to their classic '80s style, i don't care what anybody says about how great the new album is, least of all the band; until i hear something from it that makes me say "wow," i refuse to buy into any hype.

as far as the last time they recorded a good album, eh, the black album was okay (not great, but certainly not terrible), and their two live albums (binge & purge and s&m) were decent, particularly when they stuck to their older stuff. also, i don't know how to count garage inc, which despite a couple of weak songs had quite a few cool new recordings on disc 1, and of course the awesome collection of past covers that was disc 2.

i will. i'm not holding out much hope, but i'll at least give it a chance.

According to the final poster, it's a composer named Steve Jablonsky. His bio can be found here: http://imdb.com/name/nm0413011/

Who?

He did the song "Hero" for the Spider-Man 1 soundtrack. It's very ballad-y, and not quite what one would expect of Nickelback.

And while we're on the subject of metal (Not that I count Nickelback as Metal):

1. You know why Metallica killed Napster? Fun fact: They only care about the money. A good musician would just want people to enjoy his/her music, and not care about the next paycheck.

2. Goo Goo Dolls are doing a love song for this, probably because it involves not only a war story, but also a love story. Much in the same way as, say, most movies made these days.

3. Of course they'll have metal. If we're lucky, maybe some GodSmack. I'd bet you GodSmack could do a good track for this movie.

Worked for Prince of Persia.
