some kinda +\- thing for posts? Anonymous, obviously. Or a "give thanks" thing for interesting points in conversation ect. I often read posts and think "I agree with this", but dont like cluttering up the forums with quotes and a measly +1 as a comment.
It's definitely something I'd like to see implemented as well.
Liked. +1'd. Thirded. Thumbed up.
I like this idea.

2. There must be a reason slot posted why like/unlike(will only show up in the recipient's user control panel together with the name of the poster) If no reason, the like/unlike won't be processed.
3 Must have a minimum of at least 20 posts in the site to be able to use the feature
The ones with the highest likes (depending on the average range) gets a customized logo or something.

Curious as to why you believe spamming would be an issue? (Given that it would just be a tag to the post and not an actual new post)2. There must be a reason slot posted why like/unlike(will only show up in the recipient's user control panel together with the name of the poster) If no reason, the like/unlike won't be processed.
That would defeat the whole purpose of the "Like" button. A person can just "Like" the post without having to reply. Add in having to put a reason, then they may as well just reply to the post.3 Must have a minimum of at least 20 posts in the site to be able to use the feature
Personally I don't think it's necessary but I would like to hear your reasoning on this. The ones with the highest likes (depending on the average range) gets a customized logo or something.
hmmm...maybe.
fenrir72 wrote:The reason slot part would be similar to when we post a complaint. Rationale is, if you have some nice to say about let's say Burn, you post something like "awwwww he loves cats and I also love cats", but only Burn can see it.
Or.Burn is a dictator with an iron fist......thumbs DOWN!
This also avoids the tendency to suck up in public (maybe privately its okay to suck up)
20 posts minimum limit because I notice some just post like spambots (though it's lessened somewhat) and other nonesense. It also shows how "invested" you are in the site.
Just to echo Burn - it's absolutely being looked at and seriously.Rated X wrote:Burn wrote:It's not being overlooked. It's just not as simple as you seem to think it is. (Something we've explained to you before)
I hear you bro...nothing in life is simple. But other sites are making it look simple. Theres no denying that. My guess is that the switch would require a lot of work that is very time consuming. I suppose transferring over is not as easy as starting a site from scratch. And theres no denying time is money. So my guess is theres no incentive to do all the work required for a switch. Keep in mind this is all pure speculation since Im not an IT expert.

(Or themselves if they felt like it). So for example (not using any actual usernames to avoid arguments) User Z has posted for a long time, contributes a lot and is generally a pillar of the community. As such, he is awarded a silly title- as he is a Beast Wars fan through and through, he is gifted the title "MUNKY NOT TRUKK".
Just a thought anyway.

It's possible. Little bit of work for those with Admin powers to do, and I have been tempted to give a couple of people some different titles simply for shits and giggles.
This is something we should probably look at. If anyone has any ideas on how we can go about giving out these "rewards", post them.

That's the problem with being on staff, we couldn't have custom ones like that.

Could it be made a 'sub-title'? A secondary title below the one generated by the site that's initialized as being blank and could then be modified by admin?

Sounds like something that needs to be changed in the coding as I haven't seen anything in the ACP.

It would probably be easy to implement, but the 'admin => user' banner-giving might not be, the code would probably be similar to giving warnings, that could be modified;
Otherwise it could be done as jpeg overlays, like formatted to go around a user's avatar, or somewhere else that is of a standard size. But that might no be very easy either. Plus, you would have to source an artist, or something, to make the banners, and then, numbers would work against you

We all know the statement is True and Just, so no need for modifications.
